whats the average lifespan of a PS5 controller?
they don't fail because the ps5 doesn't have any games to play.
>>719598165no one will ever know
bout tree fiddy
>>719598165What's a PS5?
>>719598165I just bought a Dualsense the other day wtf
Controllers last foreverI have Gamecube and n64 controllers that all work fineIf I still had my ps1 controller I guarantee it would still workyou are just a lazy fucking ogre who presses their full fucking grip strength onto their joysticks when they find a game difficult
its just stick drift that kills the controllers and that is in xbox controllers, joycons and ps controllersotherwise its a very robust device with much better stick material than the ps4 one
>>719598165No joke? Two weeks each. I’ve owned five.
Bought a PS5 around 4 months ago and the controller already has stick drift. ymmv
>>719598165I replaced mine with these red aluminum thumbsticks the day I got mine (December 2020) precisely to avoid this and sticky rubber. Still going strong.
how does this even happen? do you nigs have acid slime on your hands? ive never had a control deteriorate like this.
>>719598341Ports getting loose and disconnecting is some real shit too. I've seen tournaments fumble because of this stupid shit.
>>719598165I've had mine since release, no issues. Played it for 1-2 hours daily.
>>719598302I had to Google it. I'm shocked that people still buy consoles. I figured everyone would hold have grown up and got a high end PC by now. Really wild actually. Is that console Microsoft used to make still around?
>>719598497I use a Ps5 controller on my PC wired and can confirm this as well. I've only had it a few months but the port is already starting to act up. It will randomly disconnect for 1 second but it's enough to fuck up my gameplay.
>>719598474>aluminum thumbsticksRIP anon
>>719598165That's what happens when Sony decides to stop using authentic dog's nose for their control sticks
>>719598671What?
>>719598165I don't understand how people do this
Hey what you do. You take the PS5 controller and throw it in the trash. They you buy an 8BitDo Pro 3 and call it a day. It really is that easy, so easy a chud can do it which means you can do it.
>>719598671>>719598743You think the color coating contains lead or something? I've been using them for over 10 years now.
>>719598327>I have Gamecube and n64 controllers that all work finesame>If I still had my ps1 controller I guarantee it would still workI have both of mine still, sameEvery post-2016 Alps controller I've owned has still gone to shit.
>>719598743>>719598929yes goy just inject aluminum into your bloodstream, what could possibly happen?
>>719599423What are you fucking talking about?
>>719598964give me 1 reason to suggest that current gen controllers are somehow different or more accident prone than old hardwarethe only acceptable answer which NOBODY mentions is the rechargeable batteries that come in wireless controllers, because they degrade within years not even decades
My SNES still works over 30 years later as do the controllers. My 360, PS3, PS4 and Wii have all shit the bed. PS5 controller already has stick drift after a few months of use.
>>719599562My switch pro controller works just as the day I bought it and it's been years
I bought hall-effect replacements for my drifting ps5 sticks but turns out it's a fucken whole-day job of soldering and unsoldering to replace them and I dunno if I can be fucked.I'd rather just buy another controller with them already in, do people sell those?
>>719598327You are such a retard lmao modern controllers aren't the same thing
How do people manage to constantly destroy their controllers and make claims like 80% of controllers have faulty sticks and stupid shit like that. Out of all the controllers I've had over 30 odd years literally none of them have ever broken or failed. The worst thing I can say is that the sticks on some of my PSX/PS2 controllers have gone sticky due to plasticiser leakage.
>>719599462Aluminum intake is said to cause alzheimer's. The idiot you're responding to thinks merely thumbing around aluminum sticks will do that to you.
>>719599784>autistic retard who is replacing his controllers every year>me who has every controller that he got with the consolesyeah boy i sure am the loser in this scenario
>>719599751Some places sell controllers already modified with them and exceptional ones will let you send yours in to modify with insurance. Just make sure they actually did it right by gaming, if no good send that motherfucker back again.
>>719598223Obviously he uses it as a PC gamepad. The thumbnail is titled 69.99 down the drain. That implies he bought it alone. If he had a PS5, the Controller would've come with it for free.
>>7195981652 years before the shitty sticks drift. I had to get mine customized with hall effect. It's been a total of what 3 years and nothing else has broken or even softened.
