So, which hobby / passtime / passion you got into as a replacement for videogames?I gave fishing a try and now I understand why boomers love it. It's so relaxing and at the same time allows you to meditate in a way I thought it wouldn't be possible. Share your experiences and tell is if you came to regret the time you spent playing vidya.
this sounds a bit pathetic
>>719597262when i get bored of vidya, i read manga.i didnt regret the time i spent playing vidya since i had fun. the main thing i regret is wasting my time refreshing 4chan/youtube and not having fun (though it's normally when i cant find any manga to read or any vidya to enjoy).
>>719597262started hiking, going outside tonsbegan scheduling my weeks relatively tightly, the idea is to maintain a productive, busy arci still try to game but it's just not that fun anymore, i think a big part of it too is that the industry has shifted to spectacle over substance so most of the available product bores mea recovery guide and a bunch of books i've been reading echo each other when they say "Boredom is the enemy of productivity.", and ultimately it feels good to do thingsplaying video games these days is just this diet, G-rated version of Getting Things DoneI think I'll try to get into cycling and the cycling community next
>>719598660Same, I just started working out more/reading. Vidya doesnt really hit anymore unless im gaming with friends
>>719599342i'd probably be a lot more into it if i had chums to game witheven so, at that point, why not summon them irl to go on actual adventures with?
>>719597262Not really a replacement but a side thing or supplement: Model Kits/Plamo and getting action figures. The last thing I assembled was a 30 Minute Fantasy Liber Lancer.
>>719597262Honestly I regret all the years I wasted trying to help my gambling addicted mother more then the years I've played video games.Video games.
I play guitar+piano and go rock climbing indoors/outdoors but it's not the same as sitting down and playing vidyaI've spent alot of unproductive time playing vidya but I don't regret it at all, I still get alot of enjoyment out of it and it's what keeps a good number of my oldest friendships together
>>719597262>as a replacement for videogamesI've always had numerous hobbies outside of games. I don't understand people that only have media consumption as a hobby.
>>719597262>mosquitoes>having to remove the hook from a slimy ass fishfishing sucks. just sit on your porch and hold a stick
>>719597262the stock market
>>719597262I read novels. I don't play videogames anymore. I only look foward to that Coffin VN that i can watch in youtube anytime, and sometimes i look around here for shitpost. Videogames were always boring, and the best use for them i could figure were for social purposes, and they don't even have that anymore. Vidya is such a waste.
Fishing would've been fun if dad wasn't being a neurotic retard and micromanaging every move I made
>>719597262Fishing is based when you are out backpacking. There is something very satisfying on a primal level to catch, gut, and then eat the fish.
>>719597262Woodworking, if anythingI wanna build huge things and place them all over the countrysideMake small versions of towns or buildings to use as bird feeders and birdbaths
>>719597262i work out because i have to. but lets be honest. at the end of the day. nothing fucking beats some good ol' video games at the end of the day. >t. wakes up at 5:30am almost every day to lift so i can game after work.
>>719597262Watching vtubers. I am less productive and spend more money on "nothing" than ever before. Happiest I have ever been. Luv me oshi.
Holy shit the anons in this thread are actually gonna make it. I'm decoupling from games myself, I've barely played any this year, at this point I just check /v to see what spectacular failure the industry has cooked up each day. I started reading again, bought a classic car to wrench on, and just bought my first meat smoker (Weber Smokey Mountain 18). Somewhat related, I also used a program (ADB App Control) to disable the time-wasting shit on my phone (internet browsers, youtube app, Google play store so I can't easily download anything new, etc.) so it's just for calls, texts, email, and banking. I never used to make it through a day without charging, now I can make it nearly three because I barely touch the thing.
