the ultimate reason its cancelled is because their pitch FAILED. not once but TWICE. the microsoft ue5 demo didnt impress them so they cancelled it. they had another demo shot with take two and they werent impressed either. basically ue5 games are a no go unless you wow their socks off but its almost impossible now unless you're a big name like cdpr or kojima.

Microsoft created a new studio, poaching talent from other game devs, spent what is comfortably within 200 million dollars for a "AAAA game" (yes that is THEIR PR description of the Coalition Studio), and after nothing but vertical slices they cancelled the game. Pre-production and full production timeline is 6-7 years. This is Microsoft's near equivalent to Sony's costly Concord (rumored to be 300 million dollars). Both Sony and Microsoft's studios in Washington state cost a lot of upkeep like California for NaughtyDog. Heartbreaking news to troon fanboy nsilvias and uzzy.

Here we go https://www.ign.com/articles/xboxs-perfect-dark-reboot-is-still-years-away
>At The Game Awards 2020, Xbox unveiled a new game from its fledgling studio The Initiative: a reboot of Perfect Dark.
>And while a new partnership with Crystal Dynamics appears to finally be bearing fruit, multiple sources who have worked on the game recently say that Perfect Dark is still “in the earliest stages” of development, estimating that it is still roughly two to three years away from being ready for release.
>Microsoft announced the acquisitions of Ninja Theory, Playground Games, Undead Labs and Compulsion Games,as well as the opening of a new studio in Santa Monica, California, entitled The Initiative, which would be led by the former Crystal Dynamics studio head Darrell Gallagher.
tldr; Microsoft creates The Initiative in 2018 to make Perfect Dark Reboot. They have Crystal Dynamics assist as it was a newly created studio. They only had CGI trailers and one vertical slice proof of concept to show to the public. 7 years and the studio is closed with no game. I confused The Coalition (Gears of War) devs. Microsoft has now rebranded 343 Studio as just a Halo Studio. Tranny nsilvias and Uzzy cry out in pain.
>>
>>719651065
>7 years and the studio is closed with no game.

Concord and Perfect Dark reboot are the poster children for how NOT to do business in gaming and how to mismanage from the top to bottom. The top couldn't crack the whip and the bottom couldn't even program a game (Perfect Dark had nothing after 7 years, at least Concord had SOMETHING which was bad but it was SOMETHING). The Initiative was in the super costly state of California which must've cost and arm and a leg to keep the lights on for 7 years. But if we take a step back, Microsoft also hired Crystal Dynamics to participate. This is such a black hole of money, its so fascinating. Concord and Perfect Dark reboot deserve disaster documentaries with random images of nsivila and Uzzy crying on their tranny PC.

this has been quite literally microsoft’s problem for the last 15 years. the only tard wrangling they’ve done is only with bungie. when they bought rare they did jack shit with them and now since they own 6 gorillion studios they continue to do jack shit with them. the studios know this is all free money in the end since they know the management at microsoft likes to pussyfoot around their own managing studios job since one bad decision and it’ll be a pr nightmare

Man they take their sweet sweet time these days, I like Sea of Thieves but by the time actual story missions came through I was already in-between way more games, it felt like an EA game for years and I guess with Everwild they thought they could take their sweet time as well.
Maybe there is just a point at which a company is just too big for its own good, hence the commetn by the studio lead of Expedition 33 how impossible it would have been to make that game at Ubisoft.
>>
>>719654003
>>719652439
Realistically I think what's going to happen is the acquired Microsoft studios will be folded to become support studios. Back when Activision was independent if a game studio flopped, they would become Call of Duty support studio. Which is coded for game studio semi-shuttered to become code monkeys and texture monkeys to the bigger fish that makes the game. Going forward I can see Microsoft resting on like 70 acquired game IPs but only using 4-5 of them with every big studio being supported by a smaller studio. IIRC Microsoft in an investor meeting said as much that Bethesda Softworks will be making Fallout 5 on a much faster time table because they are consolidating all their new acquisitions to make it. Basically betting on just the big IPs.

