It's like the devs fucking hate you and went out of their way to antagonize you at every turn. There's brief moments of discovery and cool bossfights that are just peppered in the absolute endless sludge of tedium and frustration

>>
Games are supposed to be hard, not fun.
>>
>>719883430
The game isn't really hard, I've done like 10 bosses and never died more than 3 times at a boss. It's just extremely obnoxious, frustrating and tedious, with zero respect for your time. I already uninstalled it though.

Hollow Knight was a 6/10, this is a 4/10.

Millions of normies will wake up and retroactively hate Hollow Knight after playing Shitsong. I don't expect this to hit over 85 on Metacritic either

I mean... that's clearly where they put vast majority of the difficulty... a death while exploring is usually just from a silly mistake or rushing and just wastes a bit of your time.

I'm not one of those people who thought the plant bouncing shit was some impossibly hard task

This OP very succinctly stated the same issues I've been having with the game. I only just beat fourth chorus and found greymoor so I'm guessing I'm still fairly early on since Ive only collected 8/28 maps.

They're psychotic addicts that have nothing else in their lives, so their psychology does contortions to justify their current obsession

You need to realize that the vast majority of 'people' are totally insane and riddled with heavy metals, chemicals, microplastics, vaccines etc. that have been interrupting the natural processes of their bodies for their entire lives. Not to mention living in artificial environments bombarded with hostile propaganda specifically designed to undo their psyche to make them easy to manipulate.
>>
>>719883391
It's a game by Australian devs. They're trolling the players at certain points. Cheeky cunts.
>>
>>719883391
All of these are things are exactly the same as how they were in Hollow Knight, aside from diagonal pogo and maybe fewer 2-damage attacks
Why play a sequel to a game of which you hated that many features?
>>
>>719888537
You definitely don't need wall climbing to get over there
>>
>>719888741
90% of bosses did in fact NOT do 2 mask damage in the prequel
I am fully expecting bosses in mid-late game here to do 3 or 4 the way this shit is going
>>
>>719884037
if that was the case almost everyone would be banned
>>
>>719888741
>maybe fewer 2-damage attacks
The first enemy I can remember doing 2 damage in HK is Traitor Lord, and that's a late game optional boss that was considered notable for dealing that much damage at all. Meanwhile here you take that much just from contact with some regular enemies, it's a very significant difference.
>>
This depressed Japanese psychopath figured out that—with so many masochistic self-hating gamers—you could get people addicted to your game more with a *negative* feedback loop than with a positive one; and that fans of your game so addicted will shill for you twice as hard, because negative emotions are stronger than positive ones.

That's it. It's a new psychological manipulation technique that's a kind of reverse Pavlovian conditioning.
>>
the balancing seems out of wack in quite a lot of ways

>maps are massively oversized and full of dead air
Made for adventures as a small bug in a vast world. You have tiktok brain.
>constant dead ends everywhere (marking these on your map requires you to fork over money for an item)
If you cannot remember going to a dead end after doing it twice, you have a tietokone brain.
>environments all look extremely generic and samey
Each zone has a distinct theme.
>rosary beads require you to stand directly on top of them to pick up and will bounce right past you into spikes
Equip the bead collecting charm and predict where you kill enemies.
>any enemy killed on spikes loses all its rosary beads
Same as above.
>same bullshit currency loss on death requires backtracking through half the map or else you lose all those rosary beads forever
Turn your beads to rosaries in starting town or use them.
>basic trashmob enemies that take 10+ hits to kill and damage you for more than 1/3rd of your health bar
Lol getting owned by trashmobs.
>dying at a difficult section requires you to backtrack 5+ minutes just to be able to attempt it again
Search for a closer bench and learn the route back so it takes 1 minute.
>need a fucking paid upgrade to show compass on map and it blocks you from equipping any other exploration charms
Game incentives you to learn the world so you can stop relying on the compass in areas you know by heart later.
>missing one tiny bench in the giant labyrinth map means you can't update your map and lose like 30 minutes of progress upon dying
Learn risk management, you are allowed to turn back instead of pushing on if you feel like your skills can't carry you further.
>>
Games like Hollow Knight and Silksong give a bad name to adventure games. I'm not calling them "metroidvanias" anymore than I'm calling platformers "Marios", that's fucking stupid.

