>>719638451Genuinely any year of the 2000s had more paradigm shifts releasing per month on average than you get in entire console generations now to a point where I feel like the idea that modern gaming is somehow better generally relies on people either having not been alive or into games at the time to agree with itI say this as someone who's not even remotely cynical about modern games and whose favorite games ever include a non-insignificant amount released from 2020 onwards. Nostalgia also isn't part of it because I didn't play a lot of my favorites of the era until relatively recently and (in the grand scheme of things) games haven't changed significantly since then either
