When are you quitting your job to pursue your dreams?
>>719870620>WOW see!!! if you try you will sell MILLIONS!!!>99,9% of games no one will ever play and wont ever make moneygambler paradox>surely I will win big!!!
>>719870620I don't have any dreams.
>redditors were wrong despite being correct
>>719870620For every Hollow Knight, there are a hundred other indie games that go under everyone’s radar
>>719870620my dreams of never having to work?
>>719870620My dreams where all shattered by society being shit
>>719870620Because it's literally a modern day gold rush. You're better off selling shit to all the people trying to strike big (art, unity plugins, etc).
The true redpill is to never take advice from 4chan. You can decide to follow your dream, or you can decide it's not worth it, but don't make that decision based on the opinions of a website full of butter spiteful crabs who want you to fail
I'm too old for skill based games.Indie devs should stop making games I'm not interested in.
>>719870620when i see how my game does at nextfest next year
>>719870620i don't think i've ever had any dreams, at least ones pertaining to reality
>look i won the lottery!>you can too!
>>719870798I want to stick my All Materia in her ass, if you know what I mean.
>>719870620For every Hollow Knight or Undertale, there are 10,000 indie games that get 4 reviews and 60 lifetime sales.
>>719870798>850x1236What the fuck is this low-res garbage?
>>719870673You're sort of right kinda, if a bit cynical. It is a gamble. However the industry is so full of Minimum Viable Product and pozzed bullshit, it literally has never been a more opportune time to release a good game and make some dough, a lot of these companies (wrongfully) don't even feel like they have to try.
>>719870620They were all right. No one would bet on a one mediocre looking game out of10,000,000 being successful over the others.
Reddit is always wrong as usual
>>719870798Hmmm, spiteful crabs in butter....
>>719870906Shouldn't release trash then.
>>719870853This but the actual lotto is not listening to all the loser cucks, acquiring all the difficult skills to make a game, having talent and taste, and then actually working on your game every day for years. The rest was guaranteed.
>>719870853>>719870673False analogy since HK sold based on merit. Not every indie sidescroller has equal chances of winning, quality matters. The redditors in that screenshot only saw a trailer and didn't know the extend of the actual game let alone how it plays. The actual wisdom to take away from this is that you need to produce something of a certain minimum quality. Then you just need to pull the right levers (sending streamers/youtubers free codes, emailing journalists, shilling on reddit like tjos guy's """"friend """")
>>719870973>mperhaps you should return there
>>719870620I already won a lottery once so now i can just shitpost at wild abandon
>>719871238I can totally see why Hollow Knight is a massive success and something like Lone Fungus isn't. The quality difference is immense.Shame I don't really like either. Many games simply don't click for me. Much prefer something like Astalon instead.
>>719870620>>719870673
I already gave up any semblance of dream taking care of my ill mom
why do so many retards act like this was some lotterythe guy used his skills to make a hit and then marketed it correctly.
>>719871780Because /v/ is terrified to put any effort into anything. The fear of failure gives us this crab in a bucket mentality where we'd rather see people fail than try ourselves.
>>719870673All on red anon, i got this, we are going to win a lot of money
>>719871659thanks for the pic anon, always interesting to learn a bit of historyso the solution was to reinforce the areas where planes coming back DIDNT have bullet holes in
>>719870620>plebbitors still seething Never stops being funny.
>>719871780Getting popular is largely out of your control. No matter how well you polish the game and how much you shill the fuck out of it, the internet could collectively focus on something else entirely because of some streamerbait coinciding in the same week.Dont quit your dayjob, chasing your dream without a big financial cushion or income to sustain yourself is foolish. Not everyone is in a comfortable position to do so.
