I had given it a try years ago and it was too clunky for me, but not long ago I was convinced to give it a new try and thank god I did, because it truly is one of my dream games made real, even if it's still somewhat clunky in many ways.

Left 4 dead 2

Been playing lots of final fantasy 2. Just beat the tower and got the ultima spell tome. Kinda hated how unbalanced ff2s leveling and wild monster set up was.

Playing the new Story of Seasons and it's great. On the last boss of Big Gay 3 with my friends on Honour mode, once we beat it tonight we will start up Divinity OS 2
Going to pick up Hot Shots Golf tomorrow and play that and Warriors Orochi 3 DE until FF Tactics remake.

Feels good. I like video games.

100%'d Donkey Kong Bananza, now I'm playing 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. I always wanted to try it. I'm a few chapters in and it's making me miss the days of AA developers bringing to life such crazy ideas with no apology.

Kirby Air Riders (wanted a sequel for 20 goddamn years) and Styx: Blades of Greed (always love a good stealth game)

>Did you play any games this week?
Disgaea 7, hoping that the final update will be available on PS4 along Switch 2.

>Are you excited for any upcoming games?
Preordered the Final Fantasy Tactics remaster on PS4, the Deluxe edition. It was my favorite PS1 game along Castlevania SotN, Digimon World 3 and Megaman X4.

>What is you ol' reliable game that you always come back to?
I'll either beat Sonic 3 & Knuckles with the three characters, beat Digimon World 3 with a Whatever + Veemon team, or Final Fantasy Tactics where I plan something different but always end with Ramza as a ninja that punches things for 999 + 999 damage, then one of the special knights (Agrias, Meliadoul or Orlandu) and a generic Dragoon (either Rad or Lavian), both riding a Chocobo.
If I'm having a really shitty week I'll get drunk and play one of my childhood games, almost always one of the NES TMNT games or Syper Mario 3

7 is pretty much a apology for 6 and the consensus is that it's the sequel 5 should have had in the first place. It brings back weapon skills, not only it brings back the classes that were cut off in 6 but also brings back classes from older games (like the male Iron Knight and male Samurai from 2 and the male archer from 3, and the Kunoichi, Sorcerer and Angel Knight classes aren't DLC), restores weapon skills, and goes back to the 9999 level cap and stats from 5. Play it, you won't regret it.

doesnt happen due to age. brain is like a muscle, reflexes go away because you're not using them, and they'll come back if you actually make an effort. its no coincidence most of the games played in these threads are rpgs. its like that skyrim grandma that got dementia because she played nothing but really shit bethesda games.

They were pretty much done with the series after 5 and the gacha, but eventually they tried to create a hybrid game aimed at the mobile market, and after some meddling, they changed it to PC + consoles instead. It's a extremely simplified game focused on autoplay and there's no mechanics besides the evilities, characters don't even learn weapon skills. Worse of all, ProZD was a voice actor in it.

I've been doom scrolling trying to find a good exploration game, but everything is online.
I want a single player game that has a huge world to wonder around and do lots of things in. Online games always attach grinds and daily missions to that.
I used to bounce between MMOs and Gachas but the chore list broke me now I can't tolerate any of them anymore.
The last great game I played that actually achieved what I'm looking for is Sandrock. That was pretty great, I liked crafting and upgrading the town in between adventure hunts.
But it's hard to go back and play the same game again, Portia too. That's probably why I'm doomscrolling because I've already played all the good ones and the only thing left is online chores if I give in and play some new chinese gacha.
I'm sort of excited for Azur Promilia but who knows when it will release and how much actual content there will be compared to the grind and chores.

Damn this is long. I'm looking for exploration recs if anyone has any. I've already beat all the metroidvanias in existence, those are cool, but I'd rather have something 3d with more things to do than just fight enemies. I like crafting and building bases.

