>you can buy both Expedition 33 and Silksong and still have spent less money than you would've with a single modern AAAslop title
The industry is objectively unsustainable.

The thing about the economy is that it IS sustainable.
In fact, it's unstoppable.
They keep the money circulating at the top level. 90% of the world can starve to death, it won't matter. The economy will continue, and the people making the decisions and have the possibility of stopping it, won't.

The world ended in 2012
Welcome to hell

That's why there's so many layoffs and a lot of the more talked about/break out hits are made from the AA or B tier games on down. Pouring hundreds of millions into a product is going to be studio suicide. A lot of devs are working on their whimper of a last hurrah without knowing it.

Good, burn it all to the ground
Actual fucking change is happening and it's breath of fresh air.

I predict we'll see some big names dying real soon to really accelerate the race to the bottom. my hope is that it is SE is the first to go.

The existence of quality lower-priced games does not mean the existence of garbage higher-priced games is unsustainable, since that's more or less been true for the past 15 years. As long as the ROIC is high enough AAAs will still be made. Whether that'll remain true is another question, of course.

90% of the world can't starve to death, you're being a silly billy, and are failing to account for the vast disparity between our current standard of living, and starvation forced labor.

To give the short version, nearly everybody, including what people regard as the worst nation on earth North Korea, exist well above the minimum conditions for able bodied people to survive, and labor.

This very thread, a unnecessary luxury in itself, is referencing another luxury good.

Lots of third world nations have what we call sin taxes on things like Video games. They sometimes call them "Value Added taxes" and are a flat tax placed on particular goods.

>>719933984
I mean, in regards to companies like Ubisoft? Large organizations have a great deal of assets they can borrow against, and sell off. The biggest player in video games, Microsoft, has so much money in government contracts that their subsidiaries like Bethesda are so beyond the customer model that they can continue indefinitely.

Basically everybody has to start using Linux, and pressuring their governments to start using Linux or AAA video games will continue to suck.

I said they CAN starve to death and it won't matter, not that people WILL starve to death.
Death is a release. Torture is eternal.

for less than the price of a call of duty, skins, and a battle pass, you can buy a french rpg and some good indie sidescroller, which you will enjoy much more

No, people need to do things. You are being a silly billy. You have total economic collapse well before one singular person "Starves to death."
>>
>>719933984
Gen 7 was the beginning of the end
Gaming will never get better, so I can at least watch from the sidelines and wait for it all to collapse. A man can dream
>>
>>719933984
I'd buy Expedition 33 but not Slopsong
>>
>>719933984
GTA6 being shit will be the nuclear bomb to destroy AAA once and for all
>>
>>719935480
It's gonna be a shitty rushed story mode so then R* can focus on the online mode where they make the real money, just like with GTAV. And normies are gonna lap it all up and say it's good despite the game playing the exact same. GTA6 is just gonna be GTAV with new random pedestrians and a new map, everything else will be the same because gameplay is not a priority.
>>
>>719934371
>60
yeah wouldn't that be nice.
