Activision is being run by clowns.
>>
>>719884714
Of course that spooked them. They need to be able to make the movie as gay and inclusive as the three blue haired HR Karens say to make it.
>>
>>719884714
Do current Spielberg even capable of making stuff like that? As far as I know the guy only makes drama movies nowadays.
>>
>>719884714
>ACKtivision got spooked by Spielberg
They probably realized he was gonna make it all about killing muzzies instead of making it all about faggots, trannies and foids.
>>
>>719884973
A lot of film directors lose it, I think. Especially in old age.

Yeah, just look at Ridley Scott, after Gladiator 2 even him has to come to terms that he lost it.
>>
>>719884973
Spielberg has always been a "1 good film per franchise" kind of guy.
If anything it shows that if he gets a passion and vision he'll release gold.
But then suits turn up and ask him to make more and he runs out of ideas quick.

If he wanted to do a COD movie and made the first move to get it started it probably would have been fucking kino.
>>
>>719884714
That's the kind of thing I just don't believe. One of the most lauded film director/producer of all time comes to you wanting to direct a movie for your franchise, and you turn tail on it? Regardless if you think that Spielberg has it or not anymore from a business standpoint point that makes no sense.
>>

He asked for full control of the movie's production, from pre-production all the way to final cut, that's a big no-no for Hollywood.

Robin Hood and Prometheus were his last enjoyable films despite their faults, afterward it was either boring, pozzed and pointless for the simple purpose to churn out slop.

iirc it was cod3 that opened with you being an ammo porter for a heavy gunner. You weren't armed, you just followed him and tried to stay alive
and then halfway through the mission he dies. There's no orders telling you how to proceed, no tutorial prompt telling you what to do, just the gun laying there on the ground next to the gunner
the player must, without prompting, pick up the gun and go on the offensive

No, his last films included a self-indulgent autobiography and West Side Story (For a Modern Audience), both of which flopped, and apparently he's currently working on a literal Israeli propaganda film so I assume he only wanted to do this so he can make another jewish summer camp liberation scene.

Besides Spielberg wanting full control, he'd prolly want to do a WW2 movie. Activision must want a modern war film so they have fanservice and the characters like Ghost and Price.

Besides the usual monetary reason I suspect DoD/Pentagon likely intervened because Spielberg would have spun it into a middle-eastern focused film instead and less pozzed as a result which goes against trannymurica's current trajectory of diversity and inclusivity. Basically portraying blacks and browns as evil is haram.
>>
>>719889305
Looking at the timeline for these games, if anything he'd be more likely to make a modern warfare movie than a WWII movie. There's a clear line from his work to the current military shooters, since it all started with Spielberg being involved with the first Medal of Honor game.
Saving Private Ryan > Medal of Honor > Medal of Honor Allied Assault > Call of Duty > Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare > Current era of Call of Duty
What better way to celebrate where the franchise is at than to make another Spielberg movie?

I guess there's a guy called Captain Price who shows up in several of the games. That's about as much of an identity as the series has.

Whatever the intention was, that is NOT how the film turned out. Go rewatch it, Black Hawk Down showcases some of the most miserable situations a modern soldier can find himself in, all in the span of one of the greatest operational cockups in modern military history. Just about the only uplifting part was right at the end during the retreat. I promise you, nobody found that movie to be compelling propaganda to enlist, frankly they were lucky 9/11 happened and gave the USG an excuse to rack up some propaganda wins against illiterate goatfucking herders.

>I promise you, nobody found that movie to be compelling propaganda to enlist,
I think you really don't understand the mind of the kind of person who enlists because of movies. Dick Cheney's position was, yes, there was a cockup, but it was Clinton's half assing it, and treating it like a police action that was the problem. That America needed to go full war mode on these things.

>“If you saw the movie ‘Black Hawk Down’ it portrays the events where we lost 19 soldiers in the battle in Mogadishu, and within weeks, we’d pulled all of our forces out of Somalia. So two lessons, one, they could strike us with impunity; and, two, if they did hit us hard enough, they could change [United States] policy.”

>“What happened, of course, on 9/11 was they escalated, an ever higher level, killed 3,000 Americans, struck us here at home, and so that the approach that we’d taken before, that sort of, ‘well, it’s just a law enforcement problem,’ approach clearly didn’t work,” Cheney added.

This, Spielberg would would shine a light on America's corruption where they send good men into harm's away and that's a massive sin during the trump regime where everything is made to look good in front of the cameras.
Like how they just did a casting call for attractive officers to be props for trump's announcement that he's reforming the Department of War.

>how do they actually know at which point they want to invert time and why?
They keep their memories and bearings which is why they are able to jump so easily between forward and inverted times like the time Neal secretly inverted off-screen at the opera and during the battle in stalsk-12 and the ending and the protag going in to get a piece of the algorithm in the car during the flip. I also just remembered the reverse airport section so I guess you could add it as well, my point being is that it's usually out of necessity more so than initiative but I could be mistaken since I haven't watched it and analyzed it to the minutiae.
>there's no way of stopping yourself going backwards through time if you step through that turnstile, is there?
It just acts as a middle-point, time continues to play or invert out as it did before you stepped in the turnstile so you'd be safe in that regard. The danger comes from other people using the turnstile to invert in order to stop you from inverting which creates a whole lot of paradoxes which is why I stated earlier that inverting living beings wouldn't really work imo and had the film only allowed inanimate objects to invert would have made for a more realistic film imo but I'm not a quantum physicist so what the fuck do I know.

I read the first chapter and dropped it when I figured out that the main character was white and that the author was absolutely clueless about the social underpinnings of cyberpunk as a genre. Everything I've read and seen about it since has confirmed that I made the right call.

It's a "narrative pincer move" You have a central moment and the rest of the movie converges on that moment moving forward and backward through time. The turnstile is the MC's, but there's several others from different characters' perspectives.

It's an analogy for the process of putting a story together, starting with a central thesis or theme or moment of action or drama - literally or represented by the climax - and then building a narrative that converges on it from the beginning and the end. All of Nolan's movies are about storytelling (and, by extension, perception and time).
