There are film co-ops in Canada that connect with art schools and donors and the govt to create culturally enriching projects for fledgling directors and actors for example. Many novices get their start in this kind of environment. Big market video games and films are partially funded the same way, often by tax credit because it's simpler than giving a large business a bag of cash, but it's the same thinking. Personally I don't care if the product is wack, I just want good people working in the industry and more projects means more experience means more better games.
