Rare day where I got not much going on, planning on a lazy sunday type of vibe. Been playing stronghold crusader lately, might also play some foxhole.I used to absolutely love video games, its been my favorite hobby since I was a kid. Nothing else ever seemed as fun to me. I've probably played hundreds of games to completion. Even up until my early 20's, I preferred playing vidya to doing anything else. These days, I'm stuck between gaming and everything else in life. I tell myself eventually I'll have the time and money to play anything I want, and that's good enough for me. I don't need a lot out of life, and I'm not looking for anything in particular I haven't already found. Some people spend their entire lives chasing, but I learned pretty early on that life is best spent in the simple passing moments where you can be at peace, and video games is a great outlet for that. It's fine to want more, but don't let that desire for more interfere with happiness which is most often found in simple things.
When did nintendo go to shit? I am too young to have played the negro64 when it came out but never had a lunchbox cube when they were around. GBA was great and if SNES was like it I would say SNES was peak. Only 64 game I played as kid was the mario 64 DS version. Why do oldfag millenials wank the N64 so much?

Some people sold them off and came back to the platform later, but the ones who were stuck with it, either by being unable or unwilling to resell it, adopted the same sort of resentful bitchiness that Yamauchi did at the time.>To hell with those companies that left, we don't need you, never bother crawling back>We don't need the RPG audience that bolstered our platform in previous generations, they're all retarded NEETs anyway>When Zelda 64 comes out, it'll instantly be thought of as the greatest game forever and ever times infinity and everyone who jumped ship will be sorry thenSound familiar? >>720040540Fell into a brief spiral of playing Rampart. Theres a neat jp only version on nes with little story campaigns. Easy being about red riding hood, normal is a fire emblem looking guy on a generic fantasy quest and hard mode is sengoku stuff. Then theres the gameboy version that we did get in the west but it was a very bland and safe version. In japan it had slimes, gigantic knight enemies and a few bosses. Here it has standard knights, siege towers and nothing.
Do any of you put a lot of money into your machine? Or do you upgrade regularly? It always feels like a waste and I'm unbelievably picky when I upgrade every four years or so.

>>720056079Is RO Latam still full of bots and BRs? That really got me out of it, having to compete for exp against 50+ of them in the same map and not having any other maps to grind because Renewal literally makes only 2-3 maps playable due to how monster levels work now.

There's like a dozen bosses after that.So anyway, I think I'm much, much too shit for Mega Man which is sad. I didn't realize I was this shit.
>>720065823There's unlimited tries, so no need to fret about that. You'll get them after a while, just remember to use your subweapons if you haven't been using them.Nothing wrong about playing with the X Buster only, but the bosses' weapons are also good sometimes.

>>720066498>I'm only 30 and I swear my reflexes are noticeably slowerThis is due to disuse not age. Fine motor and the ability to do cognitively demanding tasks decay over time if not excercised. You have to learn to play video games all over again like a child. The good news is, as an adult, you can do it much faster by using your adult brain.

Anyone else straight up gave up on dating?
it was never an option for me
>>720070421I won't date someone who's uglier than me and those who are at my level have high body count and that disgusts me
>>720070259It took 2 girlfriends for me to realize that I don't really like to be around women, but I still can't shake the feeling that I'm missing out on something in life. Oh well.
>>720069420Why not? I have played Final Fantasy VII for the first time when I was like 27 and had a blast. There are more hardcore (or grind-core, if you know what I mean) JRPGs out there. I beat Phantasy Star II, and I'm sure it's so mellow and easy for a die-hard JRPG fan.
>>720069420I don't try to marathon them, for one.
>>720063704My i5-9400 / 1660 rig is finally not cutting it anymore so I have an i5-14700 / 4070 on order. I'm hoping this one lasts as long as my previous one (which I'll pass off to my wife as her ancient laptop is dying and my son has a more recent system). As usual, not looking forward to having to setup / tweak a new system, but it is a necessary evil.
>>720069420I recently realised I had only hated that genre of games because they're so fucking slow, and if you can fix that they're actually good. Like 80% of your time is waiting for animations to finish.Never liked Pokémon, and never had an interest in trying the older Final Fantasy games, but being able to just bind a button on an emulator to fast forward made me really enjoy both franchises.Guess you can't really do that with modern JRPGs however, gotta endure all those animations (seriously in Gen 1 Pokémon, why do health bars take like 10 seconds to drain after a big hit)
>>720066909>individualy, i can clear each stage no problemYou're pretty much done then? It's just consistency now. Identify where you're dying and just bomb through it, you have an insane amount of resources.

