Did they fix it yet
>>
>>719610761
No, still same planet after 4 years of service with massive amount of recycled content and 0 story
>>
>>719610761
game has literally 80 players
>>
>>719610761
Lmao no, they just slapped a new shader on it and called it an update. Still runs like ass and the bugs from launch are somehow worse. At this point it's basically a social experiment to see how long people will cope.
>>
syberbolt won
>>
>>719611405
The only reason it's alive is because Microsoft gave them azure for 5 years. They have no incentive to make it better as doing nothing doesn't hurt them at all.
>>
>>719610761
no it's boring

>>719610840
you don't leave the planet in pso1 or psu or ps0 or psn either, that's not close to being relevant to why it's boring
also technically you do leave the planet but it appears to just be to the former arks mothership
>>
>>719610761
Fighting stuff is fun, but that's only a small part of this autistic inventory management dress up simulator. So, not much different from the original PSO2.

You already know the answer
>>
>>719611675
Wasn't PSO2 you go to different planets? So it's weird they don't again in NGS, it's a downgrade with how repetitive the environments are
>>
>>719610761
The only notable change in how the game is going is now that HMZK himself has to be present for these live panel streams it looks like, as if he's been dragged out to finally try to defend hia horseshit himself.
>>
I used to log in nearly daily since 2012 but I finally stopped cold turkey a few months ago and it was liberating as fuck. Thank God the only content at the time (Vael) was so fucking boring and lasted for months that it actively deterred me from even launching the game.
>>
>>719612568
You go to like 2-4 different maps per planet but you teleport there rather than travel. There actually wasn't that much more content in base PSO2 if all you're looking at are the planets.
>>
>>719612568
>Wasn't PSO2 you go to different planets?
you do
>So it's weird they don't again in NGS
it's not weird at all
>it's a downgrade with how repetitive the environments are
not really relevant, the other pso2 sequel, psnova, now that one had repetitive environments
pso, ps0, psu, all of those had extremely varied environments even though they were taking place on the same planet
>>
>>719612716
He doesn’t even play it
The game has like 6 devs, 9 of which are modelers with one spaghetti coder left for the events
The continents are fucking boring now, all they do is recycle the areas but slap on a higher level version of it
>>
They're not even revealing the entire scratch rewards now in those videoes.
>>
>>719612568
I don't really care for NGS but this is dumb. What PSO2 base usually do is just port you to an instance. That it. Most players just run from the start to the boss room and that is the entire explanation. NGS does the same with with Ryker Device but at the same time, leave enough diverse biome that might as well act like those instance. Not only that, the NGS reuse those biome for event quest or UQ.
>>
>>719612962
The problem with NGS is that, for years, the way you're supposed to play the game was to run around in a circle until a boss spawned. It was a very boring way to go about it. People preferred running through an instance to a boss. The loot in NGS is also boring so it didn't feel like it was worthwhile
>>
>>719612849
Exactly the point. I think SEGA finally grew a pair and are putting him in the hot seat for how badly he's an the game.
>>
>>719613110
>the way you're supposed to play the game was to run around in a circle until a boss spawned. It was a very boring way to go about it. People preferred running through an instance to a boss
And this is where everyone that complains about NGS fails. Its the same thing, and you don't even need to fight the boss in the NGS. Ngs is just a slab of shiny coat. The loot in PSO2 base isn't even good. You either force yourself to do daily (fuck buster quest) or RP in some shitty metal ground until an UQ is up.
>>
>>719613110
>The loot in NGS is also boring
it's incredible how stupid this has been, everything only releases as a "series" with nothing unique or fresh brought to the table, it's exclusively a stat stick
the chase item series vs the welfare item series might have some insignificant dps difference and a slightly different condition like "don't get hit or dps goes worse than welfare", but you're really not having the game changed up by the effect since you HAVE to run one of the new series to keep up on damage

also having three unit slots is incredibly pointless now ("now" beginning <1 month after release) that the legacy equip period is over, they have no cosmetic effect and when they did have a focus there was no point to mix 'n matching instead of going all-in on the thing that would make it different from another unit would be good at
but even then the choice is solely "do you want some more hp instead of some more pp"

