How is that game coming along?
Gearing up for this upcoming Demo Day with an overhaul in combat, new scenes, and a cool new armor system.
>>719758634>overhaul in combatDoes it still play like roblox or is your sword combat more interesting now
>>719758751You can swing your arming sword faster if you rapidly click it, the mace causes a lengthier pain animation and is especially effective against armored enemies, and the longswords (Trollglodyte Falcata and Vorpal Reaver) can launch enemies into the air which stuns them when they eventually land. I added the last part in as part of adding in enemy in-fighting because Trollglodytes, when slamming their weapons to the ground, can launch Fygoon into the air; it is only fair that it can happen to enemies and computer-controlled allies as well. Here's a picture of it just being implemented; the broken neck bug has since been fixed.
>>719758634based
>>719758634>>719759037too long, didn't read. also looks like a manchild made it.
Still making my VN about twelve identical sisters, currently redrawing Black to be better. Debating about redrawing White as well.
>>719759434So what other parts of the game have you worked on so far?
>>719759037>>719758634Indian dev. Avoid
>>719758634soul
>>719759474I've written out the first chapter, like 1/3 of the game, in renpy. A little under 25000 lines. I haven't gone back and looked for glitches and errors with the sprites, which'll take a little bit.
>>719759520The preferred nomenclature is "injun". Do better.
I'm going through a tutorial on making a platformer in gamemaker. No experience and no expectations but it's been fun
/v/3's show The /v/erdict will be having an announcement this month about the December show. Stay tuned and don't miss out.
i am making a coop sci fi game where you can shoot people.
>>719759687No.
>still making gamedev threads just to specifically talk about your gameEven when these threads do take off and do well, it still has this stench about it because it's always the same person making the same posts about the same game that has been spammed for so many years. What is the point? Have you ever considered just not posting your game for a week or two?
You can tell its a F*goon initiated thread just by looking at all of the filtered and hidden posts, lolShit thread, ignored.
>>719759754>>719759784The thread was at page 5 when I found it. Should have posted faster next time. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'll be waiting for the Goblinguy to show up.
>>719759584God damnGetting writing down is hard so 25000 lines seems pretty nuts to me
>>719759901ignore the nodevs that are terminally online and this is their social outlet/life
>>719759901You always deny making the threads but you're always the only person posting. And you're going to stay here making sure your game is posted 10 times for every one post that another dev makes.
>>719760342im seeing 2 other games and usually the goblin guy and anime game guy spam way more. something tells me you are just seething
>>719759784It's possible whoever does make the threads has a habit of posting the link to it in a discord where he is permanently lurking. This happens so often though. Like dozens and dozens of times and he always denies making the thread it's like who cares who made the thread, you are the only one here and it therefore sucks.
>>719760524They should also strive to post there game less often especially when it reinforces your delusion that you're part of some kind of gamedev group here.
>>719759901Goblinguy isn't going to be on for the next few days since he'll be playing Cucksong
>>719759741Neat.Also post bussy
>>719760643then why do you even care what they do? stop being a bitch and post your game
>>719760674He's usually diligent with his posting. I doubt he'll give up the opportunity to post about his cool game to play some straight buns.
>>719760826>posting your game in lizard thread #54096409 Why.
>>719760826Careful, dude. To faggerdaggers, asking them to "post their game" is a declaration of war.
>>719760973Why should anyone post their cool game alongside your spam, it just reinforces your delusions. You see everyone as some kind of guest in your clubhouse where you were first in the door everytime and every thread has at least 3 of your lizard pictures. Why would any gamedev place any value whatsoever on a thread that you have infested?
Posting this one last time.>>719654338The link should still work: https://files.catbox.moe/5axwbk.rarI just want this out to the public before Silksong. In the rar there is everything playable I have done. I don't know if I will every finish it but I want to leave some proof that it exists.Anyway feedback is still welcome.
>>719761130>every thread has at least 3 of your lizard pictures.every page. So like right now 5/7 pictures in this thread are from one person. That's gross.
>>719758320its not, i decided to learn math because it seemed important to know if i wanted to program, it's been a few weeks now and i'm 600 pages into a 1500 page algebra textbook so i should be done in another 2 months, currently stuck on logarithms.how important would you say logarithms are to game dev?
>>719761130You don't even have a cool game, do you? Be honest.
>>719761451Just answer the question.>Why would any gamedev place any value whatsoever on a thread that you have infested?
>>719758320Another spritesheet down, a mage dude.Need a couple more and a few more portraits and I've probably got enough for my demo that shows off some of the plot and gives the player a better feel for more of the long-term mechanics that weren't shown off for the single battle demo
>>719761546The only infestation here is that of nodev faggerdaggers like you. Nobody here appreciates you, and your samefagging will not sway anyone.
>>719761741>can't answer the questionThought so. You should really try hard to come up with an answer though. Why would anyone want to post in a thread where I am spamming every page with multiple pictures of MY junk? Do people want to be seen alongside MY things or have I made this place cringe and embarrassing for others? Ask yourself.
>>719761240Your hand-drawn assets look nice

