>Metal Gear Solid Delta is the latest Unreal Engine 5 game to be suffering from big performance issues>It appears as though any fears that you'll need to upgrade to the best graphics card from our buying guide to play these new games are unfounded, and instead, there is simply more work to be done on optimizing games for low-spec hardware.>Speaking on the problems after Unreal Fest in South Korea in an interview translated by Clawsomegamer, he states "the main cause is the order of development," and further clarifies this by saying "many studios build for top-tier hardware first and leave optimization and low-spec testing for the end.">In short, developers are too focused on appeasing gamers with high-end gaming PCs or consoles, and everyone else is suffering as a result.>In the meantime, Sweeney confirms that more support is coming to developers using Unreal Engine 5, including "automated optimization across devices" as well as "expanding developer education" to ensure that optimizing early "becomes standard practice.">Games such as Fortnite, Valorant, and Dead by Daylight have also made the switch seemingly without issue, so the main concerns appear to be with games fully developed for the first time using Unreal Engine 5.https://archive.today/pf6CW
The real problem with UE5 is that a bunch of performance hogging settings come enabled by default, so then when work gets outsourced to yes sars they literally just do the bare minimum to make shit work.
>>720204701works on my ps5
>>720204847its this, monkeys on typewriters can make a UE5 game look "good" but it takes actual comp sci geniuses to min max milk everything out of hardware. This could be done with UE5 as a base, but the fact you are porting an old game to UE5 to begin with implies a low effort low budget project that wouldn't get the love or attention needed to min max.
poorfag PC owners dont buy games, they pirate them. so are rightly at the back of the queue as far as the devs are concerned.PC gaming should be a rich mans sport only, poors are holding it back and bring nothing in return

I don't care whose problem it is, UE4 is better.

>>720204701ive seen actual "people" out in the wild saying "just wait for unreal 6 bro"
>>720204701Avowed runs pretty well, MGS Delta doesn't have stutter, but it has fucking stupid shit like 60fps cap and no hardware lumen option (yes I know you can mod it in, not the point.) UE5 has problems, but it's show that modern devs are 97% useless.

>>720204701Tell Tim to remove mandatory ray tracing and I may consider taking him seriously
>>720204701There are issues of Unreal your couldn't fix easily without going deep under the hood, there are some imperfections of hyped technologies like nanite, lumen and virtual shadow map but in 99% mismanagement tanks the performance.Like they they remember that game should run on other platform than ps5pro too late, when stage already built, triggers placed, asset finalized. All they can do is stitching dlss\fsr before the releaseIt's especially sad for Delta that should be perfect to avoid UE5 shortcomings but it runs like ass
>>720212782>4090>poorCope brainlet
>>720213043>poorjeet copeI'm sorry your 970 isn't cutting it anymore
He is right tho. All those UE5 slops are made by retards and indians
Yeah, totally the developer fault... Even so... Is there any UE5 game that actually runs okay with a 70s series?
>>720204701>The engine is not the problem, the devs just have to rewrite everything from scratch because the built-in options suck>Ignore the fact that UE3 and UE4 were also absolute garbageOh yea, that's a totally reasonable take.
>Games such as Dead by Daylight have also made the switch seemingly without issueBULLSHIT, Dead by Daylight is one unoptimized mess, for such average to crappy graphics the game runs like shit with FPS drops and weird engine bugs running amok, also the change from UE4 to UE5 was fucking hell for months. That being said DBD developers are known to be very bad at their jobs, with ton of bugs and exploits, some of those last for years before they attempt to fix them (yep, attempt, several times "fixed" bugs just pop again months later), sound, performance, security and netcode issues and patches where the game is rendered unplayable for weeks, so maybe in that particular case its not UE5 fault.
He ain't wrong, the devs are to blame for choosing UE5.
>>720205504>he still thinks pc is the "master race"wew
>>720215448A poor tradesman blames his tools
>>720204701I feel like game haven't graphically improved in like 8 years or so.With UR5 basically taking over as the standard game engine shouldn't devs become more familiar with it and be able to make better looking games at a fraction of the processing power?Back in the consoles days, when I played the PlayStation (later One) and PS2, the first games looked good but only got better and better looking as time went on and I figured it was because now people knew what they were doing. Why isn't this happening now? Why games look the same or worse than they did a decade ago and need more and more absurdly priced hardware to run decently?
>>720205004It does not, check any digital foundry video
>>720213461Post timestamp with expensive watch
>>720216646is this the PC AAA experience? having to watch some youtuber to make sure their game is playable? I pop the disc and the game runs. I have fun. That's it.
>>720216646Don't bother arguing with retards like him. The news post on Steam with the updated specs info is full of idiots as well. Game runs like shit and it won't be playable for another 2-3 GPU gens, not at acceptable settings anyway. Running a 3080 and the fucking game dips at native AA 1080p with med/high settings. Settings don't even matter really. Med/high run the same, max GI barely cuts into your frame rate, compared to med/high. And the low settings look like you're playing an XB360 game. Dogshit optimization when a high-end, nearing enthusiast level GPU, from 2020 cannot even do locked 60fps at 1080p anymore.>>720216274Meaningless chart. The divide between budget, mid-range and high-end is pretty much the same anywhere in the world. Yes, most people are on x60 cards and lower, and? Compare that shit to consoles where you're getting stuttery 15-45 fps in the worst cases, often playing at 720p upscaled too. It's no better or worse than the guys who have these entry-level GPUs.

>>720204701>It's not our engine that's the problem, it's all of (YOU)
>>720204701Can't it be both?
>>720219638Apparently when they swapped Valorant from UE4 to UE5 it gained performance.I think the biggest issue is UE5 lets devs be lazy with the lighting and textures, and when devs use those features, their game ends up runing like shit. Epic also pushed using them pretty hard so I'd say it's kinda both of their fault. Epic for pushing it hard, and the devs for blindly believing using it is fine.