Some shitty first or third person shooter? kek
An arena game where you just play the same 15 minute matches over and over and over again rather it's card battles, 2d fighters, isometric tower defense, or any other mediocrity?
Nah bro I want to explore cool areas and find secrets. Build awesome bases that are both aesthetic and efficient. Too bad No Man's Sky didn't click for me, that could have been my forever game with the procedural generation if the gameplay loop was more entertaining.

Pinball FX and Genshin Impact mostly, occasionally check in on my old ZZZ and star rail accounts but i have effectively quit playing those.

before this i played Monster Hunter Wilds but i beat the available content and only check in for title updates while i wait for the eventual expansion before i go all in on it, don't want to burn myself out.

could only do so much this prior month as i spent a fair bit of time helping my dad do important maintenance on his 1959 ford as when i helped him swap the fuel pump out i noticed the carburetor was puking gasoline all over the intake before we even started, he is blind so i had to figure shit out as i go but i got it all figured out and the car runs better than it ever has with the brand new Holley 2300, new spark plugs, new fuel filter, ect. i did take a literal shower in gasoline when i crawled under the gas tank to replace and relocated the fuel filter as it was a metal line going into a metal line so i had no way to stop fuel from pouring out and just had to work fast, soaked my back, hair, arm, and the side of my face and had to quickly pull off my shirt and hose myself off as that crap is quite the skin irritant.

Yeah, Since I'm short on time this week I'm playing quick matches of Shadowverse whenever I can, some Jupiter Hell Classic runs too and trying some builds in Buriedbornes 2 when I'm in the shitter.
I'm also learning video editing and boy, it's really hard to do what you envision in your mind and you keep adding or removing effects in a single 3 frames clip, but once it clicks it's the most satisfying thing you'll feel that day, even if nobody else will ever notice it.
I might have to hire an editor if I want to ever release a video though. I keep wasting the whole day just editing 5 frames to perfection and messing around with the audio without even knowing what I'm doing instead of actually making progress. Not that I'm expecting it to be seen, but if some poor sod ends up watching it, I want it to be at least tolerable.

The sad thing is you can make a custom game where yoy don't need to fuel shit. But you still have to gather the same material to craft stuff. There's an option to make crafting free but that's just creative mode at that point.

>just spent all day working on it, should probably be totally done with it tomorrow desu
>just spent the last few hours fixing a bug, I want the player to be able to get multiple copies of the same equipment but with different prefixes like say a mithril battle axe and a vorpal battle axe
>for some reason whenever they'd get a copy it would overwrite the prefix of the old copy
>turned out I kept modifying the same object instead of adding a COPY of the original base object with a new prefix

Wooo, time to wind down with 30 minutes of puyo I guess. Do I put this on my github or is it kind of a newdev fauxpaux to put a little two day 20 hours text based program on your CV?

Brave story
Honestly it hasn't been great. Initially the battle system was fun, but it hasn't changed in the past ten hours or so. The useful skills for each charact is one or two, and the rest are pretty crap. Some skills are clearly an upgrade of the previous one, but they cost the same amount of BP points so why keep the previous one?

I dont know. I also dont really care much for the story. And the villain. Sheesh. Listen, I get it, hes supposed to be the bad guy. But hes just treating everyone all the time, and pretty harsh stuff too like saying hes gonna cut the throat of the neroine of the story. Or hes gonna break open her skull. Hes going to set fire to the whole town and watch the villagers roast inside their cabins.
Like calm the fuck down. I really doubt the japs put this shit there. Its just another case ofsycho translators doing whatever the fuck they feel like to the game.

I finished Blue Shift last night and now I'm trying out Black Mesa. Blue Shift was definitely the weakest of HL1/OF/BS and it felt like it ping-ponged between too many story segments and romhack-tier action sections.
So far Black Mesa is eh (only up to when the military comes in). There's a lot of changes and additions that I just look at and think 'why on earth would you add that when the original was fine', but otherwise it's the same game again. I'm mostly playing it to close the set of games out

Same here. Oh God made a tree of life that evolves every life form, the 107 figure this out and actually stop 108 from being born and use it as a energy source - and then enslave everyone else. So God's program whatever keeps sending an angel to reincarnate into the world to correct this from the moon as the Black Monster every 108 years. Then there's this war where the humans and dragons team up to break away from their slavery, resulting in civilizational fall. So now its the last few 108s trying to hold onto power and recreate their empire. Also they really called them 'winglies' I can't take that seriously ever lol.

