>Squadron 42 releasing next yearCan't wait for this game to mind break the people who have shit on Star Citizen for the past decade
>>720238972Regardless of the game's quality, how many people that remember any of this shit even care at this point? They already made their hundreds of millions so I guess who cares if a bunch of untouched copies sit around on their servers.
>>720238972>Squadron 42 releasing next yearDidn't they say this last year? And the year before that?
>>720240164No, they said last year it was feature complete and didn't give a release date.
>>720238972NEXT YEAR BRO, TRUST US
>>720238972I still have the t-shirt somewhere. I lost access to this pos scamstarter when they migrated the forum and the support ignored all my emails. for 50bux it is one of the most expensive shirts I own
>>720240441>>720240084Yeah can't wait for you fags to finally shut the fuck up
>>720238972>Squadron 42 will be releasing next year for the 10th year in a row
>>720238972It'll break my sides when I see how half-baked it is.
>>720241057Sorry man, but 13+ years of development/hype doesn't justify any product that isn't already released and receiving regular updates.
>>720241307I get it but you need to understand how their team was split between the single player game and the PU and how much technology they had to develop for the game.It is revolutionary.
I'd like to play this when it actually releases but I don't want to fall down the flight stick rabbit hole. It's all $70 garbage or 6 gorrilion dollar autism steel battalion controllers
>>720241412Just think what they could have done with that time, expertise and money on something actually worthwhile.
>>7202412824 hour long cutscene simulator with the occasional gameplay segment. That'll be $80+tip.
>>720238972Regardless of whether the game is good or bad. The wait is unacceptable given all the promises they have given over the years. With that said, I do hope it's good.
>>720238972anything Star Citizen related is just so funny to meI also want to see it released, but not for the same reasons as you.
>>720241412No Man's Sky actually managed to launch and still gets patches, but somehow isn't revolutuonary despite being a product you can actually play. I'm sorry you spent thousands on one of thr carrier packages but please look into the sunk cost fallacy for your own sake.
>>720241802No Mans Sky sucks and isn't even near the same level of fidelity as SC is.>I'm sorry you spent thousands on one of thr carrier packages but please look into the sunk cost fallacy for your own sakeI spent $45 like 10 years ago and have had the same package since
>>720242197It still exists and you can play it, making it infinitely better than sc or squadron. A decade of "soon" is worthless.
>>720241214It's first release date was 2014 so it's literally been releasing every year for *more than* ten years lolIt'll be releasing next year in five years too.
>>720241802I would rather have nothing than have something as shitty as no mans sky. The real comparison that makes SC look bad is elite dangerous, it isn't great but its at least a real game.
>>720244335Most of us don't pay money for nothing, which is what SC players have done repeatedly.
>>720244405not players, followers.
You really should have realized it was a long con scam when they sold in-game ships for 10 thousand dollars.
>>720241057Why would they? Its literally a scam
I'm so excited to spend 50 dollars on some armours and guns for the upcoming citcon! What guns and armour are in the pack? That's the cool thing, you don't know until they show you during the 2 hour presentation were getting instead of the multiple day event we usually have! Year of stability!!

>>720244991>scam>that you can download and play right nowGet a life you jewish cretin
I've been playing Star Citizen for the past 4 years already, it's called Avorion and does everything better than starstutter
>>720247787Except his time they actually have to show results because of their investors...
>>720241802You can actually play SC though
>>720241412does it not get grating repeating the same talking points for 13 years like some pathetic, unpaid marketing automaton?
>>7202523872.0 patch ruined it thoughthey even killed off my hyperdimensionally folded-a-billion-times efficiency cubes just to spite me
>>720252998I played SC 7 years ago, and I played it the last year on/off. There's almost nothing new. It's shocking that in all these years we've seen so much new stuff in games (and so many new games in general) exploring new shit and the gameplay is STILL more or less in the same state it was 7 years ago.Bunker missions still make up the main gameplay of the shit casual gets up to. Cargo/mining/salvaging is still done by beer-bellied fatmericans who probably do similar shit irl and are too retarded to figure out anything else to do with their lives than spend their paycheck on a scam "game" (people actually put thousands of dollars into this game so they can own a digital 3d render -- L.O.L.) And besides all that, the game is riddled with griefers (omg nooo it's ackshually a role called pirating and it's intended). It's still the same game it was seven years ago and it will still be the same shit seven years onward. The fact that people are investing thousands of dollars in this game thinking they can sell off their accounts and make it back is embarrassing as well as fucking hilarious.
