My brain also finds it really jarring when I hear one set of words yet read another. I'm not fluent in Japanese but I know enough to tell when the text has been changed from the dialogue and it fiercely triggers my autism. It's for that reason I can no longer watch fan subs that take too many creative liberties and refuse to watch anime on Crunchyroll as their sub quality is awful.If I could read kanji worth shit I'd just outright play in Japanese but that's still a ways off. The problem I think is the voice actors sound like they're either smiling when they speak because they're all egotistical airheads or they have this shenmue inflection where they sound half medicated. Just listen to the japanese like an adult jesus murphy

So much so I've watched Part 1 (the canon parts anyway, I hate the filler) multiple times, both subbed and dubbed. I feel like a lot of Bamco game dubs are starting to phone it in. Even the Dragon Ball VAs don't sound as enthusiastic as they once did in the more recent games.

Unless you’re playing a turn-based game or something like persona, reaction time and your attention to the screen absolutely matter.