WHY THE FUCK DOES EVERY GAME NOW THINK IT HAS TO BE SOME HARDCORE MASTERPIECE JUST BECAUSE DARK SOULS, HOLLOW KNIGHT, AND DOOM ETERNAL EXIST??? TEDIOUS UNFUN FUCKING SHIT. I DON’T WANT TO MEMORIZE 50 DIFFERENT ATTACK PATTERNS AND SPEND THREE HOURS ROLLING AROUND LIKE A CIRCUS SEAL JUST TO KILL A TUTORIAL BOSS. EVERY INDIE DEV THINKS THEY’RE THE NEXT MIYAZAKI BECAUSE THEY PUT IN A STAMINA BAR AND MAKE THE ENEMIES DO 20 HIT COMBOS. I BOOT UP A PLATFORMER EXPECTING SOME CHILL MARIO STYLE FUN AND SUDDENLY I’M SWEATING BULLETS LIKE I’M IN A DAMN ESPORTS TOURNAMENT. AND DON’T GET ME STARTED ON FUCKING CHECKPOINTS, APPARENTLY THEY’RE TOO CASUAL NOW SO ENJOY GETTING RAPED AND REPLAYING THE SAME 30 MINUTES OVER AND OVER BECAUSE YOU SLIPPED OFF A LEDGE. NOT EVERY GAME NEEDS TO BE A RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE WHERE YOU OVERCOME IMPOSSIBLE ODDS SOMETIMES I JUST WANT TO PRESS BUTTONS AND HAVE FUN WITHOUT WRITING A FUCKING THESIS ON ENEMY TELEGRAPHING.
>>
>>719889709
>but it's things that would be easy to fix unless they double down on their "vision"
It's impossible to fix these many fundamental issues once the cat is out of the bag. You make any major balance changes and the fans will sperge out about you "ruining the game". It's just like what happened with Expedition 33 (far too easy from halfway onward). You can't patch that, people will feel you invalidated their experience.

Half of those complaints are fixable by simply paying the shopkeeper to string the rosaries up into a permenant item you don't lose on death so you always have beads available.

What if the currency is a trick...you're not supposed to get a map. It wants you to yolo and lose coins. Not get attached to material goods. Or directions. It's spiritual. It tricks you into thinking you gotta get a map. That's why lols at the player who got a map, then doesn't tell you where you are. It is a commentary on the industry. I'll beat the game tomorrow and confirm.

I'll just post this in case people are really losing their beads and not just memeing about it.
>if you pause the game and quit to title what happens is the game saves your progress and teleports you to the last bench you sat on
>yeah, literally instant and infinite homeward bone
>do this when you're at 1 hp
>or to just fast travel to the last bench
It works the same way in HK as well, and many other games with this save system, like Blasphemous or Ender Magnolia.
>>
It's similar to when Demon's Souls came out and did a bunch of shit to piss players at the time off. Based devs.
>>
I didn’t play this or HK but my streamer is struggling with it. I agree it’s shit

>Adventures as a small bug in a vast world. You have tiktok brain.
The world is massively bloated and full of backtracking and time-wasting for tiktok zoomers obsessed with "muh content".
>If you cannot remember going to a dead end after doing it twice, you have a tietokone brain.
Except there's about 50 dead ends and the environments are extremely generic and samey
>Each zone has a distinct theme.
Yeah, like the blue zone, gray zone, purple zone, yellow zone. Too bad everything within the zone looks extremely similar and there are almost zero memorable features.
>Equip the bead collecting charm and predict where you kill enemies.
You need to find a charm and waste a slot to do something as simple as pick up rosaries without spilling everywhere.
>Turn your beads to rosaries in starting town or use them.
More backtracking bullshit. There are only a few relevant merchants in the game and they are spread extremely far apart
>Lol getting owned by trashmobs.
No it's just extremely tedious to chip away 10 times at a fucking trashmob you moron.
>Search for a closer bench and learn the route back so it takes 1 minute.
Majority of the time there isn't a closer bench or you waste more time meticulously looking for that bench than just backtracking. Or worse yet, you find a bench but can't unlock it because you just died, now you need to grind even fucking more! Fun!
>Game incentives you to learn the world so you can stop relying on the compass in areas you know by heart later.
By making it as generic and labyrinthine as possible? All not using a compass does is make looking at your map 10x more tedious so almost everyone is going to use it. There is just very little power gain or player expression when you are so limited on slots and such basic features take up slots.
>Learn risk management, you are allowed to turn back instead of pushing on if you feel like your skills can't carry you further.
Even MORE backtracking bullshit

I think you fundamentally don't understand the design. It seems clear to me when you cite
>rosary beads require you to stand directly on top of them to pick up and will bounce right past you into spikes
>any enemy killed on spikes loses all its rosary beads
You cite this as examples of the game hating you. Spikes damage you, spikes kill enemies, and you needn't worry about every single currency that comes off an enemy. Enemies drop paltry sums and you shouldn't be wasting your time attempting to grab all of it everytime. Naturally the currency that falls on spikes disappears, because do not worry about trying to grab them, obviously.
>>
>>719883391
It's a terrible game that rides on the popularity ofg the original.
