The reason why kit and surge work so well is because they tap into that 90s/2000s edgy/goth aesthetic that so many other people trying to capitalize on fail to grasp. They look like characters you would see from the SA2 or shadow the hedgehog era, or late 90s where everyone was trying to make cool and badass characters to sell to delinquents