>Are you excited for any upcoming games?
Yeah. Next year I'll finally get my Battlefield Vietnam game i always wanted. Well considering Rising Storm has moved back into the soviet direction with 83'. I will be playing the dream game. But i might be a little inexperienced with this IP so i don't know if it's milsim or the simcade direction of both old BF and Red Orchestra.
I prefer simcade direction of where the weapon handling tries to go for realism but is still finely tuned enough that it's not completely handicapped and slow in opposition to high octane close quarters firefights and the battles are happening pretty quick.

I'm also a stealth gamer so i will be playing the new Styx game whenever that releases. Operating on a double A budget so that's pretty rare. Hopefully MGS delta will have inspired some devs to give this genre a shot in development eventually. I don't know what it will take reignite the spark for either the tactical stealth action games of Splinter Cell and MGS, or the more looking glass design focused ones like Thief. I think most people avoid stealth because it's a hard genre to attempt and get right. Requires high competency in programming AI for example.

>I could get virtual fighter 5 REVO when on sale though
Mmm, no, this is another one of those dead kusoge people try to push onto beginners. Really you should always start with the current generation of Street Fighter. Doesn't matter if it sucks, gotta start there. That's where all the players are, all the beginner tutorials, etc. This is also why fighting games are kind of bad, because the quality of the current street fighter kind of defines the caliber of that generation of fighting games. You're learning absolutely nothing just fighting the CPU btw, want to get into matches pronto.

This is fighting games:
https://youtu.be/VOAxY3oRXXc
You get this down, then you learn pressure, mix ups, oki and finally setplay and you're good to go.

My favorite games were ST, Alpha, jojoban, MvC1, MvC2, and VSP. I even got C rank in kof98 and i dont even like or play that shit. But if you really want to learn fighting games you gotta play SF6 unfortunately.

Ignore that cocksucker, any KoF is fine to begin with, with the exception of XIII.
The most recent ones are good to understand modern fighting games, but you can always go to some slower paced ones like '96, '97 or '98.

Real talk with my fellow 30s almost 40s and hell 40s too
What's the phenomenon that causes people to not even go back to play an old game if they're hyped for a new game
Now this could apply to stuff like silk song but it baffles me even harder when it's also for straight up sequels that the younger generations are apparently super hyped for but then despite all the time they have before release they don't go back and play the old games especially if they're connected
What's the deal with that?
>>
>>719769826

Yeah, those games have a shitload of characters, so you're bound to find at least 3 you like a lot in either design or gameplay, and those are gonna be your team for now. Finished the first three Final Fantasies, gonna play IV soon after. Funny enough, this will make it the last Final Fantasy of the original 10 I've played, but not the last one that will be finished. I never finished 6 and 7 for different reasons (basically amounts to losing my saves on both right near the end of each game on different consoles), so I figured I'd save those two in the end as a grand finale. Kind of got an appreciation for the series as I've gone through it, especially seeing the start of specific series staples.

Question for anyone gaming on PC. What modern games do you think are good at crashing unstable overclocks on your GPU? Im not even overclocking specifically, just trying to find games in which they stress the GPU enough to find faults in it. The reason I'm doing so is whether to figure out if my card is actually working or broken since i seem to have issues with running Cyberpunk 2077 for unexplainable reasons. The dedicated benchmarking software like 3D mark can't see to find faults. So I'm looking for some heavy games that would guarantee in crashes. Enough so i can determine whether i decide to RMA my card.

I don’t really understand what virtual machines are, I’ve never experimented with them. My understanding is they are a sandboxes contained executable of an OS. (Which is pretty insane and cool) but I don’t understand how they could ever be 100 percent contained. (People seem to use these for testing out stuff that might have viruses it seems like)

from what I understand I would still need the ISO regardless so if I already have the hardware (my laptops) I don’t see the trouble in trying to get them working.

if you want to share your opinion that’s great I’m all ears. Frankly I’d even like to get something older than XP working one day because mechwarrior 3 is an older game.