>>719597262I make 3D animations other stuff. I spent so much time on it now more than I did with video games to the point this became my main way of entertainment instead, no joke. I'm actually enjoying myself more with this than I do with video games and now if I ever try to "unwind" by playing them at some point, I start to feel like I'm wasting time and even getting miserable at times instead because, again, even though I'm supposed to "unwind" , I still feel like I'm wasting time I could've put to use for further finishing up with work. Still, I do think it helps a bit to just spend a day or two not touching work at all and just playing some games to rejuvenate and not just straight up crash and burn out.
get a motorcycle, riding by yourself can be really relaxing as well and focusing on driving helps take your mind off things or see the bigger pictureit's a good excuse to meet up with buddies toojust learn a new skill, I think that's the most important
>>719601668I work out but I don't love it I just do it. Also even if you tryhard working out you won't spend as much time on it as a game.
>>719605384ThisDriving is maximum comfy
>>719597262Reading, Drawing classes and recently I'm taking up whittling.
>>719598660bro be playing solo peak irl
So I’m not the only one, huh?It just isn’t the same anymore. I’m hitting 30, and gaming’s kind of hit a brick wall. Hardly anything interesting is coming out these days. barely anything worth a damn in the last few years. Now I spend a lot more time fishing.I’ve been a huge computer nerd my whole life—been on 4chan since 2008. I remember it all: V4C, the True Capitalist Radio Show, all the cringey stuff like the Gag Quartet, when Reddit first popped up and we shit on them them in Tribes: Ascend. That world is fading, and I guess we’re all moving on.Caught a huge red at the boat launch near my house yesterday, it was sick
>>719597262I've got into model kits/miniature painting
>>719597262I'll only add broken games made me start to play them less. Maybe it's with age but I just don't have the patience anymore to look up troubleshooting guides, look through my updates to uninstall one, or delete one 1KB file for some reason is fucking up a game. I could do it, just don't care anymore to try and would rather just turn it off, uninstall and go do something else.
>>719597262I'm 40 years old, and I've picked up dozens of hobbies, biking, rock collecting, blacksmithing, and all sorts of random shit, but nothing ever really replaces video games for me, and none of my hobbies stick around for very long. I'll be playing video games all alone in my retirement home one day, and I'm alright with that.
>>719597262Got guntism so I got into airsoft and play at some local cqb fields. Say what you want about the hobby but physically playing cadadoody in a real life capacity is pretty damn fun. Expensive as fuck hobby though.
>>719597262I've always had multiple hobbies.
>>719597262I got into handloading and shooting. .44 mag is a really great cartridge for that, lots of options. Working on a novel too.
I still enjoy vidya, but it's good to have something else to do.Personally? I like cooking. I'm not great and have a lot to learn, but I think I make pretty good stuff. For awhile, I was pretty big into experimenting with recipes for beef jerky, but beef's been too expensive to justify making any batches recently.I'm excited that it's cooling off outside though. Cozying up under a blanket with a good vidya while a soup or stew simmers on the stove or something slow roasts in the oven is max comfy.>>719601898>just bought my first meat smoker (Weber Smokey Mountain 18).I got an off-brand smoker like that a few weeks ago. I haven't made anything in yet, but did find a pork butt in my freezer when I was reorganizing it. So I'll need to make pulled pork one of these weekends.
>>719597262Reading and playing the piano. I fish every now and then, mainly just to sit on my ass by the water and bask. Wanna start 3D modelling, might start by modelling things from really old furniture catalogues. Fucking around with glass and light seems fun too
>>719611125what barrel length did you go for? i have a .357mag with a 4.2" and find it's just the right length for the revolver and has very minimal recoil.what do you use to reload with and what book do you use?
>>719611519>Fucking around with glass and light seems fun tooLook at Galileo here over here. That does seem fun.Just don't go sticking things in your eyes, ok? >>719610573What kind of minis? Last thing I panted was some warmachine stuff, and that was ages ago. I'm looking at getting into battletech.
>>719612140Lee anniversary kit and Hornady 11th ed are what I have. My revolver is a .7.5inch super blackhawk hunter. Great gun, extremely well balanced.