>>720238972>Scam Citizen
For me Star Citizen is like bitcoin. It's just been around too long to be total bullshit. I've had fun with it. The best part about it is interacting with other players. I paid the minimum amount for it and I'll get my moneys worth
>>720253579Pyro brought tons of new fps stuff to the game. There's also bounty hunting for people with crime stats, animal related missions, space combat missions. Idk anon what else do you want a space game to be? Can you name another space game that has anything more besides crafting?
at least we'll get some neat cutscenes out of squadron 42, i have little faith in the actual gameplay
>>720238972>release next yearlolSQ42 aside, it's just sad that Star Citizen's community consists of middle-aged men grinding their lives away and will put down good cash for a piece of paper that calls them Grand Admiral or some shit lolI suppose it must make up for the fact that they have to kiss their boss' ass every day
>>720254189being a neet isn't something to brag about
>>720254059>tons of new fps stuffYou mean Bunker: Pyro edition? I went there two days ago and since the Pyro update came and went, the place is a glitchy mess with NPCs barely shooting back and things not loading in or working as intended. Rustville included. What else do I want than the stuff it already has? Bro, I've played porn games that have the same amount of "content" in terms of fighting/looting/crafting. The fact that you're satisfied by this garbage is all I need to know this game will be shit, because CIG knows they can get away with it, come build 1.0.
>>720254375damn, must've hit a nervewas it the grinding your life away or kissing your boss' ass part? let me guess; both!no but srsly, why are you mad anyway?
>>720254394>I've played porn games that have the same amount of "content"no you haven't
>>720254452mad?
>>720254189>don't have enough nepo connections and capital to become a real member of the King's Navy>have to settle for paying some triple chinned con artist the privilege of being one in a false realty that is the personification of P2WWew lad
>>720254581>go from point a to point b>kill enemies at point b>optional: loot>return to point ait's not that hard to recreateflesh it out as much as you want, it doesn't change the fact that Star Citizen in its current state is not impressive, but it's enough to keep people pleased and that's all CIG needs to get away with their moneythe fact that you're even engaging with that argument is a sign to me that this state of stagnancy is grounded in what the gameplay actually is like and you're probably getting all worked up over that fact lmao
>>720247461mfw i have no face
>>720254737P2W implies there's actually anything to win. There isn't. If you try to really grasp what Star Citizen is about, you'll find there's nothing.Let's go through one of a few examples:>have small ship>rent bigger ship, grind to be able to buy big ship of ur dreams>obtain big ship>fly big ship>get sad because star citizen is empty and there is no purpose for big ship besides griefing other players or getting FOMO loot skins>eat macdonald and pay a thousand dollars for new cool ship that comes out
>>720254917really so there's just hundreds of other mmos that have planets you can land anywhere on with 600 player servers and the net code is good enough to have other players running around your ship while your moving? I would love to know what they are>go from point a to point b>kill enemies at point bthat's every game
>>720255228Doesn't matter if there are 600 player servers with immense distances. Wouldn't matter if it was an infinite amount of player maximum in an infinite universe. When your game sucks ass and has been stuck for probably 10 years, that's not a bad sign. And the fact that Scam Citizen fans have to clutch their pearls that hard and turn a blind eye towards all that shit, solidifies it to me that I'm right.I'd be sad for your part that you think that that's all a game can be, but sadly I do not bother feeling sympathy for consumer cretins. Go eat your scam slop and be happy.
>>720256053its just an extreme case of buyers remorse. id be upset too if i had to mortgage my home to preorder a virtual space ship
>>720240347>>720246486Bullshit, they have given this game multiple release dates
>>720256053why won't you name a better game so I can play it. I only bought SC recently and I'm not invested thousands of dollars.>Doesn't matter if there are 600 player servers with immense distanceswell it does because it's a social game.
>>720241420I don't recommend you getting any controllers but I did pick up the new Sol R which is middle priced and its really good. I play with it sometimes with elite, one stick and foot pedals. Lots of buttons, plastic made but heavy/robust, good tension on the joystick, ect.
>>720255181Is there at least some potential for EVE levels of autistic antics and economic warfare?
>>720256220Nta but;You overpaid on a HOTAS set up and just want to single player space aesthetic trucker/space combat/space miner mindlessly with no goals or real objectives: EliteYou want exploration, where just figuring out how to do anything is a part of the game with or without friends: NMSYou want a living galaxy with every single feature imaginable in a space game (except multiplayer): 4X Foundations You want something that's a bit more structured, like Bannerlord in Space, and don't mind downloading some mods: Starsector
>>720256646>EveGod I wish the devs were not such toxic losers.