the biggest changeup has been the ex-augments, which actually can be playstyle changing, but it's just random drops that you staple on to any weapon so it doesn't feel special at all, it will never feel "new" when you have to upgrade your gear cause you're going to go to the same thing unless something is now slightly more dps
>>
>>719613659
At this point I'm just waiting for that update that brings back skill rings. I know people hated them in base but fuck it, it's probably better than nothing at this point.
>>
Is Sega working on a PSO3 or something to make up for NGS’s flaws? I can’t see it being anything more than a failed experiment, unless they try something like it on mobile.
>>
>>719612846
PSU is 3 different planets iirc

>Retards (Sega) ran PSO2 into the ground to get to this
>Release PSO2 in the west (JP implements IP blocks for gaijins, forcing them to play on an inferior server), and run through it on an accelerated treadmill to reach the point they can release NGS in the west
>Sega shits their pants right out of the gate with NGS
>Doesn't understand le open world maymay that they fell for, so it's boring as shit
>story moves at a glacial pace; in the same span of time, we'd be beyond episode 3 in pso2 proper at this point
>Shartless are nothing entities
>Dumb down combat
>Reuse a bunch of assets from a better game
>NA NGS is apparently run by schizos (>putting block 20 players in charge of a game)
I really want this shit to die, you don't know how badly I yearn for the death of NGS. I am filled with so much hatred and contempt for every facet of this game, that it gives me glee to hear about it suffer and struggle.

To this day, I still don't understand why they had to integrate NGS into base PSO2.
Never has an update in any other game killed my desire to continue playing a game like PSO2 NGS did.
>>
>>719614392
Bro you couldn’t even sit down in the fucking chairs in NGS on launch
What a joke
>>
>>719614335
There's no faith an anything Phantasy Star related anything anymore currently, HMZK has fucked up that bad. I sincerely think his ass is on the line this time for how badly he has salted the earth around Phantasy star as a whole.
>>
>>719614647
sitting in chairs crashed ships in base, I guess the fix for that was lost technology

adding, going through the list of weapons, what changed how i played instead of being some manner of "decreases pp cost a little, increases pb rate a little, increases crit rate a little, increases damage resistance a little, increases potency a little <conditional>"
flugelgard: buffs nearby allies, (summer 2023)
vershmelz: low potency 100% crit (also summer 2023)
crystia: force-style pp regen when mobbing (fall 2022)
codeck: regenerating barrier that prevents knockback (summer 2022)
koukloziat (wasn't this spelled kuku- at some point?) the weapon you use for the type of quest nobody played after 2 weeks after its introduction (spring 2022)
and before that we're getting to like pre-retem range so the stats actually did make a difference since they were only improving one of them, or it was like the weird elements weapons or whatever

>>719614052
it's something, i guess, suppose tech arts skill customization is okay too
i sort of enjoyed mars so ex-..style? could be something too

