Kshatriya is amazing, many players say it's the peak of the franchise. Anna and Khan are short but sweet. Pavel is pretty fun loud or quiet and is also pretty long. Sniper Team is good if you like stealth but having to reload if you get spotted is annoying. Heavy Team is only a few minutes long but it is the most hideously difficult combat in the series. If you play it on Ranger Hardcore you will want to tear your hair out. I haven't actually played The Tower or Spider Lair.

Artyom has always yapped in the loading screens and endings so it's not like he doesn't have any thoughts or agenda. It's especially jarring when every time they give us control of any other character in the DLCs they talk just fine.
I honestly hope they will turn Artyom into a Miller replacement NPC and let us play as Duke in Metro 4. Exodus already set this up with Artyom leading the rangers and Duke supposedly looking up to him.

Idk about immune disorders, but the whole set-up for Exodus is that you find out that some people are jamming radio all incoming/outgoing radio signals and then you're told that all of the nazi/commie etc wars were just puppeteered by some shadow org. Maybe the book reveals more on them, but I don't think remember the game telling much else. Really, it felt like they left it vague so they can do a "Free the Metro" thing later on.

Playing as duke makes sense but I'd much prefer we play as Alyosha or Idiot, mix it up with a vocal protag who's either an adventurous womaniser or a philosophical muser, duke seemed like a boring blank slate of a dude compared to the other guys, which I guess makes him a good fit to start a new story

Novosibirsk as a whole was just pure kino, going back to the metro proper on a snowy graveyard of a town as the final stage of the game, the dlc showing just how hopeless everything was, the supernatural stuff finally coming back right before meeting the gorillas, by far the best setting in exodus
