You are laughing, thousands of streamers, YouTubers and women are getting filtered by the diagonal jumping and you are laughing.
>>
why?
>>
>>719840183
to be fair, it is a bad mechanic

>>719840183
I haven't played it. What's so difficult about jumping diagonally?
>>
>>719840183
look the the gameplay Silksong thread, it's also filtering /v/fags

No it's POGOING diagonally actually. It demands MAD airdrift control on the part of the player. I approve but it's really filtering people. Thousands of players' HK muscle memory is not only worthless now but detrimental.
This game will resurface the feeling of being bad at HK again. Even for me and I P5'd

Are people really that bad with angles?
Is it really that hard to properly and automatically calculate an angular descent into a probably moving enemy?
I can understand taking some time to get used to it but damn, being filtered by something so simple is crazy.
>>
>>719842774
The problem is HK muscle memory getting in the way.
>>719840375
No it's not. Just different
>>
>>719840183
Castlevania players eating fantastically, diagonal pogos are usually EXTREMELY overpowered unless they were implemented poorly
>>
>>719842545
I've played commander keen 4,5 and 6
I think I can handle it chap
(but I won't, since I'm not playing as a queer woman)
>>
>>719842774
its bullshit when you try hitting moving targets with it

Specter Knight's dash in Shovel Knight was worse.
>>
>>719842774
The hitboxes are kinda broken, sometimes you just phase right thru the bounce pads
>>
>filtered by a dive kick
KEK
>>
>>719842545
Why would I care about people's muscle memory of a game that is 8 years old, probably more I'm not going to go check
>>
>>719843173
Sounds like an oversight if it's actual broken.

it was a much better implementation of flying swallow and it was woven much better into the platforming.
SS has a cheap imitation of this mechanic that is no where near as well designed.
>>
>>719840183
The Ducktales bounce is already perfect there was no need to change it
>>
>>719843660
>autoplatforming
No, thank you
>>
>>719843660
SS's actually takes skill. Cope
>>
>>719843818
what's "auto" about it retard?
>>
>>719843823
what's the "skill"?
>>
Reminded me of when infinity nikki added a diagonal slam attack and it was cool but when I tried to use the slam to land on a rock I flew forward into a lake and died instead.
>>
>>719840375
can you stop being transphobic for ONE SECOND?!
>>
>>719843246
nta but ginding pantheon 5 does that
I hadn't touched the game in years until last week and I was surprised how much still clicked
>>719843660
Except when it auto tracks to the wrong target, or when you get the wrong angle. Don't get me wrong, I liked Specter, but it was trickier than Hornet's pogo. That tower challenge was brutal.
>>
>>719840375
it's a bad mechanic because it's wasted.
it should be the core mechanic, platforming should be designed around it instead of it just being an after thought.
>>
>>719840183
It's just annoying to use
>jump
>it gets canceled near the end of animation because distance is ridiculously short
>hit the enemy and take damage
>>
>>719844112
>or when you get the wrong angle
how the hell do you get the wrong angle?
are people stupid? use it when you're above the enemy, you will slash diag-down.
use it when you're below and you'll slash diag-up. it's just timing.
>>
>>719840183
imagine getting filtered by a boring flash game lmao
>>
>>719840183
>Diagonal jumping
So it's better to use analog instead d-pad?
>>
>>719844278
assuming they've programed the analogue thresholds & deadzones well, I never have any trouble using analogue in 2D platformers.
>>
Ppl are having a hard time?
Just beat this game without getting hit once.
Sekiro is harder
>>
foot dive!
>>
>jump, use downward attack
>instead of it instantly coming out there's a little prep animation
>hitbox is a lot smaller than hk pogo
>pogoing makes you leap forward a bit, against enemies that like to jump around (quite a lot of them) they can jump backwards into you and there's nothing you can do about it
Don't get me started on the fucking spin jump thing the hunter crest has.
>>
>>719840183
its retarded
>>
>>719844134
there are maps where doing them is required to progress though?
>>
>/v/eddit zoomers getting assblasted by a diagonal kick
I've been training my whole life for this moment. You may kneel now zoomies

>>
>>719844875
it should be a multi purpose move that flows much better. with many different types of things you dash into.
dashing into different things should give different results. it should be the main way you interact with the games gimmicks.
with the variety of gimmicks getting more complex as you go. instead it's all just underwhelming and sloppily executed.
>>
I been playing shinobi and abusing the fuck out of the dive kick so it was natural for me lol
>>
>>719842774
For me it's fine on enemies, but I think I overthink it on the bouncy things for platforming. Seems like it sort of locks onto it but I cant get the hang of it
>>
>>719844704
downward attack is strong on the reaper crest, but upwards attack suffers
>>
>>719845161
>dash diagonally into floor, reach floor
>dash diagonally into enemies, bounce off one way
>dash diagonally into environmentals, bounce off in a different trajectory than the former
sounds good to me
>>719845723
it doesnt, you just have to get used to it
remember, think of the needle, not the center of your character. Hornet dives with the needle a little below her
>>
>>719845246
Shinobi 3 is peak at this. God damn that game is based. I might go play it again.
>>
>>719844704
i dont get how you people are having so much trouble with the dive attack. That thing has me wanting to not switch to any other crest
>>
my problem is misjudging the distance it covers.
>>
>>719842774
People just spent the last two weeks getting muscle memory attacking straight down. So naturally they gonna cry like bitches when it bites them in the ass.

Which is funny as fuck as it took me five minutes to get used to the angles
>>
>>719840183
The game is really hard. The needle feels shorter than ghost's nail.
>>
How can these people beat Consort Radahn but can't dive at an angle?
>>
>>719842774
>Are people really that bad with angles?
its just people using the joystick and its harder to do those diagonals that way
i was frequently missing them until i just switched to dpad during those segments
>>
>>719840375
They overuse platforming so fucking much. Wish I didn't play more than 2 hours on steam, cant refund
>>
>>719840183
But can you SHAW?
>>
>>719847298
>buy platforming game
>upset there's platforming
>>
i miss the lil nigga already
horney feels like she shoulda been dlc or something instead of her own full game
>>
>>719840183
am I the only one having an easier time with the diagonal pogo than vertical?

my only problem is stick drift on my controller
>>
>>719847457
Since when have metroidvanias only focused on autistic directional platforming? 90% of metroidvanias are fighting with light platforming elements nigger
>>
>>719847638
Well that was the original plan.
>>
>>719847127
I bounced off it because it starts with two autoscrollers back to back. Does it get better later?
>>
>>719849424
As someone who says metroidvania im not surprised you are retarded
>>
>>719840183
I'm not laughing. I'm not caring. There's a big difference.
>>
>>719840183
I only played for like 2 hours and while it was a little strange I'm already getting used to it
>>
>>719840183
Would have been real weird to not have her signature moveset from her boss fights in the original game as part of her starting kit. You can get a new crest that basically let's you do a slo-pogo anyway. And what's great is that it's situational. I find myself going back and forth between the diag and the other pogo depending on the area/boss.
>>
>>719842545
people are just bad lol
took me like 10 minutes to get used to this mechanic
