Mortal Kombat is getting their old games ported to everything and the kitchen sinks, what games are you playing online 1st?

https://youtu.be/a8Hb7DMRnvY?si=opycfgJxAnYhBnUd

Maybe this means they'll bring back gauntlet dark legacy too!?
>>
>>719684563
i dont play fighting games
>>
does this include the n64 version of MK Trilogy?
>>
Mythologies Sub-Zero.
Nothing else matters.
>>
>>719684563
Ultimate MK3. It’s the best old school MK that wasn’t a dream match game like Trilogy. It’s comfy as hell replaying it now.
>>
>>719684563
hardest totem run of umk3 until i get my shit pushed in by goro or kintara
>>
>>719684669
Based department? Is that you?
>>
>>719684652
No think they did throw in the PSone version of MK IV though
>>
>>719684563
Playing classic MK online sure is tempting.
Of course, if there's anyone playing them at any given time that is.
>>
This game doesn't have cross play so I won't be playing anything online
>>
>>719684826
then I'll pass. thats the only one I'd be interested playing online.

There are occasional rooms open for the TMNT collection released last year at least on the switch version so given this is much older but very beloved series it should have some legs at launch

Here's hoping the net play isn't lagging like crazy
>>
I'm just hoping it sells well enough to get a Legacy Kollection 2 for the 3D Era stuff so I can play SMonks on modern systems.
>>
>>719685038
I haven’t played the arcade version of MK4 since the late 90s. Looking forward to a version that’s not totally broken like the Dreamcast port, or that looks like crap on the N64 and PS1
>>
>>719685038

What's the difference between snes and the sega version?

Me neither but MK2 is worth playing through the arcade mode at least once for the aesthetics.

Its a little lame that the physical version comes out later. I'll have to wait till then

you can emulate that for free

why the fuck would they include the ps1 version of mkt and not n64 when they actually made the n64 version themselves?

Is that the one where scorpion explodes quan chi?
>>
>>719686061
We knew the console ports were compromised, but what mattered is you could play it at home as much as you wanted. I spent countless hours playing the Genesis ports of MK and MK2 and never felt dissatisfied. Obviously I would have loved to play the arcade version all the time, but that simply wasn’t possible back then.
>>
>>719685038
No n64 Trilogy?
>>
>>719686393
PS1 Trilogy was better anyways. It had the complete roster. The N64 version is missing like 4 characters I think.

They looked like real people and that wowed most of us. There was this period of time where full motion video and digitized characters were all the rage. Thank god polygon graphics got better and better.

Compare MK2's Mileena fatalities to MK1's and remember that MK2 was hugely controversial.

Milenna wasn’t in MK1, unless you’re talking about the most recent MK1 that came out a couple years ago.

I still think it was the best style they should have never abandoned after switching to the 3D era games

There was also that one from Naughty Dog that saved their company

Midnight bump
>>
>>719685262
The console war legacy of Mortal Kombat is arguably one of the most important of that entire generation. MK1 sold like hotcakes on Genesis because of the blood code versus the sweat and censorship of SNES, and MK2 upping the ante to be mostly uncensored out of the box showed how shite the Genesis port was by comparison. It's effectively almost as important to the franchise history as the arcade games themselves.
>>
>>719688957
The pursuit of realism ruined games.

>>719684563
let me guess they are desexualizing all the females

They wore one piece swimsuits, dumbass.
It wasn't until the 3D era that they put them in retarded slutwear.

Honestly I agree this is fucking irritating, but I hope(they won't) they'll see some light in this and start going back to how the games used to be.

>>719691776
Naughty Dog was almost bankrupt so they made Way of The Warrior they were so broke they could barely afford to chroma key the characters they had to hire the dev's friends to play the fighters no idea if they paid them or not they also made the game in one of the developer's apartments it sucked ass but it made just enough to save them

Doom 32X was a bad showing all around besides being one of the only really "playable" non-CD ports, and it was still rough. That fan hack trying to basically rework it for all the PC content is damn good though. But the anon was probably referring to MK2 32X, which was really just a marginally upgraded port of the Genesis version with some better colors and sound but otherwise barely changed.

>>
>>719690182
Which is great and all but why are all three included?
Just have the best port.
>>
>>719694734
They already do, why not have the extras? It's what more of these collections should be doing. Street Fighter should've had the SNES and MD ports, maybe even the PC Engine version of Champion Edition. The recent Capcom Fighting Collection stuff is great and all, but they're entirely arcade versions with minor concessions up until the Alpha 3 Upper update to include the MAX characters; this means a lot of home content like World Tour, the Power Stone 2 characters in the first game from the PSP packaged pair and so much other stuff are completely absent. If there was a Virtua Fighter collection that Sega is openly considering now, it would be great to have not just VF2 and 3, maybe even 4, in one solid place, but see ports like 32X, Saturn or Fighters Megamix thrown in there as a bonus, etc.

I say this knowing only a few CD-based emulators are actually working at major companies right now, Digital Eclipse managing to get the Mythologies stuff and Trilogy going is a big leap for this in terms of mainstream company emulation since Capcom has stepped around bothering with their PS1 library personally, but these collections are already a large pile of nostalgia to begin with. Only the budget and effort on designing individual emulators and perhaps per-game fixes/hacks is the big problem, no one is going to complain about more content or appealing specifically to their home experience nostalgia.

The arcade is already definitive but the Genesis and SNES version would sometimes some with extras like cheat codes and extra modes and characters sometimes, Rain (The purple palette male ninja) was not in the Arcade version despite being in the demo reel but he is in all of the home console versions of said game. He was put in there to bamboozle arcade players into searching for him and the console versions because Ed boon is a troll I guess.

Does this include all the game boy and game boy color MK games and the DS port with its tetris mode?
>>
If this comes out and the emulation has like 8 frames of input lag it's gonna be hilaroous
>>
>>719702378
First two Game Boy games, three Advance games (including the worst game in the series with MK Advance, but also the competent ports of the 3D era games to GBA too), and one Game Gear port of MK1.
Other novelties are apparently
>32X version of MK2
>Mythologies Sub Zero and Special Forces for PS1
>Trilogy for PS1
>Wavenet version of UMK3 that introduced Noob Saibot to the series
Interestingly enough, no UMK3 Genesis despite having it for SNES. It's not exactly a "cohesive" lineup of ports.
>>
>>719702832
Thanks.
Sucks that they did not include all the ports. I loved the MK Gold on the n64 along with MK3U on the DS.
>>
>>719703084
the DS version of UMK3 is the exact same as the arcade version that is included in this collection. DS version just had the added bonus of puzzle kombat mode from MK Deception
>>
>>719694012
Why did they include MK4 then?
>>
>>719703646
MK4 is popularly seen as belonging to the "Arcade era" of MK games which encompasses everything before Deadly Alliance

Deadly Alliance, Deception, Armageddon and Shaolin Monks are seen as a separate era by fans because they all released on PS2 + the three fighting games used the same engine and game mechanics
>>
>>719702461
It always blows my mind how they manage to botch something as simple as 90s arcade game emulation in 2025. Like bro, MAME's been doing it perfectly for two decades but somehow these "official" collections be playing like you're fighting underwater with mittens on. If I see one more Digital Eclipse logo I'm uninstalling on sight.