>>720070421I actually found dating after my divorce (I was 38 at the time) was a refreshing change from dating in my teens / early 20's. That being said, if something happens to my current wife then I'm just buying an expensive japanese realistic breast toy and calling it a day.
>>720071496The trick is that most of the people here are adults who talk about video games instead of 20-somethings that complain about nothing constantly.
>>720071817that's because the dynamic changes between men and woman after 30, women start hitting the wall and unless your horrifically ugly or balding in a bad way you will fair better dating than in the past.not only that but a mans ability to provide is also stronger in their 30s which is a highly desirable trait even if it is a bit shallow from the woman.of course i saw this as someone who hasn't dated in their 30s and have been with my wife for 13 years (married for almost 9)
>>720063704I've built a new computer every 3-4 years. I might move to AM6 in 2028, but who knows? I just moved to AM5 this year.

Will be 37 soon. Have a massive backlog but little to no desire to play these days. When I do force myself to play it feels like a chore. The only thing that's been bringing me joy with vidya is when my sis' kids come over and ask to play stuff in my collection.
>>720072556Start with the shortest game maybe. I wouldn't force myself to be honest. Just try things out and put them down if they suck ass. My backlog is also raging high.
>>720071605>>720071723>>720071818>My general talks about video games, not like those other generals. We're one of the good ones!
>>720072681They are right, and you are proving them again. Nobody here is interested in you grinding pixel currency in a gacha. Probably blowing thousands of hours and dollars on temporary pixel.
>>720072681glad you enjoy it friend
Been working through silksong, it’s so hard but kinda fun. A bit too difficult for my liking, though.
>>720040540I've been no-lifing the newest PoE2 league since last Friday, put about 80-90 hours into it so far. So many new games coming out that I'm excited for, but in my old wizened age I'm fighting to not get caught up in FOMO and buy them on release. I have plenty of older shit to play before getting to the newer stuff.I've been watching RedZone all day though, so not much gaming. Gonna hop on do to some XIV raiding later tonight though
>>720064003>720064003While it IS full of BR's Nidd server is more bearable and they clean bots regurlarly. HOWEVER the gms ARE br's and it is a copy paste of BRo's so the HUEing is kinda unavoidable. I'm having fun tho, they just implemented Dorams.
>>720072930i'm the other way aroundwhenever i see a small indie studio make a game that is made for me i try to buy it day one and give it a gamblethey usually have some little sale for day onebut I refuse to buy early access outside very very few exceptionsif i bought a game for cheap that I really liked, i'll buy their next project day 1 full price to support them
>>720073013I wish I had the time or the patience to deal with that shit like you, but I think I'll pass. It's such a shame, since I really wanted to try the new classes, but I'm just gonna wait for RO3 at this point.
>>720073174that's fair, I'm mostly talking about the bigger AAA games though, not the small niche indie games. Agree on the EA slop though, I've been burned one too many times
>>720072851No, I'm pissed because my thread, which was the first thread I made in ages, got deleted because "generals belong in /vg/" despite it not being a general and about a 10 year old game while this one actually is a general and stays up and is again just a place for faggots to doompost
>>720073297oh yeah same 70 eurodollars is just simply too much money for me, and the big budget games i would be into and play for a very long time are just not really made anymorelast game i bought full price was doom eternal and TAG1, only early access game i bought was Quake Championsthe new doom game was too heavy for my pc too run and took a direction further away from what i'm into so didn't even get thatI almost exclusively play indie games and older titles now.

