>>719909542Agreed it would need to be 1:1 after FFVII shit show. I want the artists to actually remake all the pre-rendered backgrounds and cutscenes, update the character models, but keep it all the same. And put some effort into the menus and presentation of the game.

>>719908003I like how this giant mercenary warship houses an idyllic, dreamlike fantasy highschool. VIII’s story is really odd, but it’s great at establishing a tone and getting you wrapped into its weirdness. You can pick apart the plot all day, but the experience is something unique.

>>719916019I wonder how the Japanese feel about Balamb Garden. It's not like "boarding schools" are unheard of there, but for European nations (and envious Americans), a beautiful boarding school like this is 10/10 masterpiece amazement. Hell, just look at Harry Potter! If you're a white guy, chances are, you absolutely adore the chance of getting to go to Balamb Garden. It looks PERFECT!Sounds perfect, too.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2RW8HWNY8MAnd if you need to got to a nearby town to get away from school, Balamb seaside port is gorgeous and equally calming. And it's all just tucked under a gorgeous mountain range, there are forests surrounding it, a volcanic cave system for regular school trips... PERFECT!!
I'll head there overnight~

>>719908003I have distinct fond memories of skipping school while my parents were in Italy on vacation to play FFVIII all day when I was a freshman I think in HS. I had some printed out pictures of porn at the time that I dumped so many loads to it was likely the most I've ever came in a 24 hour period. I'd get up, play, wack it, play, wack it play, eat lunch, repeat until 3AM.Love FFVIII.

I'm a hardcore fan with FF8, so many times I would even try to escape reality with lucid dreaming, I would be in Balamb Garden where I would often train with Zell in the training center and help Selphie with the Garden Festival, but one day as I was talking to Selphie, we went to my dormitory for a private talk. She immediately said, "You know you could live with us forever.." I gave her a confused look and she continued, "We understand that you live on earth and you REALLY wish to live here". I then said "How..How did you know?" She then giggled and said "Because we've been watching you, silly!"This was a dream come true and I almost cried right there. She then said, "I talked with Headmaster Cid and he agreed that you would be PERFECT for SeeD, you just have to do...one thing". She then held my hand and looked deep into my eyes and said "...You have to kill yourself for the transfer to work correctly." I then gave her some questions, "How long do I have before the deal expires?" She then said "Cid said 3 months.." I added by saying "What's the most painless way?..." She giggled again, "Suicide will require pain buuut...if you want it quick...Get a gun and a nice shot to the head works.I then agreed and she gave me a kiss on the forehead, "I know this will be tough but once it's over and done, you'll get to live here!" I then woke up and this was last week and i purchased a gun. I might actually kill myself because that dream just felt too real to be fake and my life isn't doing so grand.
Beautiful, just beautiful.

>>719933598I forgot to junction, I hate in FF8 that it keeps swapping my party members to those that have no GF attached. If they every make a remake, they need to rectify it.And the grinding is for items. You can get Squall's final weapon early right after this section ends.
>>719933742I'd say the original PC version with mods. The most notable change they did with the remaster is moving the Chocobo World treasures to Angelo Search, so be prepared to leave your playstation on for days if you want that Ribbon.
>>719908665>>719908747>it's the demasterNo, it's not. >>719933982I don't get why they couldn't AI upscale the backgrounds and their artists touch them up? Square Enix has money to do that. The backgrounds in the FF PC versions all look atrocious because of that oversight.

>>719937243>16 years
>>719937559I didn't even think of doing that. From what I remember I just maximised getting some guys who were top tier at passing so they could chuck the ball to my striker with almost guaranteed success from the other side of the field.>>719937481I was too young and dumb to even think of minmaxing when I played jrpgs and I didn't play any more after FFX.
The Laguna storyline with the dragon film inspiring seifer as a kid reminds me of cloud atlas and the film that inspires the robot revolt.
The song when the radio station goes active is so unique and it kicks so much ass It is the only time it plays, I think.
>>719937481Draw spamming is not min/maxing
What the fuck was zorgs problem?
>>719911283The one that i saw once is if you dont lower the controls on the military base that missiles hit the garden and it is game over.

