How did they make it so FUN?

Yawn...

Fun indeed.
>>
>>719680417
Why does no one talk about it anymore?
>>
>>719680389
It focuses on gameplay first, with story being a distant second.

Stop trying so hard to fit in.

this is a nothing game. it will be forgotten. it brings nothing genuinely original to the table, it just combined mario with minecraft. and yes i finished it
>>
>>719681541
It’s called fun
>>
>>719680389
Finally got all 777 Banandium Gems. Aside from the challenge courses, most gems were obtainable by spamming the sonar and digging towards its direction. I don't know, it didn’t seem very fun to me. I’m sure Mario Odyssey moons were more unique, I have to replay it to be sure

What? The smashing mechanic is so fun in DK.
>>
It makes me so mad I spend $70 on this absolute garbage. I literally fell for it. You guys tried to tell me it’s slop but the fun bros got to me. It’s so obnoxious because I totally understand that too, some games aren’t good but they’re fun and I can appreciate them for being entertaining, but this was fun for about 40 minutes and then I realized it doesn’t get better. Breath of the Wild has had some serious consequences for the video game industry.
>>
>>719681665
>I’m sure Mario Odyssey moons were more unique,
Having recently finished up a playthrough to the 500 moon ending,
Not really
More tedious to get compared to Bananza imo
And felt more meaningless.
Both have the issue where there's a lot of bloat in the collectables,
and a majority lack any of the interest and meaning that earlier 3d Marios had in getting their collectables,
But you at least have the skill tree in Bananza so you feel more tangible impact form progression.
And most factor into whether you enjoy the destruction mechanic,
rather than whether you like Marios captures and scavenging for hidden moons instead of getting them from an interesting platform challenge.

Tears is better than Breath

Right but BotW is the reason why we have a million open world games in franchises that would never consider such an idea that make the game worse, like bananza.
>>
>>719682773
eh, BOTW supercharged the idea, but games like Skyrim and GTA IV+V are the ones Id pin as responsible for the open world trend.
>>
>>719682847
Botw was boring imo
>>
bored and annoyed sex with Poppy Kong (it's in her contract)

Nintendo EPD is the only developer that still knows how to make fun games.
>>
>>719682271
I'm neved going to play anything from the world's worst game company. This shit is so ugly. Just seeing some webms was agonizing and people call it GOTY candidate. The unnameable company must cease to exist but sadly they are on top due to braindead, tasteless audience gobbling up their wahoo games.
>>
>>719683048
Im kind of in agreement desu.
I played it a couple years after release.
The traversal mechanics and the chemistry system was the interesting bit imo.
With the environment being the interesting thing on a first time playthrough.
But even then some of the environments didnt look as interesting as stuff in Skyward Sword, along with
The enemy roster
Weapon Durability
Ancient Beasts
Use of Music
And Shrines making it feel a bit bland/tedious imo.