>>720074016nta but competitive games always bring out the worst unfun hyper-meta play possible, way worse than the meta shit other games have including MMOs.i don't know about you but i would rather have fun than deal with that.
I'm playing Fallout New Vegas for the first time, currently in Utah or something and its pretty crazy. 1989

Wound up playing Dragon Quest Builders 1 on Switch 2. Then it crashed. Put it back in Switch 1 and it just werks. Still need to play DK Bananza.
>>720074198I have it in my backlogI have finished Morrowind last year for the first time. Amazing experience, even though there was some suffering in the beginning. Should I play FNV? I have played Fallout 1 and 2 back in the old days.
Been playing some absolutely dreadful games of mechabellum, lost more than 200 mmr (1400 to below 1200) just losing and losing. just a pathetic display from my side
Currently E33. I really want to like this game. The world and the music are beautiful, the characters are really good, it's very soulful, but... The fucking combat system built around autistically memorizing retarded delayed attacks enrages me so much that I don't think I can enjoy it anymore. I got as far as the Visage island and I think I'm done.
>>720074867I'm only 14 hours in myself, so I honestly can't tell you - I just know that I've had it recommended to me with gusto so I bit the bullet. Consider that Fallout 76 has 11k players and Fallout New Vegas, a 15 year old game, has 7.3k players right now. Thats gotta mean something went right
>>720075031You're so close - just turn down the difficulty and press on to the end. Theres no trophy for Expert mode, and the juice is WORTH the squeeze as they say. It could be game of the 2020's, man.
>be 20>post in a 30+ threadproblem?
>>720075048>>720075048>picQuite simple really, they had competent writers. Why Bethesda decided to get rid of theirs between Morrowind and Oblivion I don't know, probably because they wanted to appeal to children / casuals / retards (lowest common denominator) so they thought they didn't need any
>>720075556that gif is older than you
Last time I saw one of these I posted that I was excited about a job interview.. well fellas, I got it! Still working my way through the Silent Hill 2 Remake and working on getting my second character to Master rank in SF6.

>>720048715Integrated graphics are way better than they used to be, but they still suck compared to anything with a recent-ish gpu. A good compromise between performance, cost, and portability would be finding a used 14-inch ASUS G14 gaming laptop with the RTX 3060 gpu. You can find them on ebay/mecari/fbmarketplace sometimes for not much more than the price of a steam deck. Not many alternatives to that one, unless you go for something larger. One nice thing about the steamdeck though is that performance is often well documented for each game, so you at least know what you're getting.
Anyone else here purposefully reduce / not play Multiplayer games at all during Weekends?I love to play during WEEKDAYS when im working and all the Kids are in school. I notice a big difference between the two, Weekdays its just people trying to have fun, Weekends its Sweaty kids trying to play like their fave streamer and just constant crying and screaming.
>>720049018Play 6 (originally released as "3" in the U.S.)If you play 13, I recommend finding a save file or mod to unlock playing on hard mode. Normal is way too easy, but you have to beat the game to raise difficulty.

