I played the newly released demos again, here is what I thought of them.
new no soul old full soul
So first, my computer crashed before I could make a post. That thing is really shitting the bed lately I should get a new one and move all my rare pornography off of it before it KO's completely. I have plenty of money I just did 30 days straight of work.Anyway, I played 5 mysterious murders for about 180 seconds or so. Art style was a major turnoff and I didn't care enough move my mouse and keyboard closer so playing it was kind of awkward where I was standing. moving the keyboard closer is only for games that look worthwhile. Anyway, I can infer that you play as a serial killer who sets traps to kill teenagers or something and if I wanted to do that I could play Deception IV which is a way better game with the same concept that hardly anyone heard of you should go play the deception series or maybe it was called the trapt series I forget.
Then I tried Legacy of Ashes. I actually played this demo before and it was pretty dismal but they announced a new, updated, and better demo so I tried again. Demos are free so you don't have to be too harsh and if they improve before release then that is great. And it did look like it was improved, it had a nice opening cutscene but that's all I got to see because it crashed instantly anytime I tried to go beyond the opening video.According to steam forums, one guy did manage to play it so it is playable for some, at least, but I probably have to wait for version 3 of the demo or something before I try again. Or get a new computer. This game gets extra chances because it's a dinosaur island survival horror and I love dinosaur island games.
played sword hero 2dayterrible name okay, felt too like slapping too many systems on for sake of systems
So this one is like that game show, wheel of fortune. No wheel though. just the word part. Actually it might be more like the game show Lingo! but less people have heard of that one.Anyway, you have to guess words and it tells you if you got close. you can not just guess random strings of letters, I tried. The game would be too easy if you could process of elimination your way to the right answer by guessing all the vowels right off the bat everytime.Anyway, don't know if it's a good enough concept to pay for. Decently fun though, who doesn't like guessing which word is the word?
So this Libido Space demo is kind of a take-off of Metroid games. Space Bounty Hunter sent to investigate a distress signal. Obviously a pornographic game. The opening cutscene was actually decently mature. It showed an obviously pregnant girl sending out the call and saying she can't allow the alien to escape the station and then she shoots herself in the head with a shotgun.Maybe that video could have been a clue to send a man to investigate. Oh well, whatever. The store page sort of implies that getting Alien symbiotes in your body is a way to obtain power-ups, which is a somewhat interesting way to add new movement abilities to a metroidvania, like getting wings to fly. This actually happened in Metroid Fusion, anyway, with the X-Virus that kept joining your body because Samus is a genetic freakshow, it's just non sexual in the metroid games. Also your inventory has both contraceptive and fertility pills? Why send either of those things on a rescue mission? Who knows. The actual gameplay is flash game tier, or windows freeware tier, if you prefer. I doubt I'd buy the full game.

Detective Hindsight is about this detective who is named Detective Hindsight, which doesn't really make any sense because he finds a little girl with E.S.P. powers and everything she draws actually comes to pass and you can solve crimes by studying her drawings so if she is the one with the ability to see events that she did not personally witness than SHE should be named Detective Hindsight. It was kind of a funny game, anyway, I liked how she would alter the drawings when she felt like it to "make it better". It's a Obra Dinn/Golden Idol style deduction game. I'll probably get the full game on release.
I've been in like 3 of these threads, and I noticed you never seem to play a platformer. Why is that? Do you just not like them, or do you not know of any?
>>719929891Pure platformers are pretty rare, I usually tend towards metroidvanias, which sort of count, as they do have platforms you jump on and off of. I have played a few though. Kitsune Tails and Forgotton Anne come to mind as examples, but yeah. I guess the answer is I do avoid them, but I'll play high quality platformers sometimes, but I won't play every single one that comes out like I do with survival horror games.I only played Kitsune Tails because it had the stompy-boot from Super Mario Bros 3 though.
I played Bubblegum Galaxy. It's a cute game with a pretty neat sound track but it's designed as a casual game and I'm not a casual. I liked walking around the office. You'll probably like it if you're a real woman.
The Jason Maxx Demo was obviously supposed to be a take-off of Max Payne. Except I never played Max Payne. maybe I should. It was a reasonably funny demo, but short. Not sure if Max Payne was a comedy game originally, too, or if this is Max Payne but if it were funnier.
>>719930613Get off 4chan, then play Max Payne 1 and 2
The Seance of Blake Manor demo has pissed me off, it's like three times in a row they have made the demo time limited. Either put it up or take it down but this wifflewaffling is unacceptable there is absolutely no benefit to having a demo that you do not let people play. The game is clearly good though, so I will pirate it when it comes out. but yeah get fucked with your exclusivity garbage that some consultant told you will "drive up sales". Drive up my blood pressure, more like.>>719930735I still have demos to play! and I have to go to burger king. enh. I can make the doordash people bring me food, I should just do that instead.
oh man kfc has buy one get one free what a deal
Odd Town was a bit involved for a demo so I didn't play it for very long, but it seemed pretty good. I was actually struck by the fact the stairwells were crooked. That's something you never really see. Every game has perfectly right angle staircases. Neat detail, but it wasn't just the staircases, the whole town seemed a little lopsided. Also a comedy game, inspired by the early grand theft auto titles. You get your missions from a payphone, or at least the first mission came from a payphone. There are also wanted levels just like in Grand Theft Auto. pretty decent overall.

