Is Helldivers II worth ~$30 ? I'm getting bored of Morrowind & New Vegas.

I'm thinking if you're cool waiting you should wait for a better deal. There's like a dozen premium currency "warbonds" you buy for packages of themed weapons, strategems, and cosmetics. You'd have to play a LOT to earn it all free, but otherwise the game is worth 70$ total. It's very unique, and if you enjoy co-op shooter this is the premium stuff. It's very cinematic and fun.
>>
>>719619032
Since you're a fan of boring horseshit, go for it
>>
>>719619475
>>719619581
deluxe has a token for a free battle pass and some gay cosmetic shit.
>>
>>719619032
Yeah. It's really fun for the first 20-30 hours.
Then you unlock everything you could for free, start getting warbond fomo and either spend long hours resetting low difficulty missions or just pay up.
Their monetization system is really shitty as you need warbonds to unlock most of the weapons including those meta defining ones and by playing the game normally you'll never even get close to the amount needed to unlock a warbond.
>>
>>719619032
I haven't touched the game since they pulled that Sony account bs. I had my monies worth of fun with the game. No desire to reinstall and play more. It's worth the 30. That said if your gaming was fuckin morrowind you might not be able to run it.
>>
But it costs 40 euros on steam now, where do you get this 30 dollars thing from?
>>
>>719623515
Probably a sale
I've seen the base edition as low as 20 Australian
>>
>>719620542
This is just false. The monetization is surprisingly forgiving but leave it to third worlders to still find issues with it. You will never be satisfied with anything.
>>
>>719623548
Yeah but where, I'd like to get a couple of friends into the game so a sale would be pretty nice motivator.
>>
>>719623591
Psn
>>
>>719620542
Not defending monetization system per se, just pointing out that you can make 30-50 sc per map if you hit all the PoIs, or a new Warbond every 14-23 maps (there's 300 SC in each warbond except ODST one so they essentially cost 700). That´s not too egregious in my opinion.
But lets be realistic: this means (you) have to do the collecting since majority of the playerbase seems to ignore orange SC boxes entirely
>>
>>719623682
fug, I don't play on consoles
>>
>>719623872
Personally I think the maps are too huge to hit literally every POI, especially higher difficulties, and I don't expect randoms to actually stay alive if left alone, or let them handle the objectives alone, so I don't bother.
>>
>>719623565
The monetization is fine if you were consistently playing. It's shit if you left and came back. Imagine grinding super credits for a week then you buy the wrong battle pass and end up with an unusable shitty gun. Not everyone wants to look up guides on what gun is good. You aren't going to grind another week hoping well maybe nextime what's in the pass is fun. Nobody wants to use the starter gun for months hoping maybe I'll find a good weapon later. Then that good weapon was nerfed before you got to try it.
>>
>>719623927
You dont have to hit every PoI. Even half of them will net you 20-30 sc each run. However if you intentionally dont bother collecting free sc, then it seems kind of silly to complain about sc.
>>
>>719623565
>This is just false. The monetization is surprisingly forgiving
it can't be false when it's a matter of opinion. And I agree with the other anon. Once you're behind on warbands (by playing other games or real life) you either have to grind for a long time or pay up. It's not forgiving at all for real casuals.

>>719623872
that's gonna take a lot of time for the average person. I'm sure it's nothing for neets or people who exclusively play hd2.
>>
>100 dollars of DLC for the privilege of grinding repetitive missions with retards that never pick up any samples and make it take legitimately dozens of hours of raw gameplay to unlock things
wowie zowie sign me the heck up it's just like that one bug movie, heh!
>>
>>719624316
it's still a chore that either A) makes missions take longer, or B) incentivizes the team to split up, which is working against the coop aspect of the game
>>
>>719624316
I'm not the guy who is complaining about SC though, just to make it clear. I actually defend the monetization in this thread.
>>
>>719624526
It's just a piece of bait on a line to keep you thinking you can game the monetization system and it's okay that it exists the way it does because technically you can grind it out instead. Games used to just give you free updates. But we can go fuck ourselves now.
>>
>>719624337
That's bullshit. If you are allowed to "grind it out", then it's forgiving. The grind isn't nearly as bad as people here say it is. If it was any easier, there would be literally no point being paid. And I hope we can agree that the developers constantly updating the game with new content for free isn't realistic.
>>
>>719624426
Sorry to hear that 1. you have no friends and 2. can't just enjoy a game for gameplay-sake.
>>
>>
>>719624654
>The grind isn't nearly as bad as people here say it is.
You only say that cause you play the game and already have stuff. A noob or returning player isnt going to pull off minmax farming.
>>
>>719623927
This is why people farm SCs in diff 1. A SC drop from there is the same as in diff 10.

I'd rather have the option to "scrounge change" than to not have it at all. They don't have to let us grind it out and they still let us.

