A SCREENSHOT OF A TIKTOK OF A REDDIT POST
>>
It never ceases to amaze me that so many people don't know how to store electronics. Case in point, exploding PSPs.
>>
>>719962175
Was it exposed to long durations of heat?
>>
>>719962352
now someone just needs to post it on xitter and then make a thread for it on 4chan
>>

Recommend a good anti-plastic-rubber-dissolving agent.
>>

this is true, but joycons are shit tho
>>
>>719962175
The Nintendium mines ran out somewhere around the release of the GBA SP unfortunately.

From the Wii/DS onward they use pretty flimsy plastic

How do you?
>>
>>719962394
they're lithium batteries. It's not about storing, you fucking retard. They are prone to bloating from lack of use and letting the battery drain. The quality control on the PSP battery especially just has poor quality control, which is why you hear about it so much, while you rarely hear about it for DS line and such
>>
>>719962394
I just shove that shit down a drawer and try to find it ten years later.
All my weak ass game boi games have battery issues and I'm not going to try and fix them.
>>
>>719962175
>I stored my 3ds in my car
Reddit is full of shit like this. They regularly post images of their old pets that get mummified because they let them fall behind furniture. They regularly post shit they've refused to repair that now has a dent in it from being walked on. They'll post plenty of lost objects that have fused with something or been warped. They then will consider it "mildly infuriating" like it was something out of their control. They are like bad children.

>>
>>719962294
Yes you can. Most of them don't, actually.
>>
>>719962294
Sure you can. If you keep electronics dry and away from dust they can last a stupidly long time. My original xbox and controllers still work fine. 23+ years later
>>
>>719962175
The DS Phat was the last console made with Nintendium
>>
>>719962537
I disagree. The gamecube's disc drive had a high failure rate. t. Gamecube owner from that era.
>>
>>719963995
I went through 2 xbox drives and a ps2 drive before my GC drive started showing any issues. Just cause it had a handle doesn't mean you should throw it. My first Wii still works btw.
>>
>>719963696
i hate this fucking thing so much because the screen originally didn't work so they replaced it and "wow after that it still works"
>>
>>719963995
I've got two gamecubes and both of the drives still work. Skill issue.

>>
>>719962175
The world’s supply of Nintendium was all completely depleted by the year 2000
>>
>>719962175
This actually happened to me 2 weeks ago. I grabbed my OoT limited edition 3DS and opened it to find out the enamel on the buttons had cracked and started chipping, got really dejected. Then saw the analog stick had some shiny residue like how ps2 controllers sometimes have when you haven't used em in a while, and I tried to rub it off, and with the slightest touch, the analog nub just fucking disintegrated.
Really sad...
Thankfully both the enamel buttons and the analog nub are easily replaceable, so I was able to fix it, but man does it hurt to see that.

Cosmetic skins before digital.
>>
What the fuck? Mine is still fine and I just left it closed up in some drawer. Did he store it in acetone?
>>
I have a New 3DS XL that is in pretty good condition, only thing that kind of annoys me is that the stylus slides out of the stylus hole

no it was after the gb micro, they saved the nintendium they didn't use on the DS' hinges to make those.

They stopped using that long ago, when consoles stopped being made in Germany to become made in China.
Nintendo quality lowered a lot that year, and now is worse.
>>
>>719962175
I had the same thing happen to my launch 3ds and small N3DS. I ended up having to scour Aliexpress for replacements and eventually found some that glide smoothly and feel OEM.
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256803396902772.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.279.2d671802iRRtKT&gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

I also found some glass screen replacements for the top screen to get rid of some scratches that had accumulated. You just heat up the edges of the top screen with a hair dryer and yank out the plastic with a suction cup.

I'm really happy with the glass, it makes the colors look more saturated.

Oh yeah, there's also a popular mod that replaces the right nipple for for one from a thinkpad branded mouse. It increases the surface area and feels much better to use, I fully endorse it.

Circle Pads are an easy part to replace too, even if you're not going to get a rubber capped pad again without cracking open either another 3DS or a Circle Pad Pro to harvest its pad
>>

>>719973736
if that's all they had to replace, then that means it still worked. unless for whatever reason you think your computer stops working if you turn off the monitor. it was still capable of processing information, it just couldn't display it.

There was something fucky going on with the rubber they used for controllers in the early 2010s. My 3DS's nub completely wore off, admittedly after hundreds of hours of use, and my launch PS4's dualshock flaked off completely within literal days of me getting it.
>>
>>719979893
My 3DS's circle pad is as good as new. However, the control stick on my gamecube controllers came off years ago. Now, to be fair, my DS is in a case in my closet, while my gamecube controllers were kept in the open, so maybe that's the difference.

Any plastic designed to be soft touch will start to break down when the humidity gets above 60%

Reject soft touch plastic, period.