Do you guys know alternatvie ways to make money I am a dev but shit has been pretty grin right now and i need dough. It also needs to be legal.>>720076836I experienced this today.decided to play a few deadlock matches and the huge majority of the time there were absolute beginners on the teams and it was a one sided steamroll every time, even when i won.never had that problem during the week
>>720040540Can I ask you guys...I'm 34 now, and I feel like only in the past few years I've had a really sharp mental decline. Nothing gets me excited. i can't stick to a game, and I barely visit this site anymore. Don't know if its having 2-4 drinks a day indefinitely, or having had covid literally 5 times, or having nothing to work towards, or disappointing/falling behind the expectations of friend and parents, or having to put on a face everyday for everyone's modern insanity. I grew up a socially stunted neurotic loner, and only recently have I had friends and a girlfriend for the first time in 10+ years, but i still feel fried and broken. I've been here long enough to know more than a few of you guys are doing similarly. how do you cope? Did you do anything that brought lasting improvements?
>>720040540I've already played all the games.
>>72004103135 and I feel the same way. I have kids and land and productive hobbies where I create stuff. It feels like I've already played every type of game and even old stuff I'd rather watch my kids enjoy than actually sit down and play it myself. I can't even imagine GTA6 being something new and enjoyable. It's over.
>>720078578>>720078764Modern games just suck. They're so bad they take away my enjoyment of older games. Also social media turns everyone into a social parasite. So you're on eggshells with what you say and do at all times. Back in the day if I acted like a retard I get beaten. Now if you act like a retard you get blacklisted and banned from everything. I think it's the stress of having to put out your best at all times and not make mistakes. I watched a niece-in-law play Mario Kart World. She's sucks but at least she can make mistakes and not be shitlisted over it. It's enjoyable to watch kids make mistakes and correct them. Course you still need to make sure kids don't do anything dangerous that would destroy them.
>>72004054035 year old here, turning 36 next week.>What are you currently playing?Just finished MGS Delta on PS5, started my Foxhound playthrough for the platinum as it's the only trophy I have left to unlock.Been playing Deus Ex (the PS2 version) on my PS5 which is an interesting port, as well as MK World and Mario Galaxy with my 5 year old daughter on my Switch 2.> Any upcoming games that you're excited for?I've been looking at Cronos as well, but I'm at a point where I'm struggling to decide whether to buy a game on PS5 or Switch 2.

>>720041031I feel this. It helps if you plan gaming ahead of time, as a reward for a shitty day or task.Newer games can be difficult to get into for me as well. Some of them try to be too many stimulating things at once. Some of the simple ones look clean and arcade-y, but overly hold your hand in subtle ways that gets kids hyperstimulated and 30+ gamers frustrated, like the jingling keys thing.

>>720074623nah i just hate people.some things can be skill issue for sure like i dropped Sekiro right before the end as i couldn't beat the second Owl fight and didn't feel like wasting the time it would take to beat it as the parry system never really clicked like it should have.did beat Elden Ring and other fromsoftware games like that but aside from invasions those are solitary experiences and i can beat the game how i want instead of dealing with meta and instead just use what feels good to play even if it isn't 0.1% better but feels like ass.in general i just play video games to relax after work and it just doesn't feel worth my time to deal with other people.

>>720040540>What are you currently playing?Stellar Blade. It is fun, but I suck at action games. I have done PC gaming mostly and it wasn't until last 10 years action games were playable on PC. I don't get how to play action games on a fundamental level. >I have to time attacks so I can parry or dodge when enemy attacks>Some things you can parry and some things you cant dodge>I cant get timing right on some things>I cant parry or dodge right and they add new modes like reflect or counterI beat E33 and could parry everything by the end, so I assumed I was ready to try action games again, but I still suck. > Any upcoming games that you're excited for?Not really. I have tons of games I can play. I think I will play an turn based RPG after Stellar Blade, probably One Piece Odyssey after.

>>720104857>CapesI don't know why I said this. It's called Dispatch.
32Been playing lots of Picross (it’s fun), Forza Horizon 5 (feels like an exact copy of 4 but in a worse region) and Nine Sols (about to battle 3rd boss, piss easy so far, expect to hit the wall around 7th or 8th one). Also,>have 10 days of paid vacation starting next week>think about solo travel to Worst Korea>realize I have no interest whatsoever in it’s culture and most of my hobbies are indoor ones>desire to travel evaporatesWhew, dodged a bullet there.