>>719761925I will stop. He can't stop. He isn't capable. Can't even answer simple questions that would require 1% of self reflection.
>>719761925Wouldn't mind adding another Fygoonjak to the collection; I have three so far. The nodev, on the other hand, will probably kill you over it.
>>719761836People post things alongside my own, you absolute spazlord. Just because you have nothing to show for your incessant whining and jerking off to anime porn means nothing in the grander scheme of things. The world will continue just fine without you.
>>719762080>look I made a meme>it's of dinosaurs pointing to my dinosaur game>it's like that meme on the 4chan website with this guy called wojackIncredible.
>>719760973dont bother with the fags otherwise you are just as bad as them >>719758634 post about the new armr system
>>719762217>People post things alongside my ownNot really. And see how you phrased this, you can't even admit it but you think this is your clubhouse and it's okay for there to be 20 retarded dinosaur pictures for devs to "post alongside". Nobody wants to post "alongside" your spam. Why is this so difficult for you to grasp.
>>719762303I assume you are jelly of the fact that people are drawing their own interpretations of my characters while they pass you by? Here, let me post this to make you seethe harder:https://fygoon.com/art/fanart.html
Everytime someone does post their game in a retarded dino edition of these threads he immediately jumps on them and humps there leg then gets proud about it like see look I didn't kill the gamedev threads people are posting their games! But the sad truth is he did kill the gamedev threads. A long long time ago.
>>719759639Stay patient and open-minded and you'll surprise yourself soon. Good luck
I was away and then ill for like half a month but I'm finally going back to working as an aggy again. Mostly just been adding more raw content to the game and thinken about decreasing scope. Before all this happened I was doing a bunch of controller support stuff which has been implemented really well.I was so close to networking into an actual job but looks like it's not going to work out ;_;...
>>719762484If you had actual fans you would probably finish your game and stop spamming here. What you do on this website is wake up and everyday you dodge your permaban for the 8th time so you can force your drivel on people and force them to look at your dinosaur. Doesn't seem like something a winning dev with fans would do.
>>719762392Sure thing:In this latest update, Fygoon now has more suits of armor in addition to his canonical Casual Armor: there's the Regal Armor, the Bone Armor, the Steam Armor, and a super secret one that requires the player to obtain all achievements to earn. These armor sets cause various modifications to your current game session: for instance, the Regal Armor makes all common enemies passive and doubles Fygoon's attack strength. Some armor sets can also provide more challenge: the Bone Armor halves Fygoon's defense against enemy attacks, but improves his ability to earn Fire Peppers. The Steam Armor (pictured) is the most special one, as it provides Fygoon the ability to unleash steam that can stun enemies if he is no longer able to breathe fire; while this armor doubles all Health drops, it comes at the cost of encumbering the Dragon if all firepower is drained (as if he were walking in a snowstorm) since the armor requires heat to power it. The super secret armor's perks cannot be divulged at this time.At the moment, you can view and select which armor set to use in the Extras section of the main menu. You can also view Fygoon's current armor collection in the explorable Fortress Fygoon.
>>719758634>>719759037>>719762951Why don't you just make your own thread about your game?
>>719762684That's a bummerSorry, but you're gonna make it eventually
Been working on the map and hovering over other ships to see their stats before you engage them, as well as put in simple auto-pickups like getting fuel.
>>719763519That's a really cool interface, very immersive
>>719763376I hate it when grifters make threads about their gay little Twitter games and I don't want to be a hypocrite by making a thread dedicated to talking about my game. Consequently, I either wait until a game development thread comes up or I just plain invade preexisting threads to get converts.
