My understanding is that Dan always wanted to make a platform fighter, and the characters ended up as animals because 1.) it's easy and Dan isn't exceptionally creative and 2.) it let him turn Vaporeon into Orcane without too much thought. A lot of the original art for the original RoA is distinctly not furry, not to mention fucking ugly. Orcane looked like a buff fish that eats children. Absa looked like a thing that comes out of the woods to abduct them. It became way more furry over time because the designs got more refined and marketable.

I will say that Dan is based for turning his human wife into a retarded, feral raccoon that doesn't wear clothes for... some reason. And also maining her.

Nah, or at least, it generally won't matter under these circumstances. P2P/Listen Servers just means that hosting duties are handed off to the players instead of a neutral server, and it feels less reliable because the average player often isn't set up to have the most reliable hosting connection like a dedicated server would. This isn't as much of a concern for fighting games though because
1) You generally only have 2-4 people instead of an 8-24 player lobby
2) Netcode for other games usually runs off the logic of "whatever the server thinks is the truth will be the truth," so a laggy host causes a lot of lag and rubberbanding as the connected players are constantly "corrected" to whatever the hosting player's server figures out, whereas Fighting Game Netcode usually double checks with both players on what the game state should have been before continuing (or will roll back the game state to correct that mistake)

I'll eat my hat if Stang0's Loxodont wins Riptide this weekend, but heavies aren't overpowered at all. They're balanced the way that heavy characters should be: their weight is both a boon and a liability. When I play heavies, I don't care that I'm taking a fat 80% worth of cock at the beginning of every stock, because I'm a big fucking character with a big fucking hurtbox. While having a big hurtbox mean that my opponents have an easier time hitting, combo'ing, and confirming kills on me, it also means that I can actually threaten them by relying on range instead of spastic speed.

Playing against heavies is fun and I don't really get the hate. If you can't kill heavies, it's a skill issue. Just fucking edgeguard them. Yes, even Kragg. You should always be edgeguarding Kragg, pillar isn't as good as people think it is unless you're hugging the wall like Zeebee.

as the actual slow heavies, and arguably the worst characters in the game. Notably, Robin is also this slow. But then... where are all the Bowser, Donkey Kong, Charizard, and Ridley players ruining the game in casual or competitive play? How is slow heavies being the worst characters in the game not "broken", especially when fast heavies like DK and Bowser aren't even very viable? They're B tier characters at best. For that matter, here's a short list of characters that are slower than the 4 fastest heavies in Ultimate:

As someone who loves these characters, heavies and specifically grapplers function differently in 2D fighters because you can actually control space to achieve their win condition. There's a finite amount of stage before your opponent is cornered and forced to choose risky options that give you an opportunity to get SPD.

Platformer fighters are fundamentally about movement, and any character that cannot move well will perish. Dr. Mario and Robin are both midweight characters, but they're terrible because they're slow. But players like Leaf can at least make Robin function because he has options that can control space, mitigating the need for movement. Arcfire is good. Arcthunder is good. Big, slow, lingering hitboxes that, just like walking your opponent into the corner, force them to jump into Robin's amazing Levin sword aerials - instead of Zangief's aerial SPD, for example. Dr. Mario has nothing. Ganondorf has nothing. Dedede and K. Rool at least have excellent lingering projectiles, although they're not enough to save them from being shit.

tl;dr if you take away movement from a character in a platform fighter, you need to give them something that forces their opponent to move instead. RoA2's heavies are well-designed because they understand this concept.

not because Kragg is broken, but because you get scrubkilled by a scrubkiller character. it's like complaining about K. Rool in Ultimate because you don't know how to deal with crown.

every aspect of kragg has active counterplay like every other character. take his recovery, specifically pillar, as an example:
first off, you should always challenge Kragg's recovery. no matter who you're playing, the correct option is to challenge Kragg's recovery and force him to use pillar in a suboptimal position.

She's not really a zoner. Best she can do is pester people from the other side of the stage with projectiles. But that's not her win condition like it is with real zoners like Guile.
If you want an example of a true zoner check out Ezzie from Rushdown Revolt. Her gimmick is she has a super meter that when full lets her put down a field that makes all her normals into weird projectiles including mines, slow tracking fireballs, tall arching fireballs, and a dedicated crossup ghost-swipe thing.

RoA2 doesn't really have a zoner, projectiles- or normals-based. Instead, they distribute zoning options to characters logically.

His awful air speed and his susceptibility to getting stuffed out by disjointed normals can make it difficult for him to approach. Needles don't deal a lot of damage, but they can harass and condition your opponent into making mistakes and force them to approach.

A less consistent way for Zetterburn to activate his DoT effect, trading speed for range. Again, it incentivizes Zetterburn's opponent to approach, less because of the DoT effect, more because it covers his approach and can convert into disgusting strings or extensions if you're not prepared to parry it.

Meatball covers the angles he can't with his slow ground and air speed, forcing his opponent where he wants them to go.

The people who play any of these characters like pure zoners should be shot. Yes, I have played a Zetterburn who played him like a fucking zoner, it was really obnoxious and ineffective.