>>720256220>it's a social gamelol, lmao evenVC doesn't work 90% of the time. Most people will shoot you on sight, whether that is in a ship or on foot. If they don't, they're set on incapping you so they can steal your ship/cargo or otherwise grief you as hard as you can. Contracts are broken, and if they're not broken, the sharing is broken. Also why even bother? The FPS missions are the most generic trash you'll find in any game, there are games from the 00's that have smarter NPCs. What's social about endlessly grinding missions in a game for big ships that serve no purpose? That's like saying fishing is a social sport. As for other games, why not go on steam? It's a platform where you can buy games that are actually good and actually released. Helldivers 2 is a great option with over 300k concurrent players as of last week. The studio interacts with the community, regularly releases free updates with content that is obtainable in-game.Also let me remind you that the most social and fun aspect of Star Citizen doesn't even exist anymore: service beacons / search and rescue contracts. The only interaction you will have in SC that I'd pass as "social" would be the PVP griefing. But at that point, you may as well say that getting robbed and raped IRL is a social event.
I'm gonna be honest, I've taken a shit on this game for the longest time because its impossible not to with how pathetic and pitiful starcitizen fans are.the fact that theyre going to launch the singleplayer is a miracle, im 100% certain the actual multiplayer is entirely fake and being used to milk money for robert and other execs.
>>720238972See I play Star Citizen because I have brain damage and got it for free and even I know 42 is gonna be shit
>>720257308The miracle part of that being that there's anything left after all these years of CIG spending it on luxurious coffee machines and god knows what other luxuries. Scam Citizen fans are busy throwing up to $4-5k (and more) for 3d renders of luxurious futuristic space yachts while Chris is busy living life toasting champagne on his IRL luxury yacht. Imagine being such a brainless consoomer. Couldn't be me.
>>720257682>/v/ learns about tax write-offs
Anon doesn't get that players have been playing star citizen, for them the game has been released all this time.
>>720238972>Next year>Be 2026>Releasing next year!>Be 2027>Releasing next year>Be-
>>720256834>As for other games, why not go on steam?wow anon you got me. This is the very first game I ever played and I don't have any other ones. Helldivers gets boring after 20 hours btw.The difference between me and you is that I bough SC a month ago to fuck around fully understanding what it is. You bought it 7 years ago with wide shiny soi eyes and that has turned into soi rage
>>720256220>social gameAre you new to multiplayer games or some shit? Yeah sure 5% of players are going to have a chat with you, maybe trade some items, or help you out.The other 95% are going to kill you on sight (usually in groups so you have zero chance to win) or grief you in other ways according to how the game's rules work.Unless a game has very strict hardcoded rules about pvp, it will devolve into a pvp KOS mess. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS RULE.
The fact that they decided to steer away from the grand space game and focus more on turning it into Tarkov/Rust in space is really sad
>>720258213That doesn't happen as much as you think because of the bounty hunting system. There also isn't really any loot you can get from players to make it worth it to just greif
>>720258608>Robert is personally paying jeets to lie about his game which everyone knows is a scamLol, lmao.Star Citizen has been in development for over a decade, newsflash nigger, everyone knows how the game works by now.And yes most of the game is just griefing, you get UNLIMITED usages of your pay2win ships so when you lose it, you just reset and get it back lmao.So everyone just griefs players who have played and bought ships legitimately.Usually chinese groups.
>>720258045>he's uninterested in one of the most popular games that actually has the gameplay to back the numbers uplol ok now I'm starting to understand who you are, you just stay in your bubble and keep making your deluded mind-narrations>>720258213this desuthere is not a single multiplayer game I've played in my entirely life where killing was optional and that component turned into the main component -- even back on Gmod RP servers people would go out of their way to acquire a weapon and break rules just to kill somebody; did not matter what the consequences were>>720258274I was saying this to ppl in SC and it's incredible the state of denial these people are in. They will try to make you out to be the crazy person in arguing that there's no such thing as a focus on PVPing, meanwhile they're all doing it and ignoring all the other shite (cus they know it's all a fucking mindless grind)
>>720258759>there is not a single multiplayer game I've played in my entirely life where killing was optional and that component turned into the main component -- even back on Gmod RP servers people would go out of their way to acquire a weapon and break rules just to kill somebody; did not matter what the consequences wereNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND THERE IS THE BOUNTY SYSTEM! AND AND UHM, AI SECURITY! AND LOOT IS SHIT! PLEASE REDEEM THE GAME SAR!