>>720106004A PC that old can't even emulate dreamcast properly.
Mostly looking forward to having some time off to work on my PS4 backlog some. I don't know if it's a sign of getting older, or the state of the modern gaming industry, but the PS4 doesn't feel like as 12 year old machine.
>33I can never bring myself to play anything. I buy games and then don't play them. The latest being Hell is Us. Bought it a few days ago. Haven't played it once.
>>720106068There's no reason to play fighting games for single player content. It's like the most shallow and boring thing you could possibly play.
>>720106058>Shadowrun BASEDHave you at least tried the newish Shadowrun trilogy?>>720106069You can probably do SNES and older and maybe psp which is still okay
>>720106131Not a sweaty and never will be a sweaty Sorry not sorrySoul calibre has had some great single player content bordering on RPG and good OC donut steel character creation historically
>>720106082PS4 is still getting top notch exclusiveshttps://youtu.be/L4-z9VRNKcQhttps://youtu.be/0ZceqLVCG-sSince AAA is crap now everything is designed to run on a ps4 since ps5 has backwards compatibility. If you have a decent PC this gen is pointless. You'd have to be a total idiot to own a ps5 or switch 2 and literally insane to own an xbox.
>>720040540Nothing, trying to figure out why my graphics card is crashing in Cyberpunk2077, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora and Final Fantasy XV.For whatever reason these games just cause straight up crashes whilst other similarly demanding titles don't. So I'm writing up a report to send to my card manufacturer for RMA process about weird isolated examples like this as being an example of why I have hardware failure. I don't like my chances of being greenlit for approval in GPU replacement since they'd just likely use fur mark or MSI kombuster, 3D mark benchmarks to test for a faulty card, which wouldn't display the issues. I think these games might actually just be some of the most hardware demanding games as to why it happens compared to other titles, they're even harder to run than dedicated raytracing synthetics for some reason. Maybe I should have tried KCD2 for good measure, but I feel like I have a case with 3 games. Just hopefully it gets approved. I might have to go back to playing consoles for the time being whilst this is being sorted out, hopefully it is sorted out that is. It's such a goddamn headache.
>>720106580What card?
>>720106701RTX 5090, paired with a ryzen 7 9800x3d cpuI've done everything like DDU. Tried different drivers, newest to older. Doesn't seem to matter which driver it is. Some drivers are situationally more stable than others. Updated bios. etc. etc.The fact that I'm writing a report like this means I've indeed tried everything.
>>720106870When did you get the parts? Sounds faulty. I would return.
>>720069420Rebirth is literally the only game I've ever just said "I genuinely don't have time for this because I'm a working adult" for. It's a cool game and I actually genuinely appreciate a JRPG having downtime for you to just be in the world or have the characters interact outside of high stress scenarios, but Rebirth had so much of it so spread out that it became actively frustrating. You feel like you do one thing per hour and actually attempting to travel by foot only makes things take even longer. It's a shame, because some of the sidequests are great. I loved the one where you have to chase a dog and Barret goes on a long talk about how much he misses his daughter.I just can't bring myself to put the time in to do it properly since I could finish like 10 other games in that time, and I don't want to skip the side stuff either as I feel like I'm missing shit I'd potentially enjoy. So it's a catch 22
>>720108446Sometime this year. I also had some weird black texture bug in metro exodus enhanced edition if I maxed out the raytracing setting and shading options. But that could also be an engine bug since I find out AMD users complained about it 3 years ago on forums. I might be able to chalk that up as random. But the others I can't.The strange thing it's completely situational. I could play Alan Wake 2, Spider-Man 2, Space Marine 2, Black Myth Wukong, RTX portal maxed out at 4k all without issues including making use of path tracing in them. So it's the strangest problem I've ever encountered of it all being situational and the right games to cause errors. I've generally tested games that are known to be harder to run for whatever reason.
>>720093683Play Angband until you beat it in one sitting.
>>720105920There's so much more you can play on older hardware like that. And since you probably have decent drivers for the hardware you can afford to have WinXP which lets you play all of that without VMs or DOSBox.
