Is Good
>>719801604What am I in for?Never played a BattleTech game before.
>>719801840get YAML but wait til everything is updated for this DLCThere is literally free SLDF atlas II at the end
I haven't played MechWarrior since MW2: Mercenaries. Should I buy?
lobby when?
>>719801940I don't see the appeal of YAML at all. It's already easy to make ridiculously strong versions of any mech and the game as a whole isn't difficult enough to even require you to do that, YAML just seems like the absolutely typical mod bullshit removing all limits and adding overpowered nonsense you don't need.
>>719802057the OG game needed mods to be great, but DLC's fixed it over time as updates, the new dlc took everything people wanted for years as some stuff from clans and backported them back to mech 5.>>719802495there is nothing that adds most of the weapons and mech roster from the tabletop back in game.plus YAML adds the fucking devastator, WHICH SHOULD BE EVEN IN MWO BY NOW... but nope, lets add the Grand Summoner
>>719801840A $500 game that will never ever be fucking finished. I'm so sick and fucking tired of waiting for the updates to stop so I can finally play the finished fucking game.
>>719803391post your most recent screenshot then
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF45tT_CH78Interesting point, since baradul is covering the campaign yes is baradul but what elseThere are lots of Mech 2 Mercs callbacks here, including the first encounter with the clans at the pirate campaign in 3049.Also callbacks to what Tex covered on the Twycross video.>Clan reaches IS planet>Challenges them to a Batchall>IS Doesnt understand what the fuck a Batchall is>Clans steamroll everything>IS keeps asking what the fuck hit them hard without prep. Also, whatever they did here, the game is still the early UE4 build, but the cutscenes are now running on UE5 and arent taxing.
>>719803391The game has felt pretty complete at least since the DLC prior to this, if you ask me. That's still pretty shit, it was in a bad way for fucking years, but I wasn't expecting any further DLC and would have been fine with that.
Formerly MechawarrirorNow Silksong thread!
>>719804669This and clans are getting DLC's for the time being, courtesy of Microsoft and Clans receiving a lots of praise and sells even in japan for a first time location in years since mech 3.
>>719801604How do you access the new campaign? Is it separate from the existing campaign or career modes? Also, is it as good as Clans and the Ghost Bear expansion?
>>719805506Just load the DLC and start the campaign, Also is quite Mech 2 Mercenaries once the clans show up and there are tons of contracts to halt their advance, plus there is a better salvage system, but here there is a story plot With a SLDF Atlas II at the end.
is there like a time limit to start the new campaign missions? like that other horseshit dlcalso bump
>>719808009just open it, the moment you begin the campaign you are under a new company
>>719801604Never played one which one is the best?
>>7198088453 or 4
Is there any way to get double heatsinks besides buying hero mechs? I'm rep 8 and I still have never seen one otherwise.
>>719801604Am playing HBS BattleTech rn so it's definitely up next on my to play list but I have a question: Does it have elementals from the Ghost Bear DLC for MW5C or just the mechs?
>>719801604Is there any reason to play MW1 or 2?I looked at all of them and I incline to start with MW3.
>20 years later>no sequelname a bigger crime
>>719801604Kerensky assassinated
>>719810968Play MW1 if you can somehow find and translate the Japanese version (BattleTech: Ubawareta Seihai)MW2 if you wanna know what all the grogs are talking aboutBut otherwise MW3 is a good start
>>719801604they made Ryana hot
>>719811246even this many years later Mechassault 2 is just not ready to be emulated, I'm not going to play if the mission has a 75% chance of black screening
>>719811246Porting mechwarrior to consoles at all. Consoles simply don't have enough buttons for mechwarrior. The gameplay was much better as a PC exclusive. Also ruined the possibility of mechwarrior ever having more than squads of mechs to command instead of 10s of mechs, vehicles, and aircraft on huge maps like in battletech. Now the gameplay is one four man squad with nothing but assault mechs 99% of the time.
>>719801604Heard MW5 with mods is pretty good. Which ones do I need for it?
>>719812635mechwarrior games just dont have as much sovl
>>719802495being able to tinker around with your mech in the mechlab without bullshit restrictions is 90% of the point of battletech/mechwarrior. that's how every previous mechwarrior game worked and it should've been vanilla behavior
>>719801840play only with mods
>>719809412>Does it have elementalsyes
im waiting for the VR update
>>719811538Someone needs to translate that game(PC98 or the Sharp x68000) or reverse engineer to run on PC.the OG DOS release has issues with dosbox when it comes to save settings and the sound is fucked.
>>719809358They start appearing in stores after a certain date, before that though no you can't, they're rare lostech at that point in the lore so you have to get them from heroes. Maybe some specific variants of non-hero mechs might have them at some points too.
>>719811538>>719814154Why? I played the game, even grabbed all the mech art (would-be IICs since FASA were cheap fucks) from it for the btg booru. It's the exact same game, the static arts just look better because it has quality anime artstyle over the OG DOS stuff. But the game loop/mech gameplay is the same in both versions.
>>719815607Sound design and the art are superior to the DOS version, basically. But the real answer to the best version of MW1 is the SNEShttps://youtu.be/0i1u5uTxT8w?si=SdpCR9Alp_WDYSyH
>>719816029that one, no one will ever hack the game to replace the mechs with proper sprites
>>719801840You may want to mod the jump an/or repair costs unless you prefer the scenario of your small merc company barley scraping by. Heroes has mission chains plugged into the base campaign while Kestral has more direct with "go here to start this", both were enjoyable for me.
>>719802495Yep, that's exactly right.>>719813331>that's how every previous mechwarrior game worked Retard.
>>719803391Fuck off you whining piece of shit
>>719816951NTA but are those mods up to date yet?
>>719804747SHITSONG
>>719817227No idea as I haven't played in some time and I'll be jumping back in for this release but I imagine that it'll be either up to date or someone will have made something similar since all your money being eaten by jump and repair costs was a regular complaint before.
>>719817548Thank you mechbrother
>>719817227They work for me but I learned how to adjust them for DLC a while ago.
>>719817829elaborate
>>719804496>Also, whatever they did here, the game is still the early UE4 build, but the cutscenes are now running on UE5 and arent taxing.how is that possible?
>>719822119UE4 fallback mode for UE5 or something.
>>719801840Bought it could of days ago. You get to play as fucking mech pilot and it's not eva type mech, it's a bulky and heavy walker machine. You can run through buildings, absolutely assrape tanks and apcs and shit loads of dakka. The world also feels big and with a lot of stuff happening around you, with you being just a piece on the galactic board. Theres a lot to be desired, but core is fun. Getting into mech and blowing shit up is fun. What else do you need?
>>719825269You forgot to mention Meeting Duncan Fisher in Solaris
