Out of any of the games including original, spinoffs, remakes etc, what's your favorite RE game and why? Also, how do you feel about the third person vs first person shift Capcom made?

As someone who never played the original RE3, I didn't really understand the negative reception to RE3 Remake at the time, aside from it feeling short. Also Nemesis is kind of an annoying faggot who refuses to die.

Operation Racoon City is somehow an even bigger clusterfuck than 6, so that one.

I'm a normie I guess. I thought RE2R was awesome and is the only RE I bothered to finish it.

Outbreak holds a special place in my heart.
>It's my Junior year in High School
>Me and my friend have this new fangled thing called "DSL" that allows us to play video games over the internet
>We both always loved Resident Evil so we both get Outbreak
>We play it some but don't really dig into til Summer Break. Our last one.

My top 3 are
Rem4ke
Re4
Re3 99
And then the rest, which are just scrambled around down there in the "would replay again, but not crazy about"
Played these games since 1 on ps1.
As a whole package i like 4 the most.
When it comes to classic style RE, ive played 3 the most, it does probably have the most replayability. But the 1 remake is close behind. The DS port i finally played recently and rebirth mode is.... interesting.
I remember being INSANELY hype about 5 since the very first announcement.
Then being mildly put off when sheva was introduced and it was gonna be a coop game.
Then severely disappointed in the final product. But years passed and i think its an alright game.
From a purely gameplay standpoint, the rem4ke is the best.... if you skip all the cutscenes.
I think its a superbly designed action game, they somehow matched the scale and pacing of the original RE and i can consistently get s+ rankes on professional without any deluxe weapons or ashley knight costume or body armor.
I dont like the cutscene directing at all though, while anytime i replay the original i watch the cutscenes every time because i like them.

Man, that's hard. I LOVE both the original Resident Evil along with the 2002 REmake. I love the FMVs and cheesy voice acting of the original, while also really liking a lot of the additions/refinements of the remake.
RE4 (2005) is also another one of my favorites, and honestly, probably one of my favorite games of all time. It has great gunplay and for me is just really replayable. I've played and completed RE4 and RE5 on several different platforms. It's one of those, "oh hey, RE4 is on here, guess I'll play it again." Same with Resident Evil 5. I know it gets shat on, but it's just one of those games I can pick up every few years and have fun with it.

I'm honestly not bothered in the slightest. I've enjoyed all the different perspectives of fixed camera/third person/first person. I also like to experiment with different angles to see what a game can be like. For Village, most of my playthroughs were in first person, but I did two playthroughs in 3rd. For REmake 2, I enjoyed the fixed camera mod that's available. But I'm entirely fine with whatever perspective the game was designed around. The only negative I could give first person would be that costumes are more or less pointless since you can't see them. But I do think first person lends to horror a little bit better since you can't see around corners. Oh, another thing I dislike about first person, well in the case with Ethan, is because all the cinematics are in first person, your character often suffers from "cutscene incompetence." Far Cry was another big perpetrator of that. Essentially, your character is a badass mowing down monsters but then completely helpless and standing around like a melon during a cutscene.