>>719760842He said he'd be taking a break to play it a thread or so ago but maybe he'll work on it and play the game
>>719763519Looks cool, is it supposed to be like those old space trader games on science calcs or is it more of a turn based combat thing?
>>719763767>I hate when gamedevs make threads about their gameOf course you do, because that's someone with integrity doing something you can't do. You have decided invading gamedev threads and acting like they are your turf and spamming them is the safest way for you to post your game online without being open to honest feedback, because everyone is so numb to your constant spamming here nobody bothers to give you feedback anymore but at the same time you can avoid being completely ignored like you would anywhere else because your game has no appeal to anyone except yourself.
>>719763767>I just plain invade preexisting threads to get converts. That is not a thing that happens. You are ignored pretty much everywhere except here where you are only acknowledged for being annoying.
>>719761976What kind of stuff are you hoping the publishers can provide you?
>>719763767>I just plain invade preexisting threads to get convertsSo this is what 2+ years of shitting in threads completely unrelated to your game gets you
>>719764278Money. Money is the biggest benefit, but also a publisher that can earn their keep and make our title stand out, leading to increased sales. For context, we have over 100,000 wishlists. The issue is having enough money in the bank for the costs of being full time devs.
I'm trying to make a town castle, but it's just the town area. The castle will be on another map.I have to rework my project so I can put it back on itch. It had gotten taken by an admin so I have to change content. So I'm sort of starting over my project.
>>719764571The buildings are kinda boxy, I recommend checking out what other people have made with the tileset for ideas on how you can mix up their design more
>>719764331I just checked the itch page that's crazy how many reviews are gone I remember there being a lot more. Not a good look for a dev to censor all feedback to their game. And for someone who hates agdg so much and constantly shitposts about them, it seems like 100% of his plays are from the agdg demo day jams. He's entered it like 20 times.
>>719763898Nah nothing that complex, just a roguelite/like space auto battler.
>>719764694To continue this thought, I googled some examples and found this video, might helphttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kf_IZU4_q-M
>>719764331Looking at the demoday reviews. Back before he finally burned up 100% of the goodwill for him, someone asking him to stop ruining threads and his response is "no".
>>719764714Most of the "reviews" were made by retards who made Smurf accounts instead of having the balls to leave a bad review with their normal account.Curious how you speak as if I had personally deleted your 20 reviews from your alternate accounts.
>>719759434Noooo! AI is ba->anons art without AI
>>719764987Whatever. Judging by how your last demoday got zero feedback ( https://itch.io/jam/agdg-demo-day-63/rate/2345141 ) I think it's safe to say you ruined the only reliable source for players for your game. Good work.
>>719764971Imagine seething at me saying my shitposting is non-negotiable. And people say 4chan was where all the trolls stayed - most of you guys are some of the most butthurt pussies on the planet and belong on Reddit.
>>719765026I unironically prefer his drawings over the AI pic someone posted. Weird for you to enter a thread and play victim about AI stuff when nobody was talking about it.
>>719765081You don't even have a game and your refusal to post it only cements that fact. Your words mean absolutely nothing.
>>719758320I'm making a 2hu fangame so I don't even know if it belongs in those threads.
>>719765147It does. Share!
>>719765086>seething you're seethingHow. You told an honest player who respectively encouraged you to come to your senses and you told them you were going to keep shitposting and now your demodays get zero reviews, because you did in fact continue shitposting and ruining threads for the past year. Good job. I don't see anything to seethe about.
>>719765147There's no reason why it wouldn't
>>719765215Post your game.
>>719761240Before I forget, should I post this on /agdg/ too? /vg/ scares me a little.