Did you like tears a lot better? Or did you find that kinda boring too?
>>
>>719682271
Its been a bit of a trend with recent 3d Nintendo games where they don't really build on your understanding of the game and introduce elements that build on that,
but rather introduce something completely different to maintain your interest.
And that usually manifests in levels that dont really build on ideas, but rather introduce as many different ideas as possible to be entertaining.
Whether or not this approach works depends on what you end up valuing in a game.
But I will say that i prefer Bananza over Odyssey since you at least have powerups that still utilize your moveset (like the Galaxy games or 3D World+Bowser's Fury) instead of captures that completely replace Marios moveset.
>>
>>719680389
One of the worst games I played this year. I am fucking done with Nintendo.
>>
>>719684084
What didn’t you like about it?
>>
I beat this a few days ago and I was very disappointed. I thought this was a platform game but there's basically no platforming in the whole fucking game.
It was just walking around punching and throwing stuff from beginning to end with zero challenge and very little interesting to do. I've been playing the Kirby DLC for the last couple days and that shit is WAY better than this game, which is the saddest shit in the world.
>>
>>719683741
The build mechanic was interesting for a bit,
but Im a player that likes a bit more structure when it comes to applying any new mechanic.
Like the older 3d games.
The open world I found to be very dull this time around.
And most of my complaints from BOTW still stand,
with story standing out as something the devs didn't seem to really look at.
But Im conscious that my mood shifted more towards games that provided more upfront and immediately meaningful experiences with little time for buildup.
So I wasnt really feeling a timesink into an open world game where the world was dull,
and the only thing that engaged me was the new mechanic.
So I ended up dropping it.
I would like to return to it once I get an appetite for open world exploration again,
But I finding more satisfaction from something like Hollow Knight atm since theres less bloat in between the meaningful bits of the game.
>>
>>719683741
>>719684406
And outside of how they structure/detail the moment to moment gameplay experience, certain music, and the design of their mechanics,
Nintendo still feels like they play it extremely safe in every other element of their games.
Not NSMB levels of dull and bland,
but it feels like they are desperately making more and more elements of their games for the widest audience possible first.
Like, they're perpetually re-introducing their games to you instead of building off of an understanding they already established with the audience.
The only recent game that felt like it had an interesting attitude for me was Metroid Dread,
but that was an entirely different team outside of Nintendo.
>>
They didn't man im done slapping shit I want this to end.
>>
>>719680389
Its GotY. I feel bad for the rubes that fell for the hype. I loved Odyssey so I knew I would love this game too. Its the most creative game Nintendo has put out in a long time
>>
>>719683741
>>719684762
Nintendo is way less for the freaks and way more for the neats right now compared to any point in their history,
is how Id sum it up right now
>>
Goty?
>>
>>719684936
What?
>>
So we can confirm from the lack of attention this thread’s getting that truly there are very little bananza defenders and the game really was only played by downwards of 50 people on this site. Sad.

Nintendo used to have more for the "freak" (i.e. the experienced/"expert" player),
but is pivoting a lot more to the "neat" (i.e. a casual/first-time player).
And most of their game design decisions reflect this.

You should just accept the fact that you're not a person that likes videogames. You're the kind of person that likes feeling miserable while watching youtube video essays. Just wait for some negro bitch to make a 5hr video bitching about it like that one that cried about TOTK and you'll be set for the next three years of your life free to spam it everywhere while watching people like ratatoskr eagerly bitch about it daily in hopes of convincing themselves that they aren't a tasteless, soulless minority.

This. You get to destroy everything. The world looks awesome. You get an adoptive daughter or kid sister and even the NPCs are lovable. Poppy calls you darling over and over. Grumpy ends up having a heart of gold. You can play the zebra theme song in a disco where everyone dances. It's peak. Exactly what I wanted and needed, and I'm someone that thought I would hate it everytime they showed trailers and previews for it. Meanwhile my most anticipated game this year turned out to be uncreative, horrifically-paced, dullard dogshit.
>>

>Holy meltdown. Nintendo is a cult.
But I hated Mario Kart, didn't care for BOTW, don't play smash, kirby, tons of their stuff. Again, you're just not a gamer, you're someone obsessed with "discussions" about games.
>>
>>719682773
How the fuck is Bananza an open world game when it has a linear stage progression?

>>719693512
If you're defending something designed for retarded gay babies so passionately, I doubt that YOU are a gamer.

>>719680389
By focusing on the gameplay over everything else, something AAA studios don't know how to do which why they're dying.
>>
>>719693858
The "gameplay" was designed with preschoolers in mind. If you're a fan of this crap, guess that Paw Patrol game my niece plays on Xbox would be a game of the decade for you.

Gameplay is why they still exist and isn't going third party like Xshit. I wonder how long Microsoft's AAA push is going to last before that collapse in on itself. I honestly see other AAA companies surviving by going AA but I can see Microsoft Gaming and SIE literally almost dying if changes aren't met.

you see, in mario, you jump.
in minecraft, you can break dirt with a punch.
in donkey kong bananza, you can jump, and break dirt with a punch.
this all makes sense now, doesn't it?

It felt unfinished, there were hints on lion and giraffe bananzas.

kek changed the dig down button to A as soon as I started the game. that retard miyamoto just can't help but shit up great things other people have made. he tried to ruin rosalina's observatory in Galaxy as well, thankfully smaller devs managed to protect the game from him. then he got his way nantes sequel and turned it into that soulless giant Mario head and ruined it.
