You now are reminded "that alice twilight should have been the final boss of nmh 2"

NMH2 is one of the only "revenge bad" stories that actually works because the vengeance is for an NPC you talk to like 5 times in the first game, and it really makes no difference to me whether Jasper lives or dies. I really only think it's better that he's dead on the principle of him murdering an innocent man, but it's certainly not worth what Travis had to do to get to him, and his freakout after killing Alice is emblematic of that. He was just killing Jasper out of obligation by the end.
>>
I don't know. I think it makes sense for Suda to bring up some random son as a villain because you killed some random NPC family from the first game. It works in theory. Execution of it was where it kinda fell flat if you compare the final boss for the first game.

>>720155601
Never heard it before.

Heard this one before, it was wrong then and it is wrong now. The Battman is a unique anticlimax and it’s much better than whatever the fuck lame shit happened with FU and Damon.

I still haven't played 3
Should I even bother?
I am a huge Suda fan but with Grasshopper being constantly downsized and relying on Unreal slop that removes all the SOUL his games have visuals and gameplay feel wise I just don't know if I should even bother.

absolutely not

it's the unholy trifecta of GARBAGE
>visuals
everything looks all weird and fucked up, just looking at each sector. somehow they recreated all the classic stores from nmh (even grampaw's 30 cent dog food tacos), yet all the pedestrians are these weird neo-futuristic dressing weirdos that look so out of place in the setting. that's not even mentioning that all the new areas looking incomplete, because they were incomplete. one area, "neo-brazil," is a gigantic open field. there's another half of the area that's blocked off, that at no point do you ever get to go to. in fact, every area has a gigantic portion blotted out on the map, you just end up noticing it at neo-brazil because it's that barren
>gameplay
in theory, travis's beam katana is kind of a fusion of each beam katana he's used throughout the series, which you would expect to give you insane versatility and control over how you play. in practice, you just mash the light attack button because that gives you the most damage output. also, the glove powers just remove any sense of difficulty from the game. the bosses take about 15 seconds to chew through, while the challenge encounters can take a few minutes. i defeated the second boss in nine seconds.
>SOUL
henry does not look, sound, or act like henry because plot. shinobu is KO'd until the end of the game. bad girl's bad dad gets killed in a bad way, so she spends the whole game crying in a hotel room like jon blow just watched soulja boy play braid for the first time
>>
IM NOT DONE
dr naomi is a tree now. that weird guy from travis strikes again? the guy that adopted dr juvenile, who ended up becoming a serial killer? you don't meet him but you meet his son after doing some asinine hidden sidequest to find him all around the map, and the encounter boils down to "travis, it is i! the son of mr. doppelganger! i won't fight you, but that would be pretty cool, huh?" and he's gone forever. also, like five or six bosses are fakeouts, as in, the boss shows up, gets killed, and then you fight someone else. fuck, sometimes they die before travis ever knows of their existence! you end up fighting destroyman 100 because sylvia, who is in this game by the way, shows up and says "oh gee, the boss is dead? well, we'll just have to think of a different thing for you to fight." oh yeah, sylvia is in the game. travis really wants to speak to her throughout the game, but she disappears every time he tries to talk to her. he never gets to talk to sylvia like he wanted to. he just drops it at some point. the game is nothing. it says nothing, does nothing, and makes you feel nothing.

The bosses and enemies are all weird aliens with shit designs. Even though I kinda like the personalities of them, they're still really forgettable. On top there being no actual levels you go through other than what stage you fight the boss. The overworld starts with a more expanded Santa Destroy, and all the other overworlds you access feel less and less for there to explore. You get this feeling that areas that are marked out in no access red would unlock eventually, and nope. You're expecting the large space ship in the center to be something and it's just a hallway to the final boss.
>>
>>720164605
The bosses all have those quirky action figure merch intros too. NMH3 is one shitty clusterfuck game. What was Suda thinking?

Glad to see NMH3 is being properly acknowledged as the piece of shit that it is.

If you want to recapture the experience NMH1 and 2 gave you, hell no. If you want Undertale-level meta comedy, heckin’ cameo references like Bad Girl being brought back purely out of popularity power and Suda being so salty about being left out of Smash he made the final fight just be his own Smash, uh…I mean, it’s functional.

As a game, it’s fine. The problem is NMH’s strongest selling point is as an experience, not a game. And NMH 3 is to it what Saints Row 3 was to Saints Row.
>>
>>720158506
2 is almost as good as 1 and I'm tired of pretending that it's not.
>>
>>720171846
When 2 came out I thought it was an improvement on gameplay but lackluster in its story. After 3 I replayed 2 and have a newfound appreciation for it.
>>
>>720155284
What was the issue? Who doesn't want to kill Yuri Lawrenthal?
>>
>>720162701
I think NMH3 was fine. It obviously needed a bigger budget because you could feel where the cuts were but the combat was fun and i could go for a NMH4 that plays that way featuring the future kids because it was a cool setup for a sequel that may never happen. It just needs enough time and money to not look like it was developed on a budget of less than i earn in a year.
>>
>>720158959
He never stops being a weird nerd he just leans harder into 2deep4u edgy poetic assassin which is definitely travis' idea of what a cool guy is.