Microsoft CEO says the Fallout TV show is popular (writing is dogshit and falls apart but whatever), so they greenlight a new Fallout game and make everyone who is a B-C tier studio support Bethesda (who is ironically a B studio themselves). nsilvias and Uzzy tranny out and clap about it when Fallout 5 gets announced. Source: Fallout 5 Reportedly Greenlit By Microsoft, But At The Cost Of ZeniMax’s Cancelled MMO Project (www.techtroduce.com/fallout-5-reportedly-greenlit-by-microsoft-but-at-the-cost-of-zenimaxs-cancelled-mmo-project/)

EA has retooled various studios into Battlefield studios (they have sunset Need for Speed), is this the future? Investing even more into fewer properties, hundreds and hundreds of people, multiple studios working into one game?

With CoD it used to be on a 3 year rotation between 3 studios, but now you can see all the studios getting credited, too damn big.

The simple fact is that the games industry cannot have games inbetween AAA and indies now. MS has to rely on games that actually sell and that Zenimax game is going to be a new IP that's gonna flop when it comes out in 6 years but if you make it a fallout game it's a guaranteed money maker.

Oh they very much can, Nintendo is obviously proof of that.
AAA isn't sustainable however with ballooning costs and games not being profitable even if they reach the 5m mark.
>>
>>719658448
Nintendo is not immune to the rising cost of games which is why they're pushing for $80.

AAA developers are raising the price because they're struggling. Keep in mind that Nintendo also doesn't stuff their games with MTX or a ton of DLC. I feel like you could count the amount of games that have paid dlc right now on your hands.

Switch 2 cartridges are MicroSD Express. None of Nintendo's 1st party titles max out the 64gb cartridges, the prices will come down. I don't know why I bother explaining this to illiterate ADHD Gen Z kids like you. Nintendo isn't happy paying the front load cost to use 18-25gb/64gb cartridge in their games. Emergent technology costs money for first adaptation rates, like Blu-ray discs initially too retard-kun.

Don't you find it telling that they don't do this shit with their own IPs? They always gotta ruin the established IPs that the gamers already like. Imagine being a game developer that hates gamers, maybe you're on the wrong industry then? It kinda shows that if those in the game industry are capable of that kind of hate and malice, that these "people" must be some kinds of demons, some kind of change in the stock of people in the industry must have changed. I'm not talking there's less white people and more third worlders, I'm saying that the whiteys now in the industry (which the guy who said he hates gamers is also part of) are from some different soul group or something, or they're actually some kind of demons. You know you see hollywood shit of some sacrificial ritual involving blood, rape and murder of some little children, and then you see it was done by (((one of them))) and you're not too surprised because you've come to expect this from them, but it's when you see someone "uncanny" looking from your own whiterace, that's when the alarm bell goes off with me that maybe there's something more going on than just "it's the joos", and that there are actual demons or something walking in meatsuits, it's only way I can explain the self-sabotage to own in-group that leftists are doing, because this way they're not actuall doing any sabotage to their racial in-group, because they never belonged to it in the first place. There's some kind of "flag"/group dynamic going on that transcends ethnic race, and it has nothing to do with ideology/politics either, imo.

nobody can afford 60-80 dollar games in grand scheme of things, because despite "muh inflation", the wages have not gone up enough to compensate for increase in prices of living (rent, food, all the stuff). They are increasing the prices of games despite gamers not having money to spend on over 50$ , because these companies feel they're entitled to get more money even if their customers cannot afford it. They see it as "well the world is moving forward, if you're not then you must as well die" mentality. Ironically what will happen eventually is they will die, because people will simply stop buying their games once they become waaaaaay too expensive. They are anon very, very greedy.

It's genuinely amazing that all they had to show for their "quadruple A" mega game was a boring trailer featuring heavily scripted action (hacking computers, shooting guns, doing parkour, etc.) that everyone has already done a million times already in other games. But it's a grift, and that's the most important part to remember, these companies, and influencers on youtube/social media, that are now suddenly taking right wing talking points, they're doing it because some think tank group told them to do it. No it's not irrelevant, because the other anon said "nuh uh they're not greedy", and I came in to correct, that yes they are, anyone charging more than 50$ for a video game is greedy. How long has 60 been the industry standard now? It should start alarm bells for you but you're clearly conditioned to think 60$ is ok, which is what the marketeers/publishers do before they raise the price.