Been playing Super Robot Wars Y. It's pretty fun so far. Best one since at least pre-VTX I'd say. Better difficulty level. Maybe my opinion will change. Gonna be playing Silksong once that's out too. Family's helping me with childcare for the day so I can marathon it, should be able to make some good money.

>tfw getting a divorce

Im not quite 30. Im 28 and a half. I feel like I wasted the entirety of 20s on a girl I now have no feelings for. She was a NEET all 5 years of marriage. Then she came out as trans a year ago, got on testosterone and turned into a completely different person. We were trying to stay friends but I did something a few years ago ill regret for the rest of my life that I didn't think much of at the time I came on her in her sleep the guilt from that drives me crazy. She moved to new york with her trans friends a few months ago and she's cutout all contact with me. Its been rough. Even though im not romanticly into her anymore she was my best friend. Id always tell her what vidya i was playing and she'd pretend to care.

Thinking about trying online dating but im kind of enjoying the single life. I live with my parents and don't have to pay a dime to live here. Most of my money goes towards saving or upgrading my PC. Work is pretty tedious and im usually too tired to play much. Have tomorrow off though.

Been playing hollow knight on my steam deck in anticipation for silksong tomorrow. Not sure if I should drop it or not and jump right into silksong when I wake up.

I have some 7oh I plan on taking to get nice and comfy. Don't have anything going on tomorrow. My therapist is taking the week off so I don't have any appointments.

Minus the guilt eating away at me ive been doing ok.

I have tinnitus now and it's hard to game or do anything.

Sucks how tinnitus literally has no cure. If you have it permanently it’s just gg

You get used to it. I've had it since I was like 13. It's really only a problem if I'm in complete silence.
>>
For me I turn on a bathroom fan or a free standing fan or something so I don’t hear the WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE when I try to sleep

31 here, im buying my first house then I'll have to pay 500 mortgage every month

that gives me anxiety but its still better than renting, renting here has reached 900€ per month
>>
Almost everyone I know is renting one of the only dudes I knew who “owned” a house (only half paid off) had to sell it and move back to his hometown because of the job market changing in his field in his state he had been living in. There’s a lot of luck to life. Dude has a good resume and a master of mechanical engineering.

Based demo grinding. StarMaker Story is that idol management one, right? I played a bit and it felt like a weird cross between Princess Maker and Yakuza side content. Rock and Road sounds familiar-was that the rhythm roguelike with the CRT filter or am I mixing it up with something else? Honestly Steam demos are becoming more fun than full releases lately, feel like I’m back in my 2006 flash game era.

The job market changing on you is why no one buys. There is no such thing as permanent stable assured employment. Buying a house almost anywhere is an enormous risk. Almost impossible.

Im almost there bros. I finally have enough money in savings and investments. Im 42, took longer than expected but I finally have everything set up that I can neet the rest of my life. If I play my cards right, I'm looking at 30 to 40 years of pure gaming and visual novels bliss.
>>
>>719779265
the difference is that after X amount of years of paying mortgage you OWN the place you live in

rent doesn't stop, ever, you'll pay it until you leave or die

What does ownership get me
I stop paying mortgage?
>>
>>719779258
Fairly small amount for an average-sized person, I'd say?
>>
>>719779395
yeah.

you don't have to pay it ever again when you own it, usually between 10 to 30 years depending on the deal you make with the bank

the bonus of setting a mortgage is that the payment can be fixed and is not subjected to inflation, so lets say you decided to buy a 115.000$ house in 1995, you start paying 500$ every single month

now lets say you finish your payment in 2025, your last rate would still be 500$ even though back in 1995, 500$ would be worth 1,059$ today due to inflation, so it would be like your mortgage rate would be 250$ in today's money instead of 500$ which is half of what you used to pay in 1995
