It's bad for cinemascope, granted. But if you consume a lot of both zoomer 16:9 and boomer 4:3 content it's a sane compromise for both. Not planning to buy eck of course but had a laptop like that and it was fine.

It is too underpowered, why would anyone want one in 2025. You really want to game on that fuck huge screen at 1280x800? That just sounds like an awful time.
And can older dx8 games work without any modificationa to software or need to spend hours with bullshit script kitty hacks or something?
>>
>>719854891
I do, its kino.

>>719857279
Based. DDS duology is on my emulation backlog.
>>
My budget tablet from 2019 is more than enough for any task.
>>
>>719854891
I simply don't have a need for the niche it fills.
my phone is enough if I want to play any handheld stuff because I am only interested in game boy era stuff for now.
If I wanted more from a handheld, I would get a deck.
But I don't, so I won't.
>>
>>719857889
What are your favorite gameboy games you played on your phone? Mostly pokemon hacks I am guessing
>>
I don’t see the point in gaming outside of my house unless I’m gaming with somebody else.
>>
>>719854891
I've been clearing my backlog for 2 years using my LCD shitbrick. It's great. Especially if you have other obligations and get less time to play, or don't want to emulate smaller form factor games like 3ds on a desktop pc.
>>
>>719854891
I'm waiting for the Steam Deck 2, which could hit in either 2027 or 2028, most likely 2028.
>>
>>719857681
>dx8 games work
yeah most of them work fine.
you use this thing called dxvk to translate the relevant files into vulkan to make it work.
same method can work to improve some minor issues with newer "old" games like borderlands GOTY enhanced, from what I saw.

>>719857961
Pokemon Unbound, but only because I had already gamed out most of my missed opportunities with NES, SNES, Dreamcast, and Gameboy on a retro site with emulators via my computer.
I intend to go back through megaman battle network again via the phone to see how it goes at some point.
The phone I was using died (pixel 6a and its randomly deleting motherboard) and I have yet to fully kit out my current one.
I am gonna have to get on that soon and swap the OS since android is insisting on being a bitch and banning sideloading apps, if I want to get any updates.

>>
>>719855497
The battery isn't under 3h unless you're playing really fucking heavy games. Sure, it could be better, but you're overreacting.
>too big/heavy
If you ever held it in your hand you'd realize that this is irrelevant because it's one of the most ergonomic handhelds out there. But I get it if you prefer tiny handhelds.
>16:10 aspect ratio
>flaw

>>719858810
You don't need a steam account at all. If you want to emulate Windows games, just go into desktop mode and install Bottles or Lutris.
>>
>>719856634
steamgriddb
powertools
volume mixer
tab master
>>
>>719856634
I don't use this shit.
>>
>>719860691
so i can just emulate ps2 right off the bat? i thought i read you needed a steam account just to use the thing. maybe i will buy one after all.
>>
>>719856634
I got a bunch, but css loader was the first I thought of. Just makes everything look nice.

>>719854891

Console emulation is completely unrelated to Steam. You can just install the emulator directly onto SteamOS, identical to how it would be on any other Linux distribution or Windows.
https://flathub.org/apps/net.pcsx2.PCSX2
Or even install an "all in one" emulator like one of these two:
https://flathub.org/apps/net.retrodeck.retrodeck
https://es-de.org/#Download

The only thing you'd need a Steam account for is buying and installing games using the Steam client..
>>
>>719861843
You can emulate anything right off the bat
>>
>>719854891
On the occasion that I'm somewhere away from my apartment and I absolutely must play a game, I have some on my phone which fits in my pocket.
Normally I just listen to podcasts when I'm out somewhere.
I love that the steam deck brought more support to Linux and Proton though.
>>
Anyone that has used steam should be killed.
