Can anyone who worked in the industry explain to me why video game ui in the late 90s/early 2000s was so fucking good? I loved the wire frame gimmick in melee and 64, its so cool.

Best announcer, best crowd, best sound effects even though in the NA version characters getting hit sounds like metal clanking together.

Yes, Pika and Kirby are the best, but no one character is completely worthless, and it makes watching the Ironman matches exciting when you know they can sometimes pull out 6-8 stocks with a samus or DK.