>>719599464either Alps using less graphite in the sensors, or using a wiper that erodes it faster. I don't really want to trash an old controller for it, and all my Alps controllers in current use have been swapped for TMR sticks, but if 5th-7th gen sensors are still compatible with modern housings I've thought about swapping them to see if it makes a difference for longevity.>batteriesit took over a decade for my DS3's battery to die even with regular PC+console usage, and everything else still worked fine on it
>>719599853NTA that wasn't that disproven years ago? there was one study of some aluminum workers with Alzheimers but since then there's been no correlation between aluminum intake + alzheimers in the general populationit's in a lot of utensils restaurants and food preparation use, you're not escaping it by avoiding joysticks lol.
>>719598165I havent had any issues with controllers UNTIL the ps5 one, shit started drifting within 6 months
>>719599423Do you know what the word inject means?
>>719598165idk. Mine is about 6 years old now with no wear, although to be fair I baby all of my controllers.Currently my only damaged pads are -an L joycon that no longer fastens to the switch (it was always like that and I don't use joycons anyway so its not a bother)-Worn out stick on a dreamcast controller because the thing survived my childhood-left trigger on my xbox elite controller has a slightly louder "tap" than the right trigger. I think the padding wore thin which is weird because I only ever use it for racing games, which use the right trigger and not the left. -slight drift on my cheap-ass flightstick that I just had to adjust the deadzone for.
>>719599423Nobody tell this retard what aluminum cans are made out of
>>719598165mine lasted a couple of months before that rubber part detatched from the plastic knob and started rotating around annoyinglycan't be bothered fixing it, i just switched back to my old ds4 which has so far lasted me about 6 years
>>719598663that's why you buy dedicated wired controllers if you're planning to plug them in. type-c ports are shit
>>719598165I have extras of these, they are cheap.
>>719598165Pretty damn long if you cut your nails and wash your fucking hands.
>>719598165wash your hands
>>719598964The moment the Switch introduced it analog. Controllers were made shittier forever. Since all of them use the same analog as the switch and that shit gets drift in under a year regardless of how well kept the controller is.
My pack-in controller started drifting two months in, the replacement has been fine for almost four years now. Got a third one chilling brand new in box in case this one ever shits the bed.
>>719598548Brother you're on /v/ ain't nobody buying the story you don't know what a console is
>>719600882Fun fact. There actually is a thin plastic layer on the inside of cans
>>719600739You've got a six year old controller for a console that's not even five years old?
>>719598548>gaming pc in 2025>a 5070 costs twice as much as a used ps5>still have to buy the rest of the computer, gaming monitor, peripheralsmeanwhile a ps5 can run any current gen game, and the price of ps5's even went up to reflect this, the first time a console has ever had a price INCREASE since launch
>>719601594enjoy paying for games, having no games, having to pay for online, no mods, and bad performance bro!
I never touch my controller without first washing my hands. I'm not a sweaty person, play in a cool room and wash my hands about every 60-90min while playing just out of some retarded anxiety about potentially ruining the controller. I don't eat in the same room. I keep the controller stored in a sealed box so no dust can get in. Still got stick drift after about 20 months.
>>719598165stick cover recommendations? The ones I have are finally just slipping off.
>>719601273Fun fact. Your lips go on the outside of the can.
>>719601716I use the Skull & Co covers that don't have the gaudy little skulls on the grip.>>719601275It's probably 4 years old in that case because I got it as a wedding gift and i remember having the mentality that I wanted to wait at least a year to buy it myself because of all the scalping and shortages that had been going on.
>>719601680enjoy sucking cock you fucking faggot
>>719599751just pay some wagie to replace it for youmost tech repair places should do it

>>719601594>a 5070 costs twice as much as a used ps5The base 5070 has been in stock all year at MSRP at literally every retailer.the Ti *was* the new hotness but that one leveled out too.
>>719602003Fun fact. Straw
>>719598165This is why you're supposed to put condoms on your sticks.
>>719602658£550 for a 5070 of worthwhile spec£350 for a ps5 if bought used which comes with 5 year warrantyand again, not talking about everything else you need>>719602603you are a retarded faggot
>>719602181They have those for the PS5? I only see the ones with the guady little skulls kek. The switches ones don't have them.