Good god, NMH3 was pure character assassination for everyone. I know he was a weeb but I thought he was a weeb with taste, or at the very least VARIED taste? NMH3 would have you believe that Travis ONLY likes Miike media. Every single thing, Miike this, Miike that, the most based scene was Shinobi forcing them to watch some non Miike wrestling. And of course they choose the most lowest hanging fruit to criticize him on so Travis didn't seem like such a dick rider for him with Terrformars. Which I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say is his BEST work, only being limited due to issues like Japan not having enough foreigners to film with (not his fault), and for the most part they got the design of the bug men fairly close and did the one thing Japan almost never fucking does, and changed the design so it wasn't complete anime looking crap next to the irl actors. They wasted what could have been that games saving grace, a moment in between levels for Suda51 to talk through Travis and give us some dialogue around obscure anime, movies, etc, but, just Miike. And the pay off? A fucking recycled joke from the 2nd game. Best case scenario, Suda thought it'd be funny, worst case, the man LITERALLY has no taste and only creates through mixing the last 5 pieces of media he's watched.
>>
>>720164605
There was ONE boss with a level, and it was the best one in the game. Having to move through a school of ghosts.
>>
>>720163227
I love how the game actually gets worse, not better, if you played Travis Strikes Again and know WHY many of these inane nonsequitors are happening. If you didn’t play TSA you’d think Bad Girl is just there because she’s pretty and psycho, and is purely a popularity pick. If you did, you know that the CIA commissioned Dr. Juvenile to build a gamecube-shaped Dragonball which they used to literally resurrect her. For that matter, if you didn’t play the game Dr. Juveline is just some rando on mission control. Whereas if you did, you know that she SHOULDN’T BE ALIVE after gaslighting Travis into massacring the CIA with a contrived Hotline Miami reference (as if Travis should give a rat’s ass about massacring glowies at this point) before committing suicide by Travis because she can’t live with the guilt or something. Oh yeah and Death Man and the King of Mars are a thing because Suda seems to be regressing to a 12 year old’s idea of what’s cool.

Fuckssake, the guy just wants to make his own self-referential Undertale.

>>720171468
I would rather have a Killer Is Dead sequel at this point, desu. And I thought Killer Is Dead ended just fine.

Maybe it’s a blessing Lollipop Chainsaw and Shadows of the Damned never got sequels. Garcia FUCKING Hotspur does not deserve the nonsense lolrandom bullshit NMH 3 hinted was in store for him.
>>
>>720155284
Jasper being a thematic whimper kind of works. Fuck that window though. I beat 2 on Bitter once. Never fucking again.
>>
>>720174187
I'm pretty sure they are making a LC sequel after the remaster.
>>
Bro fucking off because the fight got too cringe was pretty funny at least.
>>
>>720174425
Yeah but without Gunn, Suda ir even the shitty producer on twitter. It will be shit, but I hope not as low as NMH3.
>>
>>720155284
>NMH3 could have kept Kimmy alive as a fangirl and let Travis have the holy Trio of murderous waifus
Then again, NMH3 would have to be not shit. The fact that we don't even get dialogue of her with Travis and just a quick rap thing is so dumb.
>>
>>720155284
I'm a fan of No More Heroes but I've literally never once played the games.
>>
>>720174425
Well, shit. I guess all i have to look forward to is Cordelia getting more porn, then. The best Starling sister and it’s not close.

>>720174595
Tbqh they should’ve both just fucked off at that point, Jasper kind of ruined his life with his final form if you think about it. He is a businessman, not a JRPG villain.

>>720176234
Travis Strikes Again and NMH 3 proved that death is meaningless in NMH. Not just because of the vidya Dragon Ball but just because of how Suda’s love of meta slop means that he can and will bring back characters if he thinks it’s “whacky” enough. If he really wants to, he could have Kimmy just land in 8-bit purgatory and fight her way out. Or reveal that Kimmy made a more affectionate clone of herself to preserve her feelings for Travis. Or reveal the Kimmy Travis fought was actually a hologram. Somehow.

Hell, we even got another shot at Destroyman in NMH 3.
>>
>>720176676
NMH is the rare occasion where I honestly think the true value of the (non-walking simulator, which inherently has no value) game comes from the story, artstyle, music and cinematics over the gameplay. Like if NMH had none of those it would just be a retro hack ‘n slash with some quick time events. But because it has those we’re still talking about it years after Suda jumped the shark in a bad way.
>>
>>720173264
Genuinely what bossfights are even worth playing NMH3? The only decent ones are Kimmy love, Destroyman True Face and Sonic Juice. Henry and fu were a fucking let down.
>>
>>720162701
>henry does not look, sound, or act like henry because plot
The sound part is because the game was made during the period of time that a psycho bitch ran a cancel campaign on Quinton Flynn.

>I know he was a weeb but I thought he was a weeb with taste, or at the very least VARIED taste? NMH3 would have you believe that Travis ONLY likes Miike media.
I love TSA's incarnation of Travis, but this is also a problem with him. In TSA, he's now this guy who only plays the hippest indie games like it's fucking 2012 and he just discovered steam sales.
Then that's gone in 3 and now he's a Miike dick rider. He's like an internet autist who jumps from one hyperfixation to another, when in 1 and 2 you got the impression that he had plenty of varying interests, and used the excess of downtime he had living alone in a shitty motel to indulge in them all.
>>
>>720179738
Sometimes I wonder if Grasshopper Manufacture enforced a “you MUST pander to retro gaming this much in every game” mandate like the inverse of DEI at some point. Ever since Let It Die it feels like there’s some kind of quota of whacky self-referential/meta jokes that have to interrupt whatever else is going on in a given game (I am giving Killer Is Dead a pass because while it is meta, it does have a consistent underlying logic to it’s surrealism)
