Is there any real and accurate way to judge controllers?

Is it even possible to pick out the "best" controller? Or is it always just a guessing game?
>>
on pc theres a input lag tester. very easy to use. dualsense gets the best results out of all the controllers they ping at 1000hz a second over bluetooth. xbox is like 120hz. other controllers vary but generally you want to at least match or exceed your displays refresh rate so if you have a 1080p 240hz for example then get a 240hz or better controller.
>>
none of this will impact how good you are at games. it's completely pointless. use the one that feels the best or has the best compatibility.

Are you talking about polling rate or input lag?
>>
>>719665450
both. the more the controller is updating the better. think of how a analog stick works. its not a static press like face buttons. it operates at the slightest movement. a circle is made up of multiple movements and you will feel the difference between a 120hz poll rate controller and 1000hz pollrate controller.

All those deaths could be avoided, it was not my fault!

What's the input on the Switch Pro 1?

Not according to the OP image.

Very bottom of the barrel.

To be fair, it's 6th down the list. Which isn't THAT low.

Damn, so DS4 it is for pc.

I bought the 8Bit Do Ultimate Wireless 2C and I'm very happy with it.
Initially I was disappointed because you couldn't freely customize the extra buttons; you could only bind them to already existing buttons on the controller.
But a recent Steam update fixed that.
>>
The only thing that matters is how a controller feels in your hands. All that other shit is basically pointless.
>>
>>719666085
It's a cheap overpriced piece of plastic. Get literally anything else.
>>
>>719667848
I just got it used for the Switch. I already have 3 DS4, one sealed.

1. no
2. there's chink marketers here, we see you and the threads, and you're more obtrusive than you think you are

This. Input lag/latency is such a minor issue these days but it's what ALL the marketing is about for some reason. The only things that matter are, in order:
>Shape
How it feels in your hands. Are the analog sticks where you want? Do the face buttons fall under your thumb normally? Are the handles, if the controller has them, shaped comfortably or do you get hand cramps?
>Extra features
The autism-central specific things you personally want. Ranging from hall effect sticks to swappable face plates to AA batteries (which pretty much pigeonholes you to Xbox controllers unfortunately, motherfuckers my Eneloops will outlast every single built in pack you have, let me use my own goddamn batteryes). A controller with the features you want but that feels like shit in your hand will still be a bad controller.
>Connectivity
WiredGODs have their wire. Wirelessfags should look for 2.4GHz with a dedicated dongle. If your controller is Bluetooth only, it's shit. Connection stability is way, way more important than average latency.
>>
Anything less than 10ms lag is placebo. I'm sure you could try and convince yourself you can feel the difference, but any difference less than 10ms is not going to be enough to impact your gameplay at all. Hall Effect is also a meme and no better than decent potentiometers.
>>
>>719669963
>Hall Effect
Isn't that just more about the longevity of the controller?
>>
>>719669963
>Hall Effect is also a meme and no better than decent potentiometers.
my hall effect controller feels worse than my normal ones and TMR one. Its slippery meme bullshit
>>
>>719665065
I really only want one with low latency gyro. Sucks that DS5 is the only one that seems to get it right.
>>
>>719665065
yes the real way is to buy sony controllers designed by japanese people
>>
>>719669963
I'd generally agree, it definitely won't make a difference in single player games unless your total system latency is hitting an unfortunate sweetspot that's adding a frame.
The main perk to going lower is having a slight edge in multiplayer quick draw scenarios.
>Hall Effect is also a meme and no better than decent potentiometers.
Arguably it's less preferable for functionality and only better for longevity. With Alps cutting corners on sensors nowadays you'd need to either get lucky, or possibly transplant a sensor from an older controller if you want to guarantee something will last for years.
>>
I'm surprised we are at a point where wireless is pretty much just as good as wired.
>>
>>719666762
...it's over 200 bucks, costs more than 4-5 times more than most controllers on the list

it's a total piece of overpriced crap if you are fair
>>
>>719672057
I don't disagree. It's way over priced.
But this was just a discussion about specs. Not price.
>>
>>719671401
That's why the chad move is to get a DualShock 3 or earlier with an adapter. The deadzone on my DS3 is better than any other controller I've ever used. Input lag is higher than the DS4 but on paper but in real life I can't tell the difference.
>>
>>719672750
Unfortunately DS1-3 have awful ergo for me, and my DS3's d-pad was horrid too. Ended up throwing it out once the battery died, but I should've saved it to salvage its sticks.
>>
>>719673403
I agree on the ergonomics, but I put up with it for the functionality. The D-Pad is plenty accurate for me, but it hurts my thumb after an hour or so, so I have a Sega-style controller for 2D games since they're way more comfortable.
