>VR is d... *ACK*
>>719966192No OLED, no buy. Please for the love of Christ let this thing have OLED. PSVR2 has spoiled me on that front
>>719966192
>>719967076
>>719967076>even fewer fucking buttons, d-pad insteadThe other one better have 4 face buttons excluding start select bullshit
>>719966192I refuse to believe this thing is real until an official announcement. I don't trust Valve.
>>719966192Nope, it's still dead.Form factor and locomotion are the limiting factors. VR will have a chance when you can just plug something into your brain, but waggling+scubamask is a dead end.
>>719966690Deckard is supposed to have pancake lenses and normal oled isn't bright enough for that, microoled is too expensive and would turn it into a $2000+ headset. I hate to say it but shit's fucked. It's going to take a few years before microoled is economically viable. Maybe they can make up for it by making the LCDs get bright as fuck, which is just important as inky blacks.
>>719966192more like dickhard lmao
>>719967502>microoled is too expensive and would turn it into a $2000+ headsetYou're saying this like the Index wasn't that expensive relative to the rest of the market when it came out
Unless this shit costs like 500 bucks VR is still dead because it's prohibitively expensive for like 95% of steam users
>>719967328even going as far as models and textures for a hypothetical product shows they're doing SOMETHING for it internally
>>719967630You can do a shit ton of development and then have no product to show for it because you're Valve and your bottom line isn't contingent on actually releasing stuff.
>>719966192>>719967076I just know with the og HTC Vive controllers the plastic started coming apart at the seams. If that webm is real it looks susceptible to that>>719967248how many buttons do you need to play vrchat loli sex erp bro
>>719967380Even if you were completely right deckard is focused on augmenting flat games you sit down and play on a virtual screen that can be high or full FOV, and stereo 3D. Eye tracked foveated rendering also provides a performance advantage that a normal display can't.This isn't even getting into that VR can't die because of porn.
>>719967614You can already buy perfectly adequate poorfag headsets for <$300. This is the high end offering, poorfags need not apply.
>>719967076>>719967150>Get rid of the open hand gimmickFor what purpose
Ok everyone that thought HL3 was being announced, get in lineYou're due for your monthly fell for it again award
>>719967796>VR can't die because of pornis it any good?
>>719967827Wasn't it only there for finger tracking? I bet this have finger tracking anyway, don't need it
>>719967827if it has some kind of finger tracking hardware then it's not necessarilyfinger tracking is legitimately a bit of a meme only useful in VRchat, too
>>719967614Valve doesn't give a fuck. All they need to do is release Half-Life 3 for it and people will buy their new VR in droves. Valve Index/Half-Life Alyx situation a few years back proved that it can work.
>>719968012>>719968065That button on the side implies a grab button so it's doubtful, and aside from finger tracking being able to actually grab the controller to grab something and then let it go is the real reason for it.
>>719967248Are you blind?
>>719968012The finger tracking is almost entirely unused, and the main application in games is the grip detection. It is pretty nice to be able to hold stuff by just holding stuff. But honestly it never worked that great. Maybe I just have exceptionally sweaty palms, but I have to wear gloves for detection to not become "sticky."
>>719966192>1:1 copying meta quest 3 controller
>>719967578That doesn't mean it can be any high price. Index was $1000, not $2000. The economy is also worse now. And sub $600 headsets, let alone sub $1000 headsets have gotten even better in value. Valve also has to face a problems they created, namely people who spent $1000 expecting 3 valve games they talked about and we just got alyx. And valve abandoned steam home, media player, etc and left it in a dog shit state until steamvr 2.0I think they would only do a $2000 headset if they could do multiple SKUs with the screen increasingly getting better but higher price. But microoled is like 1" and you have to design the whole headset around that screen size and 1" lcd or oled for everyone else would suck, and the FOV can't get any better than BSB2. microoled needs to be bigger and cheaper and if you bought it now it would it just sting maybe as early as 2027.
>>719967827It likely has inside out finger tracking like QuestFor a 'meme' feature lots of stuff still supports individual finger movement
>>719968210>but I have to wear gloves for detection to not become "sticky."Definitely a you thing
>>719967614People with $500 should just buy a quest 3, if it's anything like last time valve can't compete with zuck on value so they make headsets above the price tiers he uses
>>719968204The other pic wasn't there when I posted, obviously. Use your brain for 2 seconds
>>719967745This anon sounds crazy but he's actually right. I heard valve was so ready to ship a wireless index refresh that they were designing the packaging for it then they cancelled at the last moment. Without looking into it, it's probably because it was a more expensive index and had no reason to exist because you could just get a quest 2 if you wanted wireless and accept the shit sound but save a shitload of money.
>>719968480Anon. The OP has both controllers
>>719967952Depends entirely who you are, if you like POV and never get bored of it, it's paradise. If you think POV is boring you're just fucked.
>>719967827It still has knuckle straps. The old finger tracking system made the controllers expensive and players were accidentally grabbing things, a button is cheap and better for feedback. Also it has hand tracking with computer vision.
>>719967952>>719968641Well wait that's not true, if you have a good video card you can convert 2d videos to 3d
>>719968075The index was a very small % of even PCVR users on steam
>>719967248The dpad is 2 more buttons not less