>>720258608>grief needs worthThe point of griefing is to ruin someone else's experience -- doesn't matter if there's a reward or a risk as long as you can keep doing it; that's what people like this enjoy about these games. It's the fact that, in their mind, they're shitting on someone else while wasting that person's time and effort.
>>720258726>everyone knows how the game works by now.well you don't
>>720258896See here the communist ideology, thinking that by saying words, it changes reality. Afraid it doesn't.Go back to Robert and ask for a raise.

>>720258947>calling jeets as soon as someone opposed himThey took out bounty hunting for a while and griefing went up. It clearly does something. Do you have any arguments/?
>>720258964>Helldivers is boring after a while and all you do is run around and shoot stuff while your team mates blow you up sorry.Starcitizen is boring after a while and all you do is fly around and shoot pirates while griefers blow you up sorry.
>>720238972>will shitted and flopped itself on releaseVery nice. Someone will upload Gillian Anderson's scenes to Youtube and everyone will quickly forget the rest of it.
>>720246469Even if you ignore the half assed updates the base product is a functioning game that is enjoyable for at least a few hours, this has been the case for 11 years while SC has been stuck in an endless broken early access hell.
>>720258964>All you do is engage with a community in events created by the studio to fight alongside other people against enemies that are continuously evolving and changing in settings that vary from forests to swamps to desserts to colonies to megacities to hives, etc.You wish Star Citizen had a fraction of the gameplay HD2 had.
>>720244779They also introduced CASH only upgrades to the game and they literally could make your ship better than anyone else's. Also how fucking bad is your "tutorial" if you have to have people in the game TEACH YOU basic shit and avoid very specific actions or places to not get fucked by their shitty code? Also, nice hardcore space sim, nice of them to finally let you keep your equipped inventory when the game crashes or some random event kills your fucking ass.
>>720259098Yeah I guess video games are bad
>>720259209Star Citizen, where if you don't get gibbed by griefers in their kitted out Idris, you get killed by the fucking elevators lmao.
>>720259208HD2 is a very well made game. I unlocked everything and then I didn't want to play it anymore because I got tired of smashing bugs. I don't really care about the community events. It's not interesting to me that the devs make up these minor plot points that don't matter because the game is an infinite war.

>>720238972>Hardcore realistic space-sim where if you die, you die for realsies and lose everythingOh okay so it's like a two hour long game like FTL where a loss doesn't feel too bad because you can just make another run and potentially succeed?>No no no, it's going to be an MMO, you're expected to put YEARS of effort into itYeah but can't some giga-nigger in their pimped out ship just 1 hit KO me and repeat the process forever?>Sure! >>720263761too much grinding and scaling is shit. also once you do get to end game the no fun allowed patrol warp into your current sector every 15 mins
>>720255228None of this is true for SC, either. The net code is fucking awful, I fall through the world or my friend's ship nearly every time we try to play together. My respawn point in his ship's medbay never works, the lag/frames are fucking awful, your character movements are as clunky, slow and awkward as PUBG on release, there's literally nobody to run into because almost nobody plays anymore, and there's nothing to fucking do. If the game were at least refined so it looked good and felt smooth, at least it'd be fun to login every now and then, but EVERYTHING sucks. The animations are god awful, the inventory/looting system is a fucking mess that feels worse than stand alone day z from fucking 10 years ago, every mission is identical and the enemy npcs are the dumbest npcs to exist in any game ever. They fucking walk backwards half of the time. And the cancerous monetization was bad enough to even make the subreddit embarrassed that they ever supported the game. There's zero excuse for this game to look and play stiffer and more lifeless than even f2p gook games.

>>720279202Realistic space combat only works in strategy games but would be boring a real-time first person/third person game. However some sort of middle ground Expanse style can work.

>>720252387>>720263761>>720263815except that game is fucking garbage take your shilling somewhere else please
>>720238972I wonder if scam citizen fans will all drink the cool aid when the mothership never actually arrives to take them to the promised land.
>>720238972>This shitshow started in 2012
>>720241412>how much technology they had to develop for the gameThey didn't need to. All everyone wanted was Freelancer 2, instead we got bloated monstrocity that wants to be everything space the game.
>>720238972Wasn't this supposed to release like a decade ago?
>>720246486This is correct.>>720269226They were saying in an interview that they thought they could release in 2016, but it wasn't like they put up the kind of shit they did last year where they had a big trailer and COMING 2026 on it. The version from 2016 (which I am sure was 'feature complete' back then) would have pretty much been the very basic Wing Commander 2.0 version of the campaign; nothing but fighter piloting and maybe some on foot sections . Keep in mind they didn't even finalize the scope of the game(s) until at least when they stopped with "stretch goals", which was at the end of 2014 start of 2015..