>each mission is 20-30 minutes let's say 20
>20-30SC per mission again let's say 30
>a warbond is 1000SC
>so around 33 missions per warbond
>means more or less 11 hours of pure gameplay for 1 warbond
>times 15 warbonds 16 if you count Halo and 17 if you count the upcoming one
>165 hours of straight up gameplay without lobby time
>also you probably need meta armors that are available only in the shop
>also since the police warbond they started adding actual weapons to the shop as well rather than reskins
I mean at least you can grind DIFF1 but running around almost empty map for hours is so fucking boring.
I like the game I really do, but the devs are clearly way over their heads and sony isn't making it easier on them.
>>
>>719619032

>I mean at least you can grind DIFF1 but running around almost empty map for hours is so fucking boring.
diff 1
desert planet
light armor
mobility boost
warp pack (jetpack if you don't have the warp pack warbond)
average 40SC
average 5 min
it might be boring, but it's way way faster than the way it's supposed to be
I haven't seen a 100SC drop in forever though
>>
>>719625709
Well half of all PC gaming revenue last year came from microtransactions. No amount of voting with your wallet can change shit
>>
>>719625617
Your numbers are slightly off: each Warbond except ODST has 300sc, so 7,7 hours per warbond. Furthermore, you arent required to unlock every warbond before you can start unlocking stuff inside them as you seem to imply. There's about 700 medals worth of content in each, so if you unlock one before moving on to the next one, you'd need to get 90 medals per hour to match the 7,7 hours per warbond. Even Super Helldive averages 15 medals per mission, so you'd need to finish each Super Helldive in 10 minutes or you'll get more SC unlocking everything in the Warbond than you spent on it. Even when you factor in MO medal rewards and buying the couple (shitty) guns that are in Super Store.

What I'm saying is that the grind couldnt be much less or there wouldnt be any sense in buying the warbonds with money in the first place. You're already getting more than you need if you just look for them. Of course if you want to skip everything and get all the things _right now_ you pay the paypig toll.

Also adding to this, the standard warbond (the free one) gives you 750 Super Credits if you max it out.

why didn't they release dust devils or whatever today with the expansion? The halo warbond sucks fat fucking eggs and only retards paid a premium for the worst items in the game

Ive played the shit out of this game but their monetezation is in the perfect place where its far easier to just pay up rather then spending literal hours wage slaving for 10 super cents a map. Id be more forgiving if literally anything else gave SC like direct participation in major orders or even an abysmal conversion ratio of other currency im perpetually maxed out on.

kek no, the devs are so fucking ass there's been bugs that still exist since the games release.
>>
>>719620542
If you bought it at launch and have played semi-regularly you should have every warbond unlocked aside from perhaps the latest one by just playing normal rounds.
It does suck for people who are late to the game though. Massive backlog of shit to unlock and they keep releasing a new warbond every ~6 weeks. Farming SC is an option but it's still kinda slow and dreadfully boring.

Nearly all of the premium warbond stuff is a sidegrade or meme weapon, though. There's only like 3 or 4 things from them that I ever use, and none of them are primary weapons.
>>
>>719620542
Do you even know what "FOMO" means or are you just regurgitating buzzwords? FOMO means Fear Of Missing Out, by definition HD2 Warbonds aren't FOMO because they aren't time gated and don't go away. There is nothing to "miss out" on.

Bruh what a shitty take from someone who probably didn't understand how the game works. Play the game, earn super credits, and get the bonds.
Doesn't take long to buy one, especially since the warbonds themselves give back I don't know how many SC.
>>
>>719619032
It's fun. Even better if you have a buddy to play with, like any game with pubbies your mileage will vary.
The grind for SC really isn't that bad. Do a low diff planet with a buddy and you can grind out a warbond in about an hour. It gives you back 300 a pop which I speculate is so you can buy armor pieces from the Superstore.
Or you can just play the game and slowly rack them up as you go.

Rookie mistake
>>
Is there shit locked and unobtainable or can you get everything from just playing the game like in warframe?
>>
>>719641664
the only non-obtainable stuff at this moment are the killzone weapons/armor, but none of them are really any good. AH has said they're working on implementing them as their own warbond, like the halo collab is.
Other than that, everything is obtainable without spending any extra real money. Warbonds stay around for forever, the superstore pages recycle quickly to allow access to store sides of warbonds.
>>
>>719641664
Warbonds last forever so you don't have to rush to unlock them. There was some separate sony game armor that I think was limited time only. There's been some cape rewards from major orders that might not be obtainable. 99% of the shit still is though.
>>
>>719641664
You can get everything by playing. Warbonds are unlocked with SUPER CREDITS but you can find those in missions. If you really feel like it you can grind them out. Only a handful of warbonds people would consider "Must haves". Some of the warbonds are pretty shit and you won't miss them by not having them.
>>
>>719641869
>>719641664
Oh yeah, I forgot about the commemorative capes. Some big events, like the defense of super earth, or the stubborn defense of Malevelon Creek at game release got commemorative capes.
>>
>>719641016
Xbox players are just clueless. PS players are the malicious ones.
>>
its fun just dont be a fag and obsess over war bonds.
>>
>>719641664
There are a couple of capes you could only get if you were playing the game during "events" like Malevelon Creek or the Super Earth invasion that are now unobtainable, but other than that you can get everything by just playing. I haven't spent a dollar on the game after buying it and I have been able to get most of the stuff I want.