When I worked out you keep your level as low as possible and draw as much high level magic that you can, the game became stupidly EzPz
this game is about child soldiers, pedophilia and satanism.Oh the 90s.
>>719939352They picked up Ward from the prison, travelled the world looking for Ellone, ended up working for a film about Sorceress, her knight and dragon, ended up to Eshtar, first taken slaves and eventually getting the rebellion started against the ruler Adel, sent Adel to space to contain her, Laguna become Eshtar's president and Kyros and Ward his aides
>>719939485don't draw. Instead refine. You can turn your enemeis into Cards or petrify them to get AP but not EXP. You can set which abilities the GF learn
>>719940016I didn't think about of thatI'll do not for my next run in a few years
>>719935141The director for FFTactics who is also overseeing the remaster said that back in the day they would make the JP version first and then simply overwrite the JP master version when making the English version and wouldn't do anything for preservation, and then overwrite the English version for the other languages and then overwrite and overwrite until the original files were long, long gone. He said the only way they managed to make the Remaster was thanks to archival websites they stitched the code together.https://www.pcgamer.com/games/final-fantasy/final-fantasy-tactics-remaster-devs-built-a-replacement-for-its-lost-source-code-from-fansite-downloads-director-says-i-do-want-to-thank-all-of-the-fans-for-all-of-their-help-in-keeping-that-information-archived/

>want to replay FF8 again>I already fucking did several timesThere's just something about this game.
>>719908003>>719917393The high school aesthetic is kino and romantic, but actual IRL high school sucks shit.I WISH high school was like Balamb Garden, and I was disappointed when it wasn’t.
>>719940992>want to replay FF8 again>remember your taste have changed over the decades and FF8 doesn't have any adult content>remember all kinds of shit from childhoodI rather not. Let past stay in past.
>>719922916Technically, FFVIII and KH1 had to be rebuilt from scratch for their remasters, and they’re faithful.
>>719936604>tfw no GF
>>719941147There's just something about the setting and artstyle of FF8. They never did a game with this style again, it was always just Ivaliceshit and openworld slop(FFXV). I think The Bouncer was the only one that really came close. There was Parasite Eve, but that was just New York/Resident Evil 2.
>>719941297I’m not even sure how you’d describe VIII’s artstyle. It’s like Venician sci-fi mixed with 90s teen fashion I guess?

>>71994147380s london is all I can come up with
>>719939352They stayed best friends and never left his side. The short time they separated (after Centra and he got his throat ripped out, literally) they found each other, invaded Esthar to retrieve the kidnapped Ellone and they stayed there since they ended up leading the rebellion to kill the dictating tyrant witch Adel, and the rebellion begged Laguna to be their President to which he couldn't say "no."Kiros and Ward are the two huge dudes in religious habits, all gowned up like green and brown nuns, if you didn't know.More fun facts: before Laguna shipped as the Galbadian foot soldier he was, he and Julia Heartilly fell in love at the bar (where she was singing). He banged her that night at the hotel, then left and never saw her again. She wrote a love song for him that became world-famous "Eyes On Me".https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1VpZhsZL9DQIn her depression, another Galbadian officer convinced her to marry him, so she did. They had a daughter together Rinoa Heartilly, Julia eventually died of loneliness and he became the Galbadian General.Laguna, in his adventures, wound up in Winhill where he met another woman, Raine who was currently raising a girl named Ellone, who's parents were killed in an earlier raid by Esthar soldiers. Laguna and Rain marry and officially adopt Ellone. Esthar raids again, kidnap Ellone (found out to be a non-witch with ESP powers), and Laguna, Kiros & Ward leave to get her back. They succeed, but while Ellone gets sent back to Raine, the three buddies never return to Winhill. Raine turned out to be pregnant with Laguna's son before he left it's Squall, but she died shortly after his birth. The two get sent an orphanage run by Cid Kramer and his wife Edea you know her as "the Witch" possessed by Ultimecia. So, yeah. There's A LOT of lore surrounding Loire. The solider buddies stay together forever.
>>719940992Music.It's the music. You hear the music and you're going to be happy you're playing the game. No joke, it's how music works for humans. We love music.
>>719942904also the visuals. something about the character designs, low poly, the colors, etc. it all comes together really beautifully. too bad about the gameplay though.
>>719943216>too bad about the gameplay though.best gameplay along with 5, 7, 10 and Tactics
>>719942553People try to write-off Laguna as "stupid" and "pointless," but his role in the story is wildly important. He was almost a sort of "Forrest Gump" in how much placement he's found in FF8's social history and the parallels he and Squall end of up having is fascinating to discover.I feel bad for people who try to claim he's "boring."
>>719939958>>719942553Thanks, I had forgotten. Great ending for those guys.