>>720279813It was but you guys kept writing him emails which derailed the whole process. Oh wait... That's the wrong scam.
Next year for sure
>>720279364Its what retards cling to because it puts Cig from 0 released games to 1 released game, and from their the sky is the fucking limit, maybe they'll even fully release Star Citizen(lmao)
>>720279759>bloated monstrocity that wants to be everything space the game. That was exactly what Freelancer was going to be until Microsoft stepped in and forced them to release a product instead of developing for eternity
>>720278883sunk cost fallacy anon, yeah it does get this bad
>>720238972As someone who has been following this since the kickstarter and have spent way too much money throughout the years I honestly don't believe it'll do that well. Even with all the known actors they managed to get on the project early on, it's still a space/flight game and they have always been pretty niche. With how much money Star Citizen itself makes these days, Squadron not doing super well won't really do that much to the company, but you'll probably see a shift towards work on SC only and not the further episodes to squadron they had planned. (this might be the plan anyway atleast until SC 1.0 is out)I'm still not sure I'd bet on Squadron releasing next year, but they do seem to be preparing a lot of media and promotions for it. It'll look good and I am sure I will enjoy it, but I'm not the one they need to convince their shit is good.
>>720273208>Le redditCome the fuck on, Roberts always wanted to make a huge fucking immersive MMO. That has always been his goal - one man's 30 year autism journey and the tech is finally capable. He was willing to accept making something lesser , but if you look at his design goals from the early days (notably Death of a Spaceman, which talks about permadeath with your stuff going to a next of kin character, and how you can only be brougth back a certain amount of times and may end up with scars , prosthetics etc) he always wanted a MMO universe and a Wing Commander-alike campaign set within it. The only people i have any sympathy for when it comes to bitching about getting a smaller game faster are those who backed in 2012-2014, but they were given the chance for refunds if they wanted them, for years. However they were outvoted when Roberts basically said >We can either stop with what have, or we can keep going and try to make something with a scope never before seen, with all these new features, immersion, and everything I wanted to make since I started doing this but never had the funding and opportunity without corpo shackles! and the latter was chosen by literal millions.
>>720263761>>720263815Did they remove VAC from it? I don't see it mentioned on store page anymore.
>>720279202>>720279473>detect enemy ship with cloaked recon beacons>launch missile swarm from across the solar system>wait 8 hours (in-game) until the hit confirms or doesn'tyeah it only works in this 2D game I'm playing"realistic" space combat just won't work elsewhere
>>720280003I know and it still baffles me how that retard didn't get a fucking memo, also fuck sim autism.
>>720280720I think there will be slightly different audiences for Squadron and for Star Citizen (public universe MMO), but the former can raise interest in the latter. Especially considering that Squadron42 was overhauled from the ground up to bring more of the other features besides just dogfighting involved, it may be something of a tutorial or exposure for many players. Its also something that gives the PVE focused players (and this is by far the majority - the worst thing CIG could do is listen to the morons who want this to be Tarkov in space for anything desirable) not just content but examples of what may be available . I think the storyline and the celebs and all will only help it ( I read something posted that /ourguy/ Cavill reported he's going back to CIG to record new stuff for new content), but you're right that sims are already pretty niche. However, the breath of SC's features will make more interested in one dimension or another which is nice. I showed a friend some of the "space trucker" arc and the "mid-space refueling" / refining etc.. and that cinched it for him. He may not want to go up against a lot of people in a fighter (though it can be fun against NPCs etc), but he'll grab a Starfarer and fly around to gas giants with his fuel 'scoop', use the onboard refining to process it into the 2 kinds of liquid "gas" the ships need so far, and either haul the onboard liquid containers out for sale, or hang out in high travel areas and fuel for sale. I think during one of the live events he did this in the alpha, or something similar. My biggest concern is about the monetization. If you've been around that long, you'll know that the big thing that sets them aside from so many others is their lack of exclusivity - ships, widgets, and even most cosmetics are to be earned IN GAME, not only for pay; I worry after all this time new, younger devs will push to normalize pay-exclusive (or near to it) stuff and that is unacceptable.
>>720238972>Squadron 42 releasing next yearKek. Sure buddy
>>720281323You don't get it brah, he's an artist with a vision, a dream, a true author! And now he has unlimited money and time to craft his autistic masterpiece!
we will get actual interstellar space travel before this shit releases
