>>719682562I like Mona Sax and I'm happy for Max in the alternate ending and all, but 1 just had so much more that 2 feels like a mini expansion in comparison. Second one feels small because it takes place in like 3-4 locations tops, while in the first Max Payne you're taken on a ride across the whole New York from killing junkies and hobos to yuppies in the luxurious tops of the Aesir Corporation HQ. 3 also just blows 2 out of the waters with its gameplay and music, even if the cutscenes are irritating as hell bringing nonstop interruption

It's flawed as fuck, Max has a lengthy unskippable animation when he gets up off the floor after a shootdodge and you cannot move or shoot, and it's fucking retarded. This gets you killed almost all the time unless you reload your F5'd quicksave and shootdodge a little differently than you did last time; rinse-repeat until you can clear the room without dying during that unskippable animation.Headshots are also not instant-kill with a majority of the guns. That's garbageOther than that, sure, I liked it in 2001, I like it still, I associate it with PC gaming quite heavily as a medium and the CD-ROM case was iconic. The voice acting is great, the tone and style is great, the story was good and yeah it's very cool. It just needed those jagged goddamned edges rounded off. Fortunately the rest of it was great enough for it to become influential enough for two so-so sequels and a reboot.
