Played the third game some time after that too and it was still decent but crashed a few times so I eventually dropped it. I would say get Risen 2 when its on sale and try it out and refund in case you dislike it as much as the first.

Piranha Bytes made exactly 2 good games 40 years ago and they were so good they were allowed to coast by on boomers desperate for a nostalgia hit. Given it was always such an obvious afterthought to PB, I always wondered why they didn't just make a purely turn based combat system. They'd have gotten a lot more leeway with their stilted animations and shitty mechanics.

There really is not point in playing it unless you've already played Gothic 1/2 multiple times and desperately want a Gothic 3 that isn't shit. Unfortunately Risen isn't it.
