You have this unique, creative world and you barely get any chance to explore it. The two main cities in the game (Luca and Bevelle) are tiny, especially Bevelle which consists of a temple and a bridge. That's it. Makes me wonder if a lot got scrapped in development, or if they always planned it this way.

>>719626421It's one of the earliest high fidelity gen6 games, I'm sure the developers underestimated how much more time and effort it is to create the same amount of locations as one would expect from their earlier games, but all made in detailed full 3D. I think that's the only reason we have so few cities and why the world map was ditched. If the locations of FFX were put on an explorable world map, I think it would look laughably tiny.
Too many characters, not enough time to give them all their turn in the spotlight.
>>719626421It basically set a lot of the standards for PS2 RPGs and did much wowing with its GRAFIX, i feel it fulfilled its potential just fine for a game released in the second year of the consoles lifespan. Keep in mind that this was pre-merger Square and the company released Flopping Within the same month, X got off easy.
>>719627429The early tests of FFX had a brunette Tidus running around an open-world setting with proper cloth & hair physics, but this was clearly too ambitious for the time.
>>719627429FF9 had a world map despite half of the continents being barren.
>>719626421FFX is the perfect masterpiecethe only flaw is the remaster
>>719626421Feels like a tech demo compared to 12 which feels like a full fledge adventure
>>719628920I mean, there is basically 5 years between them and 12 was basically the PS2 Swansong wringing out a fuckton out of it, the PS3 released 8 months later and news.
