The actual boss was the platforming and paying attention to the environment and it directly uses mechanics that the game just taught you in the previous area. Ending the fight with the rock isnt "ending it early". That's when the fight is intended to end because that's the core gimick of the fight. His bloated health is punishment for players who do not notice the rising air current out of the lava and take advantage. It's TC calling you a retard for not paying attention

Near the elevator just to the west of the Marrow fast travel station there is a jumping section far above Bone Bottom village that requires you to have dash or float, but you can cross if you pogo off of flies. After crossing that path there is a simple door. If you use the simple key to open the simple door you enter the wormways. The wormways are fairly linear so as long as you keep going up you will come out even further above Bone Bottom and it will lead you directly into Shellwood. All you need is 500 Rosary, and the spot right near the elevator has a nice little loop of rosary dropping enemies that can give you 500 in about ten minutes.

I played 10 hours yesterday, last thing I defeated was the giant bug in Hunter's Marsh, which is a zone I backtracked to, very fucking annoying zone, no benches anywhere, and the map bitch is at the end of the zone, before that I defeated Widow and freed the bugs stuck in silk. I am talking out of my ass, but I think I progressed about 25% in the game.