It gets zero feedback and is dead now because you wanted to be a big deal on 4chan and be Mr. Super Shitposter cool guy who ruins threads and makes them about himself. Now you get nothing for plays or feedback. What's the plan now?
>>719765286No. You'll have to deal with queers like:>>719762813>>719762412>>719761836>>719761546If they don't get you to go away, they'll just try and dox you.

>>719764987>>719765135>>719765394>words mean nothingThis is true. Post itch io statistics
>>719765350You're destroying yourself over a dinosaur game that nobody is playing or is even allowed to give feedback to anymore, so they don't. Your last demo day got zero feedback. And you're calling other people queers?Take a big step back and consider starting a new identity and new game or something, there is zero future to get back to where you were over a year ago with people giving your their honest time and attention. You abused and squandered that. Calling people names won't change anything. Change yourself.

>>719767194I'll take low-budget pixel shit over AAA woke slop any day.
>>719766320Sure thing, but you're not going to like it. Rigging is done in-engine and involves me placing empty gameobjects that serve as bones for which the primitives (natural and deformed) that I use are connected to in order to create characters. Last time I did a normal (in the sense of using a skinned mesh) model, I personally found it to look too generic for the type of game I am making.>>719766315It's an action-adventure computer game. You've managed to get people to play it a few hundred times over 2 years mostly through demodays but your total plays are still only 400. For 2 years of nonstop shilling. >>719767971Next time don't bother asking people for stats if you're just going to dismiss it as a fake
>>719770750I'm not the best person to ask for advice I'm also a beginner... First things first I'm using unity which is obviously overkill for a pixelshit game. Ideally you might wanna use game maker or something. But one perk of using a super popular ancient engine and coding language is that there will be no shortage of documentation/stackoverflow/leddit answers for you to look over unlike if you use something like godot. Great for a beginner. Use ai if you want to bounce some problems off them but you really dont want to fall into the trap of having a whole ass vibe codebase you don't understand at all. Then I studied (read: slacked off and played) NES games. It can be a nice aesthetic if you stick as close as you can to the limitations, some late nes games look great like ninja gaiden 3 and batman, plus it's a lot less time consuming. I'm not an artist. With that aesthetic in mind I feel a lot less aimless because now I can just open up specialised programs like asperite and famistudio and start throwing shit at the wall within properly defined constraints until something good comes out. Plus again there's no shortage of pixel art and 8 bit music tutorials out there.I dunno what else to say. Don't give up, if I can make vidya then you can. Start small if you have to but I decided to make this my first game because I'm stupid and impatient and I want to see the cool game I'm imagining NOW
What's the plan fygoon. Gonna do this for another year? For 450 plays on your widdle itch io counter? After 3 years?
Just think about the insanity of that. We've been forced to see fygoons spam for how many years now, ongoing while he is permabanned and dodging bans, so that he can have a few hundred downloads of his itch.io game. After THREE YEARS. Forget the amount of "work" he has done for nothing, think about the amount of scrolling your fingers have had to do to skim over him in the gamedev threads. For NOTHING.
>>719765350Why aren't you capable of getting yourself to go away? Why are you dodging a permanent ban on this website to force yourself into people's faces here? For this? >>719765551

His negative reputation and past behavior will surface, and he will be doxxed. His horrendous past deeds will be exposed to the public. His identity, Nikolay Raskovskiy, will be harmed, and he will be rejected from any online communities he attempts to engage with. He will have nothing left to do here. His father will become severely disappointed in him, causing struggles within his family; notably between his parents, and will stir conflict with local legal departments. He will attempt to anonymously produce low effort cash grabs, but will be incapable of avoiding his signature style. His games will be intuitively tied to his identity by keen observers, and will harshly flop as well. In a last ditch attempt at developing stable income from game development, he will accrue debt to fund development of these games. After his funding runs deeply into the negatives, he will suffer a psychotic episode, and be forced into rehabilitation. After a period of intense psychological struggle, he will mature enough to leave the internet community. To avoid complications with his harmed identity, he will legally change his name. His life will begin again. He will work low skill entry level jobs until the misery of such a lifestyle forces him into higher education. He will study business, and settle for a management role at a mid-level corporate firm. After establishing a firm financial basis, he will attempt to find a wife and start a family. This will be difficult for him, due to his malignant untreated mental illness. He will reject therapy.Be patient. He will be gone from here soon. Wish him well when he departs.

>>719774035Maybe. I just thought I'd go with 2hu because bullet hell mechanics and I'm a big fan, plus it's still possible to monetise. Also it's significantly more effort to make an original game since I can just rearrange his music and use his characters/world lol.
>>719765551My flop made more than this.
>>719775708There's nothing wrong with projects being based off an existing property, especially one that's lenient enough that allows you to monetize your efforts. It gives you the freedom to work without having to worry about setting up stuff like world building/characters/etc like you mentioned. The only real negative is that you might not get people who aren't interested in that property and even then if your game is good enough you might get people who want to play it regardless. Really, I think the monetization is really the only real problem on making games based off of existing stuff since then you're essentially forced to release it for free

