are there any RTS enjoyers on /v/ anymore? what RTS games have you been playing recently?i've been enjoying some starship troopers: terran command (looking forward to the new dlc) and steel division 2.
>>720019637>RTS games have you been playing recently?Starcraft 2 is the answer to this question for the last 10 years.Says enough for the state of the RTS genre
>>720019637This is one of the best RTS i've ever played and i've been queueing nonstop for like two months.I'm waiting on Dust Front RTS and i'm kinda hopeful for Sanctuary Shattered Sun. But even though I love TA/SupCom kind of games, I really wish somebody just took AoE2/4 and made it sci-fi kind of thing like Star Wars Battlegrounds.RTS is the genre that will never die. They're all made to last.
>>720019735why only starcraft 2? surely there's other RTS games you found interesting and wanted to try?>>720019749>BARare you playing the big team games? i wish i enjoyed robot RTS, but i need to play as humans to enjoy RTS.
>>720019913I didn't like the new ones like Tempest Rising. Infested Planet is the most recent RTS I liked.Starcraft 2 has spoiled me too much, esp with all arcade and coop shit.
>>720019637I'm not an RTS enjoyer but BAR.
>>720020326Forgot to addZero Space looks cool, I hope it's campaign focused. There was one other game with race like high tech angels or smth but I forgot the name, also looked cool.
>>720019637>WololoMINE!
>>720019637I guarantee you no one has played all the good RTS out there.
>>720020740what actually happened was people found out they have preferences. why deal with combat when turtling was what you enjoyed the most? city builders it is, then.
>>720019637FAT ASSED COTTAGE CORE VILLAGERS!
>>720019749Is it just supcom on crack or something?Going to download it and try, seen it a lot recently and everyone seems to jerk it off. Any tips for newbs?
>>720021021It's Total Annihilation on steroidsIt was going to be just a remake but it got too big and too good and now it is its own thing. There's 2 coop PvE modes, excellent AI, and the MP is just fun, from duels to 8v8. It just werks.
>>720021021Never ever ever neglect reclaim, all else being equal it will singlehandedly win you matches if you deny enemy reclaim and take it for yourself.People ignore DTs and fortification walls but good placement of them can split up a T1 push for cheap.Nano con turrets give the most build power per metal of anything, use them to furnish your base.LLTs and mexes can self destruct to do large amounts of damage to anything near them, it can stop pushes if your enemy isn't using proper placement.Self destructing denies reclaim.
>>720019637Who's this semen demon?
>>720019637I play Brood War
>>720019749>barafagExtra gay
>>720019637why is she brapping
>>720019637Heroes of Might and Magic. The first one, got hit by a nostalgia wave. It was both much better and much worse than I remembered, but I finally beat it so 8yo me has been avenged.>not an RTSClose enough. Will probably replay Populous 3 next.
>>720020668I love NTR so much it's unreal.
>>720019637BFGA2 is criminally underrated. Not an RTS per se more like RTT, but battles are addictive and fast paced and ramming ships never gets old
>>720022309>Heroes of Might and MagicSir, this is a Wendy's.
>>720021639This, new players don't grasp that killing and eating an enemy commander is an easy jump to T2. Eating metal from the enemy or feeding is what makes the game a knife fight and micro intensive
I'm really surprised how underrated this also is. It's somebody's wet dream and they don't know it exists. It has the W40k Dominion mod on the Workshop working and easy to install as well and its quite fun.
Last RTS I played was Planetary annihilation, love the novelty, hate the difficulty>normal bots are braindead>hard bots swarm aggressivelywhich is fine in 1v1, but 1v3 becomes overwhelming
>>720021452>>720021639I just played and man I suck at RTS. Just tried some random 3v3 AI match on normal difficulty and got smoked every single time.Going to try going bots first and actually getting proper wind farms going. I like going big units but rushing T2 seems bad because the cost is insanely expensive early
>>720019637Regiments is cool. Took a while to get into but now I've racked like 20hrs in past 2 weeks just playing campaigns with different divisions.
