It was....... not the funnest. I did a whole audio review as I had some big feelings about it at the end. The negatives definitely outweighed the positives in both series. The only thing that kept me going was it was one of those childhood series that always knawed at me to go back and beat it and every time I'd attempt and drop it I'd still feel like I was missing out.

a little of both. 0 and K1 i did about 70% of the substories, K2 and 3 i rushed the main story, then starting with 4 i did every substory but didn't spend a lot of time on minigames and stuff
also i used a trainer for game speed boost starting at K2 that i'd toggle on outside of combat that saved me a ton of time. Trails spoiled me with built in turbo

Technically yes, it has a separate campaign mode where you play through a series of missions as either the security guys or the rebels. Both factions have their own campaign with their own missions, although they do parallel each other to an extent. In practice these missions are glorified multiplayer matches with bots, but they do have some small introductory cutscenes and provide a bit of story for the game. Essentially it's extremely basic stuff and not really worth playing, but I played a lot of strategy games this year and wanted something dumb to breeze through in a weekend.

Brink looked cool and got a lot of hype around it, but the biggest flaw for me is the fact that the classes are all identical. You can choose your body size (which determines health, parkour and movement speed) independent of classes. The same also applies to your weapons and perks. Which means that most of your team is just going to be whatever class the current match objective requires + some medics to revive people, because the classes don't really do anything.

The campaign itself is pretty short, think it took me maybe 5 or 6 hours to beat both of them. It wasn't a terrible experience or anything, but I would say it's the definition of bargain bin gaming at this point. If you own the game and have never played it then it's... fine and does a decent enough job of approximating what playing against people was like around launch. But you know, it's just multiplayer with bots really so you may as well boot up CS:S or something.

Very funny game. It has a lot of bullshit mechanics and game design choices, but you get a lot of your own bullshit to out-bullshit the bullshit. I recommend using a guide a little bit just to help with some of the more obscure recruitments and extra chapters and to avoid getting softlocked. Mekkah on youtube has a good guide that gives minimal hints while avoiding spoilers.

They're great. There are tons of good ones. The main community hub for FE hacks is the FE Universe forums. There's a thread with a whole repository of hacks you can go through, and I have a bunch more in my backlog. I liked all the ones I played this year, but in terms of recommendations, I'd say that Vision Quest is a great starting point, since it's pretty solid in all aspects while staying pretty close to vanilla. CC has really interesting gameplay and surprisingly great writing, and is one of my favorite games I've played all year

I’ve been down this road you’re on before and got severely burned out towards the end because I played a few games I didn’t enjoy back-to-back, one of which I was really looking forward to and using as incentive to play through a game I despised.

ER is a great game but it’s long— very long. I’d STRONGLY advise waiting until you’re ready to commit 200+ hours before going into it. Vidya burnout isn’t something to be taken lightly.
