it kills your phone battery, that's the point
>>
>>719802690
I don't want all that shit on my phone, simple.
>>
>>719802690
No input lag
>>
>>719802690
>Active cooling
>External storage via SD slot
>Built in controls
>Usually more RAM which is useful for Windows emulation
Some phones have the last 3 pts but the first one is the most important
>>

I don't want to use my phone.
>>
Phone suck for gaming though, they're not meant to use blast processing for extended periods of time. They run hot and it destroys your battery health.

This isn't really true. Ive had an Odin 1 pro and Odin 2 max and the input lag has been pretty bad on both.
>>
>>719802690
I would prefer to just use my phone as a cameraphone and not spend ~$100 on a chintzy controller attachment for it that I will never want to actually use anywhere but my house.
>>
>>719803014
what
how does this prevent battery health deterioration? you dumb
>>
>>719802847
They invented power banks for this.
>>
>>719802690
what's the point of an emulation handheld at all? I drive. There's literally no point in my day to day life where I'd ever get any use out of it.
>>
>>719803114
they're a lifesaver on slow work days.
>>
I use phone for many years. I don't want to destroy the battery. It's just extra hassle to deal with if I need to do battery swaps before the thing is otherwise at the end of it's lifespan
>>
>>719802690
if I put a controller on my phone I cant use my phone
>>
>>719803103
>phone with a bulky controller held on by friction and force on the USB-C port alone now has a bulky power bank strapped onto the side somewhere
you know I could use this Ahmed's-clock-tier contraption or I could just pull out a slim device that does all of this without the bullshit
>>
>>719803387
or you could just use your phone which you already own. A razer kishi is only $100 too and it'll be cheaper than whatever handheld you're getting.
>>
>>719803381
you know you can just take off the backbone when you aren't using it right
>>719803387
You're going to have to use a battery bank for handheld emulators anyways, their batteries are usually their biggest weak point, phones usually have much better and higher quality batteries in them, especially if you get a phone thats specifically designed for gaming loads like the redmagic pro 10

or you could just buy a handheld to go alongside your phone so you can use these devices for their respective uses?...
I'm just not going to use my phone to emulate shit because it's too cumbersome lol

I wanted to play bloodborne on a handheld that isnt streaming but actually running on an emulator.

I don’t have or want a mobile phone.
>>
>>719803902
>or you could just buy a handheld to go alongside your phone
thats not the point I'm trying to make, on 'demanding' games (I'm talking stuff like burnout 3 for PS2) you'll be lucky to get 2 hours on most handheld emulators, so if you're worried about needing a powerbank to play emulated games on the go you'll have to have one either way.
>>
>>719802690
I can play switch games without problems on my odin 2 mini. More importantly, I can play everything up to the switch on it without issue.
This includes possible controller issues, cooling, and battery life.
>>
>>719802690
>GBs and GBs of powerful games that’ll drain your battery in 3 minutes

>your phone is needed for everyday essentials so gaming will not be a priority

>you’ll get interrupted by phone calls and text notifications during gaming sessions

>no physical buttons and if you buy a controller for that, it’ll be unpocketable.

I’ll stick to my Flip 2 instead retard, thanks.
>>
>>719802690
Physical buttons and decent dpads/sticks.
>>
>>719804148
Why would you need to play a game more than 2 hours when you're outside?
>>

slow work days and plane flights

I'm an adult so I own my phone and theres nothing a ne phone can do that my 8 year old samsung cant.

Also, I already own multiple handhelds, so why use a phone(see I turned it around!)

Also if you're into old game emulation, there's a huge chance you've been emulating the same games for over 2 decades. The novelty, for me at least, is gone
>>
>>719802690
It honestly comes down to feel. It feels good to play on something that resembles an actual handheld device. I first tried using a Gamesir G8 on my phone and it didn't hit the same. Meanwhile, my RP4 gets used daily, and I carry it around with me almost everywhere I go. Then there's the other advantages like having a dedicated gaming handheld meaning your phone is freed up to do more phone-related things, and it also saves your phone's battery. Oh and also these emulation handhelds, like my RP4, usually have video-out, meaning you can play these games on the TV with a bluetooth controller.
>>
>>719803114
Well I live in a walkable city with good public transit. I use my handheld on the subway on my way to work.
>>
>>719804502
What emulator and drivers are you using? I had a lot of crashing and visual glitches when attempting to emulate switch on an Odin 2 max
>>
>>719805231
I make too much money to play with toys at work anon.
>>
>>719806759
I'm just using Sudachi with the standard drivers it comes with. I think the worst I've seen while playing was audio glitches in Fantasy Life, but besides that everything else has been fine for me.

>>
>>719808814
don't get me wrong I love small gameboy-esque handhelds for gba nes and snes games, they're really comfy, but I'm moreso talking about more powerful handhelds, specifically stuff for ps2 games and even more demanding stuff

do you think handheld batteries are any different or that power banks don't exist?
you keep your battery between 20 and 80, enable battery separation and put the powerbank in your pocket
>>
>>719802847
No, it doesn't kill.
>>
>>719809028
because phone screens have a retarded aspect ratio for retro graming.

God, it looks so sleek. Not getting one though cause I still have a working 3ds. But my god does it look good.

"erm just use powerbanks"
what's different about carrying another heavy piece of tech when I could just have a seperate device? Especially because phone controllers are usually covering your charging port, retard.
>>
>>719802690
it's all in one solution. I do have a backbone. So i don't plan to buy anything until AYN Thor comes out as it will have dual screen for DS and 3DS games.
>>719814989
G8 usb c version has passthrough charging
>>
>>719802690
Everytime I check the phone there is some random app needing to be updated literally everyday, I don't even use the phone, I just have one because everybody else has one and you need a phone nowadays to even sign up for emails and work related crap and it comes with gorillion of preinstalled crap that ask for updates every day I fucking hate phones, worst invention ever technology was a mistake

handhelds are all right
>>
>>719815383
so not only do I have to have a fat ass controller attached to my phone, but I have to have another fat ass powerbank connected
>>
>>719815652
Well yeah, duh. I just wanted to mention that there are USB C controllers that sometimes comes with passthrough charging.
>>
Phones get hot as fuck and the battery is quickly drained. Also the touch screen is soulless compared to physical buttons.
>>
>>719815467
Fucking this.
>>
love my anbernic rg477m
>>
>>719812958
Yeah it looks good but dear god that price. Costs as much as two steam decks. Also what the fuck is is that battery. It won't last you longer than three hours.
>>
>>719819230
You're thinking of the ayaneo pocket, that's an ayn thor. Much cheaper and quite good value
>>
>>719802690
They're great for my kids. I've bought them an anbernic RG40XX for like 60€ with games and they can play everything up to the PSP, and even connect it easily on the TV if they want to play multiplayer. It's really super light and sturdy enough, but if it breaks it's not too much of a big deal anyway. Even for me it's quite practical, I can play anything I want pretty fast and without having to load the roms on my phone, which is always saturated with tons of pictures, videos, music and whatnot. Not sure about the bigger and more expensive ones, maybe a steam deck or equivalent would be preferable, idk.

Tl;dr the cheap ones are great little toys overall. Much better than the Zelda game and watch with 3 games that nitendo sold for about the same price some years ago.

from what i've heard, phones don't have the power management or the heat management to play games for a long time the way dedicated machines do.

but if you're gonna play ~50 hours of games it doesn't matter. and if you're gonna play more then that's a mental illness
