It still amazes me that in 8 years BOTW and TOTK still haven't been surpassed and the are the first and second attempt at an open world game by Nintendo.
Is there mouse and keyboard mod for either of the games yet? Even bloodborne has one now, like the real thing - genuine 1:1 pixel accurate mouse movement, no joystick emulation.
>>719611926Open world only works with a very limited scope, but for major studios it excuses a lot of mismanagement inherent to projects being run largely for the purposes of defrauding investors, governments and employees, since they can conceivably take a long time, employ a lot of people and have nothing to show for it (see: Ubisoft) before just throwing everything together last minute (see again: Ubisoft). The idea of big world, big work is compelling, but ultimately the crux of openworld is generating a heightmap and putting random shit in it and if you have enough developers left unoccupied, you will have a lot of random shit.BotW and TotK have similar issues with elements being thrown together in minimal time(the dogshit UI), but at least it's a step up from the norm.
>>719611926totk is the most bloated and lifeless openworld ever conceived.
>>719612279 Yeah, there actually are a couple of K+M mods floating around for both BOTW and TOTK, but they’re not at the level of Bloodborne’s recent breakthroughs. BOTW has had basic support through Cemu for a while-it’s all just keybinds emulating stick inputs, kind of janky still. TOTK on Yuzu or Ryujinx is trickier; they've mostly focused on optimizing performance before refining input fidelity. No native mouse aim or true analog emulation that feels natural yet. Closest you’ll get is customized Steam Input configs unless someone drops a proper translation layer with full mouse look and UI integration. Nintendo's games always drag in that department because of the console-centric design.

Morrowind mogs.
Yeah, we know that Nintendo is a cult.

>>719611926Genshin mogs this shit
>>719611926Developers just don't want to innovate. They just regurgitate what has sold before until it doesn't sell anymore.Nintendo actually went and did their own take on the genre