>>719764513Publishers are a scam, dude. I wouldn't go through with it, especially if you got that many WLs already.
>>719764513I talked to my friend/teammate about that, and what he said kind of made a lot of sensein that a publisher will ultimately be just another headache to deal with, it's not as simple as it sounds to "get a publisher", you have to pitch stuff to them and even maybe present feasibility studies as to how much money it can make them to publish your game, shit like that, and it honestly might not be worth the trouble given everything the Steam storefront is already able to help you with, and how well you are already doing on your own
>>719777389>it's ugly but it's workingyou can just give it a fancy border and it should be fine
>>719777717>>719777765>>719778653We're looking at it like this:>Option A: Go with publisher and get an advance of enough money to give all of us job security for the duration of the project plus the means to hire additional talent to help>Option B: Stay totally indie and make a really badass opening act that manages to blow the doors off and be a great successWe honestly expected the crowdfunding campaign to go a lot better than it did based on data we had. Something that kneecapped us hard was that our Chinese and Russian fans were unable to buy in because of payment processor issues, which accounts for a sizable portion of our wishlists. We got approached by new publishers in the last few months so that is why this is now a conversation. One of the terms of our publishing deal, whatever it ends up being, would be a reduced share of revenue for the publisher after certain benchmarks. If it isn't a good deal, we're not going to take it.>everything the Steam storefront is already able to help you with, and how well you are already doing on your ownSteam takes 30% just for being there and we're not really sure how to further leverage them as a partner. It's got the wishlists already.I suppose the real consumer journey question is if we can just run ads and let the sales recoup the costs. At the end of the day we're ok with sharing a ton of money with a publisher if that publisher pulls weight and assumes risk. The game cleared 100,000 wishlists with a budget of $0 to begin with, and we're already big in China which is a huge win. Maybe we just go for it with Early Access and say screw it. Ultimately I've already made plenty of presentations for the game with these internal publisher situations so I'm not really stressing that part. It's a numbers game, and selling more copies with a publisher's help plus cash for dev is better than fewer copies and not being able to pay the bills, forcing people on the team to have to worry about money.
>>719778698yeah probably! a better border and maybe some scrolling background or something like that.
>>719779398well let's also not forget that you're speaking from the perspective of someone with 100k wishlists on your game and like you said you've made several pitches to publishers already. you know more about your situation and what you want more than me. congratulations on that and your other accomplishments so far though
>>719767194you are the 1%
>>719779934Thank you. Ultimately we care most of all about releasing the game in its ideal, feature-complete state. We have a lot of things happening with it, a good amount of them are genuinely novel in the sense that they require a lot of consideration for player agency and making everything the player does feel like it matters. The irony is that the demo doesn't even encapsulate that aspect of the game at all, purely just focused on the basic gameplay which is fun in and of itself. All the extra features are something that take it from a novel game to something really breakout and one of a kind. Most importantly, it's a game for gamers. We recognize that's why the international players are so thoroughly enjoying the game even without being able to read English. The core gameplay itself is fun even when you can't read it. Everything is about "fun" foremost and so long as we make a great product, we will be alright long-term so long as the team stays fed in the process.
Just finished trying out the equipment system for my RPG Maker project with the male base and one set of armor for the female base. Hopefully the webm doesn't look to awful, I suck at making them. Right now, this is all very early stuff.I have a question, and I may ask this in /vrpg/, but I have plugins that can make combat in ARPG fashion similar to A Link to the Past, you can see the character swinging his sword, but I wonder if it's better to stick with a turn based system? The visual plugin doesn't work with sideview battlers so I would be using VisuStella first person battle system plugin along with one of their custom battle systems.

Not dead. One more enemy weapon done, the tentatively-named OP-N Bolt (my least favorite of the Bolt manufacturer puns so far, if anyone has a better one let me know). This is the sidearm version of the Bolt N2-Battery, the multi-mode plasma rifle used by enemy ranged attackers. This one is meant to be an off-hand wield by the higher-threat enemies that can use both the melee class and ranged class attacks in tandem, so they don't have to do equip switching between the Battleprod baton and a rifle. This still needs a holster though, I think, since they'll need the ability to free the off hand to throw grenades. But for now, I'm moving on, I have one actual enemy weapon left on my to-do list and then I can start the accessory/clean-up type shit.
>>719790475love how instead of bullets the magazine holds some cells. Neat.
>>719790643Thank you! I thought the design was more clever on the rifle version (where it's a bolt-action en bloc magazine full of batteries), I mostly just carried the ammo over. For gameplay reasons I want primary enemy projectiles to be energy-based rather than projectile based (the player has certain abilities that work differently based on whether they're blocking/dodging a projectile or an energy attack) so making them all one "product line" by the same MFG and having them all use cell-rounds seemed like a good justification. The Bolt N2-Battery (pic related, and by far the best pun) is my favorite by far.
Alright, did some updates for my game, going to make the projectile launch next.

Still got a mountain of stuff to implement but the groundwork is mostly there
>>719790475>OP-N BoltSince it's meant to be a sidearm/concealed carry weapon I think there may be something usable in the space of "Bolt Carrier Group". There's something with Bolt Carry R I just can't quite find it. It needs to feel more like a model designation, not the name of a racing anime.
