Video Game subscription services don't work.
>>
the article is about game pass being shit for devs
game pass itself makes a lot of money IIRC
>>
>>719677862
Sure they do. They just don't work for suppporting AAAA games on release.
>>
>>719677862
I thought they said this was a success.
>>
>>719677979
it is and a sequel is already in the works
>>
>>719677862
Good.
>>
>>719677862
It's not failing Microsoft. It's just failing gamers. Don't you just love gamepass slop like Avowed?

>Play game pass game for 2 minutes
>1,000,000 "PLAYERS" THANK YOU
>>
>>719678241
cant wait for this to happen again with outer worlds 2
>>
>>719677862
It is quite literally irrelevant how long they play for, as long as they keep paying.
>>
>>719677979
Success in gamedev could mean anything. TellTale just created critically acclaimed games that allow them to borrow more money, but the revenue was insignificant
>>
>>719677979
There is no way in hell the game was a financial success. It was enough of a critical success that they have greenlit another. Being able to reuse assets from 1, a better deal from disney because the last movie sucked so hard. And the sequel will benefit from more RTX cards out in the field.
>>
>download game
>play it for five minutes
>it sucks
>alt + f4
>go do something else
Maybe make a better game next time
>>
>faggot OP makes random assertions
>the actual relevant part of the article:

>“It’s a very difficult proposition,” Andersson says. “And for this game in particular, we also have to struggle with players who know who Indiana Jones is, and those who don't. There are a lot of kids out there who haven't seen the movies, and this is going to be their first introduction to the IP. So, we tried to make this the most accessible MachineGames game so far.

>“It's on Game Pass. There's going to be a lot of people trying this genre for the first time. It was very, very important to make the onboarding stronger and better than other titles. That was a big focus.
>“As for Game Pass… We know the behavior of players. They jump in for five minutes and they drop out. You can take a certain amount of decisions based on that, but at the same time, you don't want to make too many concessions. It needs to be a great game for the player who plays all the way through. That's the most important part for us, being the story-centric studio as we are. It's a hard balance. You always know that you should worry about that more, but at the same time, you care about the grand scheme of things.”

Absolutely nothing
The most interesting part of the article is MachineGames has a fight club in their basement.

So he's saying people typically use Gamepass to pop-in and and play for a little bit then put away for their sessions rather than spend hours and hours per session. OP made it seem like people just come in to gamepass, play for a few minutes, then never use Gamepass ever again. Why does OP keep making these threads like this?
>>
>>719677862
>They jump in for five minutes and they drop out
Make something worth playing for more than five minutes then.
>>
>>719679026
It does confirm what alot of people were saying though: that goypass affects game development and quality and its painfully obvious when you look at Microsoft's first party releases, it's like the devs don't give a fuck and purposefully aim for a mid game.
>>
The article says that machine games wants to leave a good impression and get you immediately into the gameplay in order to keep people playing the game instead of having long scripted cinematic cutscenes which has been proven to drive people away from a game.
>>
>>719677862
Who didn't know this, Microsoft has pivoted towards AI, on turd world pajeet shills getting paid on the clock will tell you Gay Piss is doing well.
>>
>>719677862
devs will literally blame every other thing except themselves. This game fucking sucked balls. Thats why it failed.
>>
>>719679565
>Anon with reading comprehension above fetus level
What are you doing here?
>>
>>719677862
>game sucks shit
>people wont even play it for $1
lol
>>
>>719677862
>rather watch the movie than play the game
dats wright!

Just happened with the Gears of War remaster lol
>>
>>719680461
My friend and I played through that the other day and the whole time we were confused about why they remade Gears 1 again instead of making a remaster of Gears 2 or 3
>>
>>719677862
from the start the purpose of gamepass is to pad player numbers. i bet just checking the game info already counted as a player
>>
>>719677862
>they jump in for 5 minutes and they drop out
Enough to count them for the "we have 3 million players" post.
>>
>>719680624
Making a remastered trilogy like Mass Effect would have made way more sense considering only the first game ever had a PC port.
>>
>>719681671
Microsoft is gonna milk this shit for as long as possible because E-day is gonna meander along before being canceled in 2029
>>
>>719679689
No it didn't it was a decent adventure game.