>>720023532Do this opening>3 Metal Extractors>1Solar>2Windmills>Factory of choice>1 or 3 ConstructorsStart doing windmills with those while you push and cap with your commander. The Commander is the best frontliner, anything you build is to enforce his push towards the enemy line. Also>Bots are cheaper for the same damage output in paper, but more micro intensive>Tanks are easier for newbies to defend and push, but you need to be smart with your expensesIf you kill an enemy commander eat him and you can jump to a T2 earlyHave fun
>>720023949regiments seems fun, but i just cant play cold war games from non-US perspectives.
>>720024116You're missing out. Shitter Pole and Czech divisions are blast to play with. And of course there are NATO armor divisions for the braindead that you can just attack order and they'll decimate everything in range.
>>720019637genderswapped B^Uckley got that gyatt
being rts unit is misery, you're very likely to perish in completely preventable situation just because of your supvisor's skill issues
>>720021952Basic villager unit from AoE2.
>>720021952>>720024225
>>720023037I hate that RTT is so underrated, I don't get it, is it because it's unintuitive? You can't just A move blobs of units and certain aspects are very unintuitive for people who aren't at least a little interested in military tactics.Compare Myth to any generic medieval RTS, your archers can hit your fighters on the back when they are mixed with enemy in melee, so now you need to consider positionng really hard and it can be frustrating.
>>720024657You'd think your MOBA players would move over to RTT, but I guess they really care about controlling just one unit.
>>720019735Fuck your gookcliker piece of shit faggot
>>720024657i think RTT has the problem that it came out too late after everyone already left RTS to different genres and that they were already done well by lelic in their prime (dow1 and coh) with everyone after fucking it up in some way.
>>720024657give me Codename: Panzers or give me death
>>720019637For the love of god, has someone updated this?
>>720019637Plaplaplap inside the bush
>>720024657In the case of MoW / Gates of Hell specifically, it is very micro intensive.
>>720019749So I missed BAR but played a lot of Zero-K, any idea how they weigh up against each other?
>>720025297
Game is Gates of HellMod is Indomitus.Make sure to complain to the mod developers for removing the ability of Krieg infantry to dig large foxholes since digging entrenchments is half of kriegs appeal
>>720026075You're the person that posted in the /vst/ general right?I've been trying the mod because of your webms and it is really cool. I wish GoHw40k was an actual thing. ty
>>720019637not a single of these games can be played on linux
>>720024245God I wish I saved all those pics anon made and uploaded of anime girls for AOE2, it was great!
>>720026136Dunno what you're talking about but this pic makes me horny
>>720026116Yes. Waiting patiently for the mod makers to add conquest mode, according to their steam posts they are saying 'hopefully' christmas.
>>720024657IT IS THE BANEBLADE!!!
>>720026075how janky is gates of hell? i tried tank warfare: tunisia 1943 and men of war assault squad 2, but didnt like them.
>>720026305If you didnt like MoWAS2, you probably wont like Gates of Hell. Definitely less jank than tunisia 1943 though
>>720026305It depends on the exact reasons you didn't like them, it's a lot less janky than those imo
>>720026305It feels janky when you don't understand it's not a classic RTS but a mix of a 3rd person shooter with every soldier simulated as an RTS. The soldiers won't fire to what they cannot phisically see, no magic bullets. Once you understand it's more about positioning them for their advantage and looking itno the hill elevations and crevices and such, you're going to get insanely invested into it. And then the joy of controlling one in 3rd person or a tank and fucking shit up with your soldiers around is just fun. GoH is really the wet dream of someone out there but it doesn't get the advertisement it could. I really think it is a bit of features overload and people just short circuit their brains while trying to grasp so much gameplay and so many options. But just have fun with the game, it's worth it.
>>720026381What game is this?
>>720026486Gates of Hell with Indomitus mod
>>720026509I see, you can play as/control the soldiers? That's pretty neat.
>>720026449tank warfare: tunisia 1943 was just too janky for me. i couldnt get anything to fire at anything and the controls were just too fucking painful to learn. also wasnt that interested in tunisia.mowas2 was alright, but i disliked the storage shit and how i felt like i needed to control every single guy since he'd do much better if i were aiming for him rather than letting them be retarded by themselves. i dont mind if i can control units more manually, but when it feels like im forced to or they just suck shit then i hate it.