I'm actually a major fan of Trails in the Sky. Played and beat like nine of the mainline games, which is more than I can say about mainline Final Fantasy games. The whole general concept of Trails always struck me as an "Anti-Final Fantasy." Where Final Fantasy changes it's setting and characters every game, the dozen or so trails games all take place in the same universe. As well, where Final Fantasy has no actual strategy in it's battles, Trails in the Sky required you to think about what you are doing to win. They let you use status effects on bosses, for one. In Final Fantasy you could never use stuff like Doom or Instant Death or Petrify on bosses. In Trails, you could petrify bosses and just win. The enemy is petrified he can't move. You win. It wouldn't always work, obviously, because it's too cheap of a strategy to work 100% of the time. But it was cool that you could do stuff like that sometimes. But a remake? I don't know. Has a remake ever done anything better than an original? The series started going downhill with Cold Steel anyway and this is just making the originals more like Cold Steel. Fans are also arguing about the new translation. Some say that the original translation was not true to the Japanese Dialogue anyway, like games from that era tended to be, so my nostalgia for the original dialogue is misplaced and the new dialogue is more real than the original dialogue. On the other hand, why on earth should I fucking believe translators are suddenly being "authentic" this time around when they never have been before? they're probably just editing the dialogue again, enh, whatever, I'm not sure about this demo.

Mary Magdalene was not really hot in this one, which makes sense because all popular depictions of her occur at the nativity scene in the manger, when she is younger. This is Jesus around the age of twenty, so, obviously she looks old and haggard like you'd expect someone who lives in the desert to look.Oh and you get a vision toggle like Detective Vision in Batman or Assassin Vision in Hitman, but it's Jesus vision. I don't know how into this game I am, who cares about fetch quests to find John the Baptist? I'd probably have more fun just reading the bible.
Dark Lessons doesn't have a demo yet, but it will have a beta soon, you could probably still sign up for it if you were interested. It's a game where you go to a hot teacher's house to have sex but she tries to kill you instead.
Checkmage! was pretty good. reminds me of pokemon TCG a little, it adds collecting cards to chess. Shorter games too, smaller board, which will save time. Full length chess matches for every encounter would be pretty long as those games aren't short. Unless there's a huge skill difference. Sort of like those newspaper puzzles where you have to solve a chess problem. You don't play the full game, just the ending bit near checkmate. It was pretty decent I might get it on sale.
Rogue Mansion was great, very polished demo. Obviously heavily inspired by Resident Evil, even took it's new inventory layout. A bit difficult, but not overly so, you just need a little practice to get the timing for dodging downpat. Naturally, people in the forums are complaining it's too hard and asking for a difficulty reduction.I noticed some neat details in the demo, too. When you use a bandage a bandage actually appears on the character's arm. For a bit anyway, I think it vanished after a minute. And the mirrors in the mansion all work and really reflect the rooms, except for the player character, which was interesting. Mirrors that don't work would be one thing, but going to the trouble of making a mirror work, but doesn't show human reflections? Implies the twist is going to be that I was a ghost all along or something. Which would make sense.
This is the one my computer crashed while I was playing. So it might be good, I suppose. Plot heavy games are hard to get a feel for from demos anyway. It looks decent, I'll keep my eye on it.
This one I think I would rate as "plays a lot better than it looks." It's always a nice surprise when that happens, cause I do play a lot of trash that plays just like you would it expect it to. I also think this game is a 4chan developer, which is how it came to my attention. He posted about it in Next Fest or something.Good chance I pick this one up.
This is probably the last demo for tonight. Decent plot set up, all the girls had huge tits, judging visual novels can be hard because they are involved games but it seemed to have the right basis to be a decent one. Wishlisted. Also the developers were smart enough to start the demo a ways into the game, rather than slogging through the boring prologue. Show me the cool bits from the get-go rather than the backstory to catch people's interest. The Jesus Christ should have done that by starting me off with a battle against Satan or something.
>>719928674huh. a sword for an arm. cool, I might have to try it out. next time.
this one goes on the list of next time too
This one did have a demo at one point but it's off steam and only on itch.io now for some reason. Not that it matters because according to the description it has men and women trying to eat the player which is super messed up it's only hot when women eat people everyone knows that. who would play a game like this?
this one is worth a try at least.
Enough browsing for new demos I guess, time to take a bath.
>>719932034So much love was put into this remake, how are you unsure about it? I figured other trails fans would love it.
>>719937176I don't know, I'm on the fence about that one. Sometimes you play a whole game and only realize after that it sucks, to use a Final Fantasy Seven Remake example again. It's that whole soul/soulless thing. I'm not sure if I want that to happen to Trails. Also they haven't even finished the plot they started out with. Trails in the sky came out 20 years ago and they still haven't revealed who the Grandmaster is. Can you really be starting with the remakes when you still aren't even done with the original storyline? In this case, playing the demo is a secondary concern, really. I know how it will play. It's the original Trails in the Sky updated to use the Cold Steel engine.Who knows, maybe I'll just pirate this one too? That's usually a fair compromise.
>>719936294>typingwhat?
>>719939209Yeah there are new games coming out with so chatbots implemented. They're out now but they are garbage slapped together and not properly optimized, in the same tier as rpg maker porn games. Now a few indies with proper thought put into them are utilizing ai chatbots for more immersive dialogue. City of Spells features it too. I look forward to seeing how they pan out.
