Honestly? Who the fuck knows.
The team that made 13 is currently working on 7 Remake.
The team that made 15 went on to make Forspoken and shut down shortly after.
The team that made 14 just made 16 so we're probably not gonna see another big release from them for a while, MMO or otherwise.
Who's even left? The Kingdom Hearts team? They're making KH4.
As far as future releases are concerned I think we're gonna have to wait for both KH4 and the next 7 Remake game to be released before we see another mainline Final Fantasy, which might not be until 2028 or 2029.

This is probably the most misguided project of all time.
Can you imagine a timeline where the VIIR doesn't happen, and instead we're getting a new mainline FF every 2-3 years alternating between CBU1 and CBU3?

I don’t think there will ever be another new MMO ever again, final fantasy or otherwise. It’s a genre from another time and 14 only exists because it’s grandfathered in from 2012

Don't know. Don't care. SE is a shell of what it once was, and I lost interest in the FF series a long time ago. Nothing but AAA slop comes from them anymore, and I only enjoy their HD-2D games.

Given that 14 just got a mobile version and 14 is still slowly active. Probably not. I'd put it more likely to be FFXVIII or IX. 14 is definitely winding down and the tech debt is terminal.
