When titles that sell consoles only come out every 5-7 years, paying $500+ for hardware to play them -- which, by the hardware, will become obsolete in 5-7 years, as well -- is not logical. Consoles will only survive with subscription services where you can play thousands of games, including new releases. It's either that or cloud gaming, which doesn't require a console at all.