Sometimes you are better off dead.
>>
>>719662918
>No it's not irrelevant
It is. It has nothing to do with the conversation at hand because we're talking about competitors not the value of a dollar, inflation etc etc.
The only reason you "jumped in" is because you want to derail the conversation.
>>
>>719661710
>They are increasing the prices of games despite gamers not having money to spend on over 50$
NTA but but if you have a minimum wage job you can afford a game or two a month at 100 let alone 70.
>>
>>719649774
They'll just have to take it on the chin I guess
>>
>>719663241
>we're not talking about inflation or dollar
>Nintendo is not immune to the rising cost of games which is why they're pushing for $80.
>Anon, you do realise that they aren't particularly greedy in the grand scheme of things

You're so full of shit, attack the argument I made, or keep your mouth shut, marketeer.
>>
>>719649991
NTA but I feel quite some joy about it actually
>>
>>719663501
>attack the argument I made, or keep your mouth shut, marketeer.
See what I mean, now I'm suddenly a marketer just because I won't entertain you.
>>
>>719663351
>you can afford a game or two a month
Yes, people were able to buy more than 1-2 games before current prices.
>>
>>719663680
If you think more than 50$ isn't overpriced, you're quite literally a shill and should not even be taken seriously because you're here to astroturf
>>
>>719663803
>If you think more than 50$ isn't overpriced
Personally? No. Vidya is my second cheapest hobby at the moment.
But that doesn't matter because we're not talking about what we consider overpriced, this isn't opinion time. We're talking about their standing in the greater gaming industry when compared to their competitors.

At this point I think you're just angry that the facts align with Nintendo.
>>
>>719649991
Sure triggered a bunch of joyless incels
>>
>>719664141
>we're not talking about what we consider overpriced
>Anon, you do realise that they aren't particularly greedy in the grand scheme of things
again, if you cannot be truthful in a conversation, take your astroturfing to another platform.
>>
>>719664304
Anon, you are aware that you're the one avoiding the conversation, correct?
>>
>>719664418
I joined the conversation with the graph, because I saw someone make the claim that "well they're not greedy in grand scheme of things", which assumes that because inflation bs nintendo is allowed to raise the price. It's a conversation about inflation, it's just that you are assumnig "no that's the new norm already we don't need to discuss it" when it's clearly a convo again inflation. Again, address the post I made with the graph, or take your astroturfing to another platform, shill.

Exactly you assumed and you were wrong and even after being told you were wrong you still continued with this pointless diatribe.

He's right though. They could easily do what Atlus or Bandai does but they don't.
I'm still pissed about Guilmon.

why didnt you save her anon? you could have learned to game dev and made a perfect dark indie clone by now
>>
>>719666008
When this same cycle has happened to 20-30 different games you know, and despite so much ease of access to game making nothing comes to recreating the gameplay of those old games, you sort of learn to accept "this is how it was intended to be", this all starts to feel very orchestrated ordeal like there was a "run" like some kind of gold rush but instead soul material was involved (creativity, imagination, all taps to some kind of collective unconsciousness), and now that the "gold rush" is over no more good games are being made. Many will even say "new games are soulless", they just don't understand how right they are in that statement, they don't understand the hidden underlying reasons/themes for this (and probably neither do I, but I can see something is very wrong)

I don't care about the game but release the OST they used for the trailer, thank you.

In Italy is 80 and 90 dollars.
>>719661796
You are right, I like what we saw but is nothing that would require AAA money, a bit of Mirror's Edge, Deus Ex (maybe?), combining melee and guns, also non lethal options.

nothing shown justified 7 years of development time but still wanted to see that package come together and now is all going to be thrown out in the trash.

I'd like to hear the music they made for it, reminded me of Dune.
Don't know why companies tend to just hide it all away when they cancel it, no respect for art.

I may have some bias, but I feel like there's some truth to what I'm saying. Try not to get too attached to the media, for it might not come from a good place in the first place.
