>>719778321It's not that easy. Old engines can't be ported to new consoles/systems with one click. Old engines don't support large resolution textures. It's not all about textures but also polygon count. Formats can have an upper limit of how big the textures can be or polygon count per model. Even if there aren't hard limits, performance can suffer exponentially.

The technology differs wildly now in terms of how these games produce polygons, textures, shadows, lighting so yes, they have to basically redesign the game from the ground-up again and at that point most consoomers won't buy a dated looking game so that's where they "redesign" shit. Most companies don't really do this remake garbage out of maliciousness or incompetence, it's just consoles being console dogshit which necessitates this extra work.
