OLED may not be as good as a very high end new old stock CRT. But its very close.
No thanks, I'll keep buying my cheap aoc minileds!
>>719941017Does text still look shit on them?
>>719941298If you get a 4k 27 inch. The high PPI mostly fixes it.
My phone is only five years old, but there are a bunch of burn ins on the top and bottom from the battery indicator and other things.Any benefits you get from OLED are overshadowed by the planned obsolescence of the tech.
>>719941298text looks fine on that Asus one
>>719941017>*burns*
>>719941017Motion blur out the wazoo, plus a list a mile long of other problems. They're terrible for gaming.Plasmas are still the best TV's for (HD) gaming.CRT for everything else (6th gen and below).
>>719941621>Any benefits you get from OLED are overshadowed by the planned obsolescence of the tech.Their lifespan is a fraction of LCDs. It's absurd. Especially considering they cost so much.
>>719941778>>719941621CRT had burn in also. Especially on monocrome monitors.
>>719941621You probably dropped it daily and shoved it in your dirty ass pockets and scratched the fuck out of it.
>>719941942that's not how it works
>>719942056It is if I say it is, twerp. *cracks knuckles, looking smug*
AAAAAAAA!
Techspot used extreme settings like full brightness on all the time and even after 15 months its very faint. My OLED tv got around 6 - 8 hours usage a day for almost 6 years and got no burn in. It was a bit dimmer. I am happy with 6 years. I sold it for a newer OLED tv
>>719941017>organicWhat the fuck? So it's alive?
Poorfags cope thread. Probably all have oled phones too.
>>719941062>pay 800$ for something that burns in within 6 months>pay 200$ thats better in every way but you dont get to be a faggot
>>719941017Not as good in motion clarity. Whenever someone figures out how to make Blur Busters CRT beam simulation/CRT 60hz simulation shader work flawlessly on OLED monitors with shaderglass app then we'll be finally in a more ideal place for high refresh rate OLED monitors. This is a major secondary reason i bought a 240hz 4k OLED monitor, despite knowing my framerates wouldn't be hitting that. To be able to run that specific shader that requires high refresh for optimal results. Or G-sync Pulsar OLEDs might be capable of something similar in the future so that has the potential to be exciting, i haven't seen how that works yet with my own eyes so it's hard to say.Last time i checked it had syncing issues, and i don't know if it ever got addressed. Link to it below:https://github.com/mausimus/ShaderGlass/releases/tag/v1.2.0-bfi-alpha1^ if this gets figured out then we're closed to not needing to discuss CRTs anymore in regards to gaming. If you got it working then maybe i did something wrong. 240hz is minimum.
>>719941895The only way to get burn in with CRT was to let it running at max brightness for over a year or so.OLED burns in after normal use in like 2 months.
>>719942709>OLED burns in after normal use in like 2 months. That's just a blatant lie
>>719942802
I finally bought into the OLED meme and I have to say I didnt notice a difference until I put the OLED right next to my old tv and played the same content at the same time. LCD is like everyone turned off the lights. I'll never go back
>>719942873Silly anon
>>719942975I'm just not really blown away by HDR. It wasn't some life changing thing. I don't really care about whether my content is in HDR or SDR in all honesty.

>>719943756I'm sure 99.9999999999999% of OLEDs are perfect and never fail, that's why they're everywhere and replaced LCD back in 2006 when they first came out :)
>>719943849are you the same anon that's been plaguing these threads for ~2 years now?

>>719941298I've never looked into oled because I don't ever want to think about burn in, do they have clarity issues that results in blurry text or something?
Quality of your monitor dosent really matter. Games run like shit and video bitrate is horible. Only thing you need good monitor is if your work includes any kinda editing.
I'm thinking of getting a new TV soon, what display tech and brand do I get?
>>719945992QD-OLED and WOLED have a non-standard pixel layout that causes this fringing problem, most clearly visible with text.
>>719946595oh dear. is it just a current limitation of the technology, like they can't make the oleds as small as normal leds for the multiple subpixel lights per pixel or something?
>>719946101it's funny how poors always try and validate themselves not having anything good while imposing nobody else should have it either.
>>719946768I believe the problem is that software expects a LCD like pixel layout. Apparently developers can compensate for the different pixel layouts, which Adobe has done for example.
>>719947017wow I never would have thought about displays arranging all the subpixels completely different from each other. man, display tech is complicated
>>719941017Even if OLED didn't burn it, it still has>shitty pixel layout>VRR flicker>low luminance issues (dirty screen/black crush)>aggressive ABLand if you throw in inevitable burn-in on top of all that...are your "perfect blacks" really worth it?
>>719947229nigger we solved this years ago with simple RGB layouts in CRTs and LCDsOLED is just a piece of shit technology
>>719947590It mostly the response time that makes it worth it. Contrast is fantastic but like 90% of all content doesnt have pure blacks to begin with. Vrr flicker is a huge fucking problem tho.As a tv, I love it, its also great for more vintage gaming, but I still use a high end IPS for pc gaming
>>719947741response time is kind of moot when it still suffers from the inherent flaws of sample-and-hold motion display
>>719941621I have had this phone for seven and never had issues and I've never heard anyone with an oled phone having issues. You just had bad luck just like the people who get dead pixels after couple of years in their monitors do. This hardly means that the tech is somehow bad
>>719946768they have to make them flawed so they can sell the next generation
>>719947017>software expects a LCD like pixel layoutIf that is the case, shouldn't the display's firmware handle this by translating or emulating such a layout?
