Why us this game so good?
>>719650496because of fun
Activision and Neversoft wanted to make a cool game as opposed to something that would generate money instantly. There was a meeting leak about CTR's remake, and everyone on board sounded like they were a robot following their set protocols.
>>719650496There is no 'us' anymore. We grew apart. The sooner you come to terms with it, the better.

>>719650496is it? I just beat the THPS 1-4 and was thinking about stopping here to end the series on a high note
>>719650496For me it's because it's the best physics for any of the Tony games. It's the perfect game for style and improv, the animations are best in the series in my opinion, some of the best levels, and it's where the online community for the game basically peaked.
>>719651493THUG 1 and 2 are arguably the most refined of them all. drop everything after.
Because it was developed by straight white men
>>719651493If you liked the mission-based structure of 4, THUG is great. Little gimmicky with one vehicle mission every few chapters, but those are all skippable.
>>719651828Joel Jewett has an unfortunate last name, seems like such a fucking rad dude. After Neversoft, instead of hanging around in the games industry as it gets ever gayer, he just bought property in nowhere Montana and does whatever the fuck he wants now... hunting, skiing, fishing, etc. All the little anecdotes I've heard of him from Neversoft days made it sound like he was a really good lead for the team. While the industry could use more people like him I definitely don't blame him for getting the fuck out.
>>719650496Is the PC port for this any good in current year?I checked pcgw and there seems to be a patch fixing bugs and adding xinput support but been playing other 6th gen games and it's often just way easier to emulate PS2 than fixing whatever broken stuff there is when running on modern hardware
>>719652175Yeah with Clownjob it's good, shoutouts to Gone he's a fucking legend.
>>719651828Who's the black guy and what was his role?
>>719652461He made Private Carrera.
>>719651835I really liked the 2-minutes hard limit of 1-3, and when I started 4 I initially disliked the mission structure, especially with missions that were too easy but I understand they serve as the tutorial, and the gimmick one like playing tennis in the first level, but they got more interesting later on and actually difficult.
Getting off board is a good feature in skating games and it had a fun story with fun characters while not destroying its formula that already worked well
>>719652461Lead character artistI don't remember his name
>>719651828>straight white menI'm seeing a black, possibly 2 spics and 2 fags here
nvn
>>719650496The last replay wasn’t so great. There was a lot more car shit than I remember, and a lot of scavenger hunt type challenges.
>>719650496American Wasteland better
>>719654295Yes but they are all culturally white and straight
>>719653894 I think you're talking about Mick West. He wasn't the lead character artist but was a key programmer at Neversoft. Real brains behind a lot of the systemic stuff. The actual lead artist might've been Shaba-squad alumnus, that crew jumped in heavily around THPS3 era. Names are hazy though, Neversoft didn’t get much media coverage like devs do now.
