Why did Visions of Mana flop?
>>
niche series honestly. plus its competing with other games
>>
Everyone saw how shit it was from the demo they released. Huge step down from their previous remake.
>>
Poorly timed launch and
>Netease
Deal with chinks, end up in sinks
>>
It didn't have an Angela or Riesz to get people interested. The dragon girl wasn't enough and the squirrel girl showed up too late for anyone to care.

>make a game with colorful environments that feel like a proper adaptation of SNES Mana visuals to 3D
>appoint a DMC5 dev as director, add potential for combos and lengthy juggles to the battle system
>have zero reason to bother learning the battle system over spamming your best attack, even on the highest difficulty
>pre-release advertisement and demo pick the most generic mobage-looking grass field, nothing to hook people into a purchase
>demo also initially lacked shader precompilation, leading people to expect a stuttery mess
>second half of the game reeks of rushed development
I liked it and hope the directors get to work on more projects in this direction, but the marketing felt destined to fail and the game itself isn't particularly special just like the rest of the series
