Like many pieces of media in different mediums the technology getting better only ended up being used to cut corners much more efficieantly. With the rise of casuals swarming the hobby and over taking people with things like ideas about what makes a game good or what games used to be like at a certain point in the past the general audience also shifted. Now corporations dont have to make good games, they just make really shitty or okay games that look good in the eyes of people who were born into the world where the shittiest aspects of todays industry were in its infance. With each new generation people will come to accept worse and worse games with more abusive features not just in terms of gameplay but how you get to access or even own games.