>>719614351
was it? i guess i don't remember the story at all, in my mind i thought the station was acting like a pioneer 2 being in orbit around ragol
will have to hit psu again someday (or not, i didn't like it lol)
>>
>>719614616
NGS was always meant to be a glorified expansion pack to continue the Pso2 train, the point of it was to basically catch on all the time they missed out on, not releasing it globally earlier sooner, and if they had quite literally ANYBODY, other than HMZK, we wouldnt be where we are today.
>>
>>719614616
>To this day, I still don't understand why they had to integrate NGS into base PSO2.
SEGA is not going to repurchase those collabs. This making NGS part of PSO2 in the title bypass that agreement.
>>
>>719614948
also special shout out to obsidia series for at least having an interesting acquisition method
the weapons involving the ~ancient enemies~ grind was entertaining for those 2 weeks before new content obsoleted the grind too
>>
I wish I never played MMOs with /vg/
>>
oh yeah there was that weapon that did occasional extra attacks too
that one would be worth mentioning, i think that was also retem era but i didn't see it on the list
>>
>>719615480
the weapons that had interesting effects like that extra attack one also had a retarded drop rate that meant no one was ever going to realistically have it when it was relevant
>>
>>719614616
I played a bit - I got to the intro town, and I just felt disgusted, and violated, like I was playing a caricature of what I once enjoyed. I suppose I know how PSO1 enjoyers feel when playing PSO2, but it's truly disgusting how similar, but wrong it felt.
I unironically had a similar feeling when I played Dark Souls 2, and I looked out at that really ugly-looking hill in the Forest of Fallen Giants, like, that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach, where I go "oh no, I've been scammed"
>>
>>719615526
that's fucking true
>>
>>719614392
Don't forget SEGA siding with Microsoft meant that they lost access to 95% of anime, music, and VA licenses for collabs/tickets, which was PSO2's bread and butter. As much as I hate snoy, they own everything anime related pretty much in both America + Japan and they traded all that for a discount on Azure servers and the Xbox installbase (which is non-existent). Not to mention the tranny mods, jeet translations, and overall incompetence with launching a game overseas with 0 experience because Jap boomers are the dumbest and slowest retards on the planet and didn't think to get this experience 2 decades ago. And now the game is dead in every region when they had multiple chances to not kill it. I can't believe Sakai was the best option for us this whole time.
>>
>>719614948
>koukloziat (wasn't this spelled kuku- at some point?) the weapon you use for the type of quest nobody played after 2 weeks after its introduction (spring 2022)
People still max mod this weapon and do the geolab for some very easy loot dropping, like Ninja Dash.
>>
>>719610761
When will Josh review NGS
>>
>>719615979
suppose it's nice if some chase cosmetics exist for some types of off-content
there's a few things that i glossed over that feel like they'll never be relevant to touch, like cannonball run or... what was it, "timed quests"? those are clearly going to be way underleveled these days

would just be nice if the experience was worth it too, i remember seeing screenshots of pso2 and the gigantic area wide ufo in vegas and never playing enough when ride quests were relevant to see that
was able to go back and spot one though, pretty cool big spectacle thing
>>
>>719615679
>siding with microsoft
I remember the microsoft store installer was like, fucking bricking PCs or something? Truly a match made in dogshit. there was a separate incident where one PSO2 JP update actually bricked hard drives w/o microsoft's involvement lol
>>
>>719616345
It would redownload the game in part of the drive that is inaccessable to the user.
>>
>>719616345
windows store apps for some reason are obfuscated a bit? so like if you were to install pso2 on a drive from the microshit store it would like reserve space but also it didn't uninstall properly so you had this drive space that you as a user couldn't easily just delete so it was just stuck there taking up space and if you did try and delete it manually you could fuck up a lot of shit
>>
there are some good things hidden under all the shit. accessory placing and modication freedom compared to base, being able to color every single outfit, photon dash, mag cancer being gone, mag music, weapon camo being almost all universal, [ou] and CAST parts not being shit you have to carry around, etc just minor stuff sadly
>>
>>719614647
>the comic creator for psucomi actually has the characters sit down in the Central City chairs in the comic at the game's launch
>couldn't do the same yourself
I find it funny that bridges seemingly got burned so badly that even that artist basically fucked off and mostly just does Blue Archive shit now. It's clear Sega dumped them for a new direction despite that being one of the most memorable side bits for PSO2.
>>
>>719618153
you forgot Creative Place, probably either one of the more overlook feature many players didn't bother using but its a nice private you can make your own little town.
>>
>>719615551
>I suppose I know how PSO1 enjoyers feel when playing PSO2
thing is, pso2 at least resembled pso1 superficially and had a similar idea: enter an area, fight monsters, get loot drops, reach the end, fight a boss. some later stuff fucked with this by being more points-based and random encounters, but despite all the gameplay changes and overhauls, launch pso2 was an evolution on psu, which was an evolution on pso1.
then ngs may as well have thrown the baby out with the bath water, only cared about gimped successor/scion concepts carried forwards, and made the entire game a meandering mess with no endpoints around that random encounters gimmick.