I’ve had mine for 2 years with no issues
>>719598165I've had mine for a few years now as a PC user and I've had no issues. I put on some analog cap things because I didn't like how small they are by default, but I haven't had any drift and nothing has worn down.
>>719601716I just replace the stick completely. On that note, I realized I could transplant sticks from other controllers without issue, but I'm unsure if there's a long term catch I'm unaware of. A metal stick shouldn't cause any more wear on a Dualsense than the default, right?
>>719599464Nigger even the fucking ps5 have drift now. The 80$ premium top of the hill fagget switch 2 controller drifts. They are built for that purpose alone because people just keep buying
>>719598327I've never had to replace a controller EXCEPT for the N64 control stick that got too floppy to play some games with. I'll back you up on any other argument that retards going through a controller every year or two are causing the problem themselves, but having an N64 controller go bad after 10+ years is very reasonable.
>>719598663Mine >>719603568 did this a few months ago, but it turned out to just be the usb cable. I bought a nicer sturdier one and haven't had a single disconnect problem since.
>>719601594>He doesn't know his PS5 runs games at lower than low settingsAre you posting from your PS5?
>>719598481It's from him playing with his nasty nails instead of the flesh of his thumb. I know someone who plays like this and tore my DS4 after a few plays despite having it since release and no issues.
>buy ps5>2 days later the controller falls in a bucket of bleach in a freak accidentdried it out but half the buttons dont work and one of the adaptive triggers is stuck on a firm setting so it has to be pushed down extra hard.Should i order another on Amazon then return the broken controller?
>>719602552yeah the guy near me wants $75 Australian swiss francs to do it, the kit itself cost me $30.a brand new one is $120... I'm probably just gonna live with decision paralysis forever.
>>719598165As long as you're willing to fuck it I guess.
>>719598481>do you nigs have acid slime on your hands? They jerk off alot. Jizz does that to the rubber on the sticks
>>719601273no there isnt
>>719602003Fun fact. Your lips go on the outside of my penis
>>719598327I accidently cut the cord of my PS2 controller. Not very hardy. Wired is better but the cord needs to be replacable. And secured well, with a few slots in case usebwears them out too.N64 controllers didn't last long. The stick wore out and drifted in all the ones friends had. Mario party was probably made to sell more controllers, wearing them out.
I bought a PS5 and barely used it because I have a good PC and XSX. The controller is terrible, it lasts like 4-5 hours of use. I replaced the battery and it now lasts a "whopping" 8 hours. Because of this, I never buy cross platform games for the PS5 and practically every game is cross platform now. I played 2-3 games on it and halfway through AstroBot, I got stick drift. The controller looks brand new because it has barely been used. I ended up paying someone through eBay to replace the sticks with TMR. I think it was $35 service + $8 return shipping + $8 shipping it to them. TMR feels nicer and precise, no regrets.
>>719602705this fag drinks cans with a straw
>>719604367yes, it's to prevent sodas from eating through the cans
>>719603749If you think death stranding 2 looks bad you're a fucking retard
>>719606161In general a straws always best if your eating greasy food. If you see an oily slick on top of your beverage then your just cross contaminating your food and doing it wrong
About a minute or so.
>>719598165Exactly 13 months after I bought dualsense for my pc the right analog starts to drift really badlyThe features are great but the durability sucks, back then I used PS dualshock for two whole generations (it's compatible with ps2) and it never breaks despite the abuse, and it doesn't even have hall effect technology
>>719601020Lmao that hand. Are you brown? Oh, you pay the jannitors salary, that explain a lot.
>>719598794I miss when the original picture was a ps2 controller
>>719598548>PCI had to look it up in a dictionary. Apparently it's short for computer. I'm shocked that people still buy those. I figured everyone would have grown up and got outside by now. Really wild actually. Is that colored blob Apple used to make still around?

>>7195981656-8 months of heavy use.
>>719598474I hear these destroy the gates pretty rapidly, though. Your nubs may not become all torn up but stick drift will kick in 10x faster than normal.
>>719607684>the gatesWhat do you mean?
>>719598327new controllers are made out of the cheapest stuff china can producethere's a really good reason why stick drift suddenly became a thing in the last 8 or so years
>>719598165NOT VERY LONG