>>720019749>no commander upgradesIt's shit.
>>720026537Yes, you can take direct control of any unit. I should make webms of controlling vehicles now that I think about it
>>720026573get wasted at the frontline
>>720026629>dead before 80% of the missiles can landSquishy! Pathetic!Where was his personal shield? His reinforced armor? His teleportation device?
>>720026593I was suprised when called in a Baneblade and you can control it along with the 11 cannons in the mod. Fun stuffAlso i'm impressed that GoH manages to have tank warfare as cool and detailed as it is. I think it's on par or even better than games like War Thunder, a game about just tanks. And that's just a feature in the overall RTT gameplay.
RTS games with best singleplayer campaigns? Warcraft and Starcraft aside.
>>720026687More commander abuseposting
>>720026702Its good fun. Direct control lets you do cheeky shit like hide tanks inside buildings too
>>720026750
>>720026738best is hard to choose since everyone likes different things in an RTS and campaign. i liked the army men RTS, homeworld 1, dawn of war 1, and starship troopers: terran command campaigns. they all start a little too slow/easy for my liking, but that's just how it is...
>>720026765>cow nearly as big as the tankgod DAMN
>>720026738Red Alert 2HomeworldC&C 3
>>720026061nice
>>720026738I think RTS campaigns should be like puzzle games baked into the sandbox gameplay and they should not only narrate a story, but to teach people to play the game and then jump into MP. That being said, the best like that are the Age of Empires 2 campaigns. They're rich, fun and hard. I don't think there's another RTS that has done it as masterfully as that one.
>>720026013These games are genetically related but their guts are completely different. To me, Zero-K is better but BAR has better production values.
>>720026562It's not really like tank warfare, that one tries to be more of a simulator and is really janky.Unit resuplying is a lot easier now, it can be automatized (there's still the inventory, but units get ammo from crates without you manually doing it).The second point unfortunately is still there and is the thing I dislike the most about these games, I understand we are in the minority though, since one of the main appeals for most people is the direct control.
>>720026738you won't believe me, but it's true
>>720019637If by RTS you mean Real Time Sex, then yeah, there are some enjoyers of that on /v/, even though majority prefer drawings of lolis or are simply homosexual in all but name. We tend to hide and pretend to be one of the Retarded Troon Supporters. This requires us to pretend to like tranime and Sóynyntendo gaymes.

>>720026509>>720026381>RTS with 3rd person direct control
>>720026931>2nd point is still therefug. at least the inventory part is better, but maybe the soldier AI will be better in the future...
>>720027016>Remind your ECO to build anti nukes as early as possible>It's like using a condom: might be ok without it but you shouldn't risk it anyways
>>720027053Dungeon Keeper, my beloved.>th-that's not an RTS!nu-uh
>>720026738Red Alert 2 + Yuri's Revenge.Red Alert 3 was funny as well.Red Alert - no idea I had it installed with all the expansions, but the units look really bad, but what's worse - the pathing is fucked up. You need to keep clicking and guiding your troops or they will fail when faced with any obstacle. So, unfortunately, I did not play through RA campaign and didn't see the cutscenes. But I hear you can see Kane acting as Stalin's advisor in one of the cutscenes. It was hinted even back then that Kane is some supernatural, very long-lived being. He tanked an orbital cannon by GDI all by himself.Yet, C&C 4 and on seem to imply he's some fucking alien and he needed Tiberium to spread as much as possible, so Scrin will notice that and invade for resources, while he uses their, basically, Stargate, to "Ascend". Whatever that means. To me, it sounds like "welp, Earth is fucked, it's ur problem nao peece tru powa rite haha well cya have fun fightin endless streams of alienz lol oh imma alien too I just forgot"

>>720026480I got so burned out on MoW and that's just more of the sameClassic Russian game, a lot of detail but ultimately too janky to really play
>>720027507Persona gaymes are real time strategies, as you make strategic decisions in real time. Base building? It's called the Social Link system. The higher the level of a link the more powerful unit (persona) of that arcana you can fuse. You gain additional units of a different type as you advance the campaign. Who's your enemy? You yorself for making gay decisions instead of maxing your links for max personer tech.
