I still recommend you try 2 next as it kind of connects to the first Disgaea, but after that play in any order you want. Really don't recommend 6, but 4, Dimension 2, 5, and 7 are really fun, especially 5.Also sex with the Nekomatas.

To me Disgaea 1 by far has the best story, and unique palette and style is very atmospheric. Later Disgaeas tend to be a lot more colorful and less unique in style, which is a shame. They're still really fun, though, with superior gameplay since they add more and more mechanics. Disgaea is one of the cornerstones of online nerd culture from the early 00s and I'm instantly taken back to that time when I see a thread like this. There's a reason it has three 4chan banners. Good times...
